I'm from Maryland and sometimes cook potatoes and corn on top of the crabs while they are steaming. I leave the husk on the corn though and only cook the corn for the final 10 minutes of steaming. Depending on the size of the potatoes I either steam them for the entire time or the last 10 minutes. Can also throw shrimp on top for the final 10 minutes.
lejalamorena I’m from Louisiana and we strictly boil crabs and they are beyond good. Spicy, juicy and full of flavor from the Louisiana seasoning that we use to boil seafood. To my boils I add corn, potatoes, smoked sausage, mushrooms, garlic, lemons, carrots, sweet potatoes, celery, onions and of course, crabs. For a crawfish or shrimp boil, I use the same vegetables and seasoning, I just switch seafood. Most boils in Louisiana will be only one type of seafood in the pot being either crabs, crawfish or shrimp, unlike the mix of seafood in the same pot in this video.
Thank you so much for this video! I just bought some blue crab. I was wondering what to do with it for Valentine’s Day! You helped me so much! Man, this looks delicious! #Newsubscriber
I viewed this 4 years ago and saved it....today's the day! Louisiana Crab Boil on a cold clear day in Ohio ;-) thanks for this reference material...I'm already drooling and can't wait!
That’s how it’s done man. I’m in the Alexandria Louisiana area and I’ve done boiled the exact recipe several times. Just don’t get any better than that. Will be doing one here in a couple weeks.
@@monalisa1711 Plus you get the added weight loss associated with ingesting the tape worms in the poo. Nothing like having them wiggle out of the ole butt hole.
Sorry if this sounds like a noobie question, but why do you use the bags of crab boil seasonings, and then the powder crab boil seasoning after pouring in the liquid crab boil seasoning? Doesn't the liquid give the same flavor as the powdered and bags seasonings? Why can't you just use more, say like, 3 solo cups of the liquid crab boil seasoning only? Thanks!
Did I miss him adding Louisiana Hot Sauce? I wouldn't think of boiling any shellfish without it, the same as salt, garlic, lemon, onion, and Zararain's.Crab Boil! I just don't need the corn or potatoes etc. Just give me the boiled shellfish. at a shrimp festival in Morgan City when I was playing music at Maurice's Lounge in the '60s, I had a friend like a brother all his life when together would say don't ever challenge this guy to a boiled shrimp eating contest. He'd say, " I watched him eat boiled shrimp from 11 AM in the morning until 3 PM without stopping. Hahaha!.
a man from Maryland told me that you don't boil crabs..he was adamant about it..i felt like saying, don't come to my neck of the woods and tell me I am cooking them wrong.
I'm from Maryland and have heard the same thing. I never understand why some people tell you that. They probably are the same ones who say not to put ketchup on your hot dog😂 Closed mindedness is a sign of ignorance and intolerance or at least that's been my experience.
Maryland people need to stop with that steaming shit. This girl told me she steam them then add seasoning like no. You boil them, add the seasoning into the water so all the flavor can get into the meat of the crab. Steaming does not do that
Mmmmmmm!!!! All I need is some zydecco playing,a stupid size cup of sweet iced tea,and a tin of Walker and Sons Slap'ya Mama seasoning!!! Got me so hungry!
I wish I could eat more crabs, but I live in Vegas and the prices are so stupid high, I'd have to put them on layaway. That's some good looking property you have there.
There is a difference. The first is 1 cup of Liquid Crab Boil, the second are the 3 little bags crab boil, the third is 1 whole jar of Crab Boil powder form.
I just use the powered form. It is all the same for the most part. I don't use onion and garlic and all that. Just a lot of powder and water works just fine.
Eat the meat only if it's a hard shell. Eat everything except the face, guts, gills, apron underneath if it's a soft shell but I recommend frying it if it's a soft shell.
No but here in Maryland some people like to pop off the shell, pull out the gills and hose them out, then steam them with seasoning on them. To me that way isn't as tasty as leaving it whole while steaming or boiling.
Ever try frying a soft shell? Just cut the face off, pull back the corners of the shell and clean out the guts, pull the apron underneath off, I lightly coat mine in flour seasoned with either Old Bay or JO Seafood Seasoning then simply fry them in a pan with about 1/2" of canola oil at about 350 degrees for roughly 3 minutes per side. I like to eat them on a fresh potato roll with tartar sauce, slice of garden beefsteak type tomato out of the garden and some Iceberg lettuce.
Depends on size of crabs but I would say 4 on average since some don't seem to think that the amount of meat that you get is worth the effort and others will sit there and eat them until they are gone.
That might be a good crab boil but i saw him stirring it with wooden spatula which he kept spatula side down after stirring on the dusty floor where he n piggies are walking !!

I think you definitely could have used another 120 dozen crabs worth of seasonings in there for the 12 crabs you cooked. I do not believe the corn were red enough
I need smell-o-vision.. Looks really good brother.
@OGlettuceWEED humans have lived thousands of years and the last 200 years have been nothing but sissys
Same here after five years.
I wish I was born in Louisiana, I got man respect for y’all

The bird poop gives it that extra tangy flavor!! 😂🤣🤣

what a spread
So you used zatarains seasoning in liquid powder and pre measured? I'm confused
Wondering about adding biscuits like making a dumpling like meal. Not sure if they’d fall apart.
Do you also add sausage to your mix as well? I know many who do
How much money (rough estimate) is all the ingredients for this one cook? 😀
The Path To Eternity $20
I bet it was delicious
Is there a difference in the zatarans products you used.? it looked like the same thing in different forms
This is great simple instructional video! Why do you use 3 types of Crab boil seasoning? What's the difference?
Liquid crab boil adds spice(heat), the bags are herbs mostly, and the dry seasoning is all the salt, pepper etc.
What's that thing he used to cook it with?
That really made me home sick and very hungry. WHO DAT!!
How much water do you use if your boilin three dozen of those things
I wanna eat with you you cook I’ll bring the seafood brother
Take me on the lake brother I live in Ponchatoula
I'd like to see how to eat blue crab.. What parts to eat what part to leave behind....
Eat the meat only if it's a hard shell. Eat everything except the face, guts, gills, apron underneath if it's a soft shell but I recommend frying it if it's a soft shell.
Whole time I thought that was the wind
Quan Mack 😆
You don’t have to clean the crabs before cooking them?
No but here in Maryland some people like to pop off the shell, pull out the gills and hose them out, then steam them with seasoning on them. To me that way isn't as tasty as leaving it whole while steaming or boiling.
No please clean then. Nobody likes to eat dirt
At the end, 20 minutes seems long for raw shrimp?
How many blue crab do you recommend per person for large groups?
Depends on size of crabs but I would say 4 on average since some don't seem to think that the amount of meat that you get is worth the effort and others will sit there and eat them until they are gone.
Pots 80qt watch his vide on boiling shrimp to get that info and more!
How many crabs did you use?
Can you put the reciepe in comment or put a link for it?!
I couldn't hear the reciepe well.
What size pot is that ?

Looks like 80 quart.

This guy looks like the bad guy from The Revenant haha. Great vid though.
and sounds like, lol
Do you add any salt.
Blue crabs are meant to be steamed!
I wonder what a boiled Louisiana lobster would taste like
You forgot to put your shoes in the boiling soup sir 😂
I’m gonna pick up a bushel of soft shell crabs from Trey in a couple days. Can I cook them all the same way?
marco martinez if they’re Softshell fry them like you would fish
He love some zatarans lmao

It pains me to see the word scientific in a subjective sentence
I know they ate good lol
Steaming would change how you do things after your first bite of tender back fin lump. They look rubbery.

Plus, the seasoning on the outside gets on the meat when you finger pick the crab. Maybe you're smashing it open down there.
DumbledoreMcCracken yeah we Specialize that here in maryland nobody can top marylands crabs
If haven't tried it then what wild wild world of sports you yanks fussing about!
I'm from southern Louisiana and I know those crabs are gonna be simply delicious, but all that sodium and MSG is a heart attack waiting to happen.
Just cook them without it or a fraction.
Wow! Sure is cheaper to steam em!
I bet that very spicy hot
It was a floater in that red cup 😭😣
I know how to boil POTATOES !
I was interested in boiling crab
I think you definitely could have used another 120 dozen crabs worth of seasonings in there for the 12 crabs you cooked. I do not believe the corn were red enough
Yeah really. I've read a few comments and people are bragging about him.
*But he screwed up several places pretty badly.*
That tree getting on my nerves lol
Must be salty?
Not at all ... Maybe a little
I doubt it
