Completing the Google PM Certificate is a great point of entry for anyone who's lacking project management experience as it meets the CAPM exam prerequisite.
You’re correct. The CAPM and PMP certifications are the industry standards. If you want a project management certification, these should be your ultimate goal. With that being said, there is no certification that ensures that you will receive job offers. Getting a job is always a combination of experience, education, and your network. Certifications are a way to signal to employers that you are serious about the profession, and that you have basic knowledge. It should be noted that the CAPM has an educational prerequisite before one can sit for the exam. It’s my understanding that this educational requirement can be fulfilled by taking the Google Project Management course. The Google Project Management course is about $50 per month. I don’t think that it’s too farfetched to think that someone could complete the course in one or two months, fulfill the education component, buy a CAPM study guide, then sit for the CAPM exam.
Hey sis, u didn't mention several important things. The Google PM cert is part of the PMI-PMP alliance. If you complete the full thing it's good for I believe 100 hrs towards ur PMI-PMP cert. It essentially takes the place of the CAPM but wo the accreditation. Also u grt access to a private job board of companies that will hire u because of the cert so it's not a bad look at all. I think the best way to use it is if u already hav project management experience, complete the cert to find work and then later on get ur actual PMP thru the institute. That won't work for everyone but it is convenient if u already hav experience. I just recently completed it and am currently seeking work now via the private board. Excellent video otherwise
Even if someone has some experience, the best route is getting the CAPM. It’s the industry standard and counts towards the PMP. Employers are not looking for the Google cert. PMI has a job board and other career resouces as well. Thanks for watching.
@@VonnWashing hi good morning!!! To answer your question directly, yes I did complete my job search. I now work as an assistant director for a widely known 4 yr university for one of their student outreach programs. However this is not in project management. I am still interested in working on that field however my priorities have changed somewhat for the time being as my fiance and I just recently had a new babygirl (yay!!!) I will revisit doing project management next year. There are a LOT of scammers who try to take advantage of ppl looking for work so that is def sum to be cautious of...
You were spot on with your assessment . While the course did provide certain basic information. I thought it was too long and drawn out. As you stated, it does not prepare you for the PMI standards or Certified Credentials. Thank You for this Video
I have come across your videos at a time when I am considering branching out to Project Management. My major in the University is Civil Engineering. You are a gem!
I would like to know capm certification. I’m currently taking the Google certification and it’s giving me information that I never would have thought about. I am a nurse but I want to transition into project management in the healthcare industry.
New subscriber on here and tik tok. Im enjoying your content. What other resources did you read over beside the book mentioned above? I just finished Roger Shilter pmp exam prep.

Have you had any luck with your job search? I’m almost done with the course.

Thanks for supporting on YT and TikTok! Rita Mulcahy’s book and the PMBOK guide were the only resources I used.
Im sure the PMP is awesome, but is the Google cert not ok to take until I can afford the PMP cert?
Yes, the Google certificate course counts towards the education hours required to take the PMP exam.
