Great reaction! About the bass there, yes the E string has a 2 fret extension to D so the glue vise acts like a capo. The tuner for that string actually sits at the back of the body behind the bridge, and that is actually a Hipshot D-tuner, so the E- string can actually drop down to C 😃
I would love to hear more about this bass! It’s mostly a prop in this video, it seems, but I’d love to see the second neck in action! Your instruments are stunningly beautiful and I love what Henrik does with them!
Off the top of my head I'm gonna say this is the first new DL song in like a year and a half. To be introduced to Dirty Loops yesterday and then have a new song released basically the same day. Well my friend the music gods seem to be smiling down on you. The whole production and presentation of this one I think took everybody kind of by surprise. Dirty Loops is outstanding and they have so much fun on their videos! Looks like a full 80´s vibe and homage! From the acrilic drumset with 2 kicks (and Aron´s jogger headband), Jonahs specs, to the cigarette on Henriks headstock (Van Halen style) and his Hair-Metal look!

This song starts in Emaj and jumps to the relative C#min during the bass insanity. In the middle of the second bass shred section they sneakily modulate up a minor 3rd and come back into the vocals in Emin (sneaky boys) then jump up to the new major root key of Gmaj :) They do all kinds of wild harmonic progressions that keep you on your toes! Henrik is definitely one of the best bassists of his generation for sure. He really channels his inner Steve Vai for this one!
You kind of answered your own question there. Aron has humongous drum set even though he doesn't need it. Henrik has four arms. Jonah has four keyboards. As many other have already said, it was quite funny to hear you say you knew what to expect. Rule no. 1 with these guys is that you never, ever know what to expect. Well, except for ridiculously high quality musicianship. Outside of that they always manage to surprise. 😄 Oh, and those two kick drums is probably also a joke, as Aron never plays double kick normally and doesn't need it, he's that fast with one foot. Saw these guys in concert last year, absolutely one of the best concerts i’ve ever been to, so much fun and so much groove. These guys are 3 of the most talented musicians i’ve ever seen live. Only maybe matched by seeing Snarky Puppy.
Aron, Henrik, and Jonah are masters of their instruments and they always come back with an amazing song that you have to turn up headphones. Dirty Loops is a legit band.
Greatest band on the planet IMHO..why? because they are super talented 'musicians' of the very highest order..a rare thing these days..an incredible piece or work both in audio and video department.
The song reminds me of the times when I was in my teen years - the good ol' 80's. Henriks Bass playing is on a complete new level. And I know what I'm talking about, because I play bass too. I think every musician, no matter if you're a bassist, a drummer, a keyboarder or a songwriter, is blown away by their capabilities. Btw: great reaction again, bro.
This is what happens when you haven’t watched their other videos and seen their progression. You just went to Hendrik on full tilt and had your mind blown. 😂 Subscribed to enjoy your journey watching their other songs. You should do Work Sh*t Out - Aaron the drummer shows technical ability that will blow your mind like Henrik did in this 👍
No matter how you prepare - you're never quite prepared for new Dirty Loops! Besides being amazing musicians and composer/arrangers they have an incredible sense of humor (which also shows in the way they put their videos together - like Jonahs "pop-movements" here are definitely on purpose). Quite often their credits contain some hilarious comments (not so much in this one, but a bit at the start, as you noticed).
Damn... the first playthrough it's a funny 80s sounding song with an insane bass solo... Then the vocal line hooks you and that's all you can hear for a bit and then after a few more listens, you start to realise the fucking insane musicality going on throughout the entire thing. I've probably listened to this 100 times now I I'm still picking up cool new things each time.
Great reaction video! You heard/saw some things I'd not caught (yet). Henrik's bass guitar playing on this song is a landmark that advances the entire pedagogy of the instrument. Mark my words, people will be talking about this for a while!
Henrik is single-(um, quadruple)-handedly transforming bass playing as we know it. Also Robert, have you seen above a comment by the maker of this Mattisson bass himself? Super interesting, check it out 👍
Extremely funny. 😂 Crazy, Over-The-Top and Joyful, The arms looked like a cheap special effect from 60s Dr Who.🤔 Aron's headband and tight T-shirt was a delightful little touch. Jonah absolutely looked the part. Fabulous! 👏 It is amazing they look like an '80s tribute, and sound like Anthem Rock crossed with Henrik's alien bass. 👍👍 They are a Total Joy at many levels. Best Wishes, All. ☮
thanks for insightful thoughts, long journey ahead of you but my tip is to start with some early covers that they hit with "baby baby" (good bass solo) looking forward to more DL🤩
Loved your Dirty Loops reaction (that's how I came across your channel). There have been many suggestions for DL songs at this point, but I haven't seen Breakdown. Also, if no one's mentioned it, they are about to go on a US tour.
You seem like the kind of guy who can appreciate Baard Kolstad's drumming. He plays for Leprous, which as a whole is an absolutely monsterous band, but InsideOutMusicTV has quite a few videos of Baard drumming to their songs. Start out with The Sky is Red, you won't be disappointed!
If you haven't yet, you should watch the zildjian live sessions. My personal fave is theone with matt griener (august burns red drummer). Loads of talent in that room.

I liked your reaction! If you do more dirty loops I'll be there watching! and if you want something new i suggest Ghost! ("Mary on a cross" in a good entry level song!)
If you like bass players Id recommend Michael Manring. His song Selena, specifically the 2011 Canadian Guitar Festival video. Keep up the great reactions, you have an easy, relaxed, and natural way of doing your reactions. Another Dirty Loops recommendation would be World on Fire. Pay particular attention to the mic placement for Henriks set up. Especially his D.I. New sub.
So on the last video you asked for more DL songs to review, and I totally forgot about that time they did a cover on Samsungs ringtone Over the horizon. ua-cam.com/video/4-siHP8YjhI/v-deo.htmlsi=Sa5JMZ2e_6bdWmhp
He is using FM9 from fractal audio as his main sound and only uses like 2 of the analog pedals besides a tuner... all preprogrammed for all the songs ;)
@@teckreactions well, he has already demonstrade his gear, there is like a compressor and stuff he really doesn't use since the fractal has excellent effects, it is built for him the complete set... he said he is only using 2 effects from the analoge board sitting beside his fractal plus the tuner ;)
If you want some crazy good drums, check out "El Estepario Siberiano", I suggest his "ONE HANDED DRUMMING VOL.1". As for bassists, Charles Berthoud is the name.
If you want to see the best "playing lead guitar on bass" player in the world check out forest (nickname) from first fragment. I'd particularly suggest his bass playthrough of his song soif brulante. Whether on your own time or as a reaction, this guy is nuts and is worth seeing.
The visuals of this video gives me so much Van Halen and 80's vibes in the best of ways. I hope I can tempt you with a look at another Swedish band that flies under the radar for most people. While maybe not as technically brilliant as DL they do entertain in the best of ways especially if you like the 80's rock vibes. Please have a look at the band Nestor and their songs On the Run and 1989.
It's a take on the 80's and 90's pop. You have not seen nothing yet just continue down the rabbit hole. If you're not totally blown away, I will burn my studio and kits to the ground. Please react to them on your channel !!!
There are a couple of easter eggs in the end credits that caters to their domestic audience and would be hard to spot for someone not very familiar with Sweden. Runar Søgaard is a Norwegian guy who used to be married to a famous Swedish singer. He's been the center of media attention a lot of times for a lot of reasons. A pretty bizarre dude who's both been a preacher and life coach aswell a tax evader and prisoner. Gudrun Schyman is a 75 years old former politician that used to be the leader of the Swedish left party and then went on to form a new feminist party. I don't think she's beatboxing that much. I'm 99% sure that "It's not a phase mom tattoo and body modification studios" doesn't exist outside of these end credits. Great name though! You're right about Serla Toiletpaper. Then there's Fonus, wich is a funeral home (could be a hint where they got the extra arms for Henrik?), Delicato makes desserts with high content of fat and sugar, Viktväktarna simply means Weight Watchers.
Really enjoying your reactions. you should definitely check out the band Polyphia. The song "G.O.A.T." is a great place to start with them. I promise you will be impressed.
Let me warn ya about those acrylic drums -- he's been touring with them (in a smaller setup, obviously) for a decade, and they sound freaking glorious in the room as well as through the PA. DW isn't gonna make crappy sounding drums, dude. And Aron ain't gonna play crappy sounding drums.
@@teckreactions You're going on impressions from a long time ago then. These ain't Vistalites. You'll have a lot more fun with this stuff with an open mind. Embrace change. Frankly, you ARE a fan because you said his drums sound great, and I guarantee you're listening to transparent shells in these recordings.
As a person that played drums for worship ala Jesus Culture, IHOP stuff from 2006-2011 ish, this band and their musicianship is mind blowing. The drummer is amazing. They're dynamics are amazing. Love everything about it
Are they staying on the 1 chord or are they just already on the second chord (the relative minor)? At 11:35 its easy to tell because the bass here is a different note that sounds more like "happy" (major) if that makes sense, and in the example you are referring to where they hang out it sounds minor to me. 11:15 for reference again One is G major and the other is E minor
@@nezkeys79 1 over 3. Where the root note (bass) is the 1, but the chord on top is the 3. In this case, G note on the bottom, E minor chord shape. Or a minor chord in first inversion. Easy way to transition from major to relative minor or vice versa.
@teckreactions there is no Em/G. Henrik plays an E in the first timestamp, and then a G in the second one Also it confused me when you described the slash chord because "3 over 1" implies the 3 chord over a G, which would be Bm/G, and "1 over 3" implies G/B 🤷 even if you were thinking in E minor (so E minor as the 1) the "1 over 3" still doesn't work because he isn't playing G there. I know what first inversions are I just confused with what you wrote
Whoa! How’d you land that? If only I’d the opportunity, I’d ask him how he developed his playing style. He must get “I’ve never seen a bass played like that” all the time and really pushes the capabilities of the instrument.
@@teckreactions I'm a podcaster, so I interview artists and musicians pretty regularly. My podcast is called "Journey to the Stage with Bryan Frazier" and it's on all the podcast platforms. I'll def ask him about how he developed his style. I just saw the band about a week ago in LA. They were truly incredible.
@@bryanf.1996 That sounds awesome. I just subscribed to your podcast! Looking forward to it. If you feel led to give your friend a shoutout, I'd be grateful, but not necessary. HAHA!
Honestly I wasn't that impressed with the tapping and sound effects stuff. It's nothing special in terms of what electric guitarists do, but just is interesting because you don't usually see a bass player soloing like this. Don't get me wrong it still sounds good but some people are acting like its ridiuculously difficult to play. Pretty sure any lead guitarist could work this out and play it
I am sorry. This is not live at all. it's a studio recording/video. You don't know that much about how people play music! No! they don't have four arms. the kit is huge because this is a homage to the 80/90's metal bands like Toto and Van Halen. In the four hand scenes he uses a 4 and 6 string bass as a gadget (BECAUSE IT'S NOT LIVE) Then in the solo scenes he reverts to a proper 8 string bass.
So…. Considering all I had to go off was the cover photo before hitting play, it looked live. Obviously, when I started the video, I quickly realized it was not live. I sure hope you didn’t consider my four arms statement seriously 😳 Further into the video, I understood the purpose of the big drums and crazy outfits. This was literally my first time watching it. I’ve been playing live music for 20 years. I’m aware how it works. But thanks for stopping by! 😊
@@robertkaye5434 I suspect mikedown1250 is more focused on trying to 'score points' than facts. Toto was not "metal". Combination of pop, rock/hard rock, R&B, soul, funk, and jazz, but not "metal". So don't take the comment too seriously. Remember: *_Do Not Feed The Trolls._* Best Wishes to You. ☮

Thanks!
This is what happens when you haven’t watched their other videos and seen their progression. You just went to Hendrik on full tilt and had your mind blown. 😂
Subscribed to enjoy your journey watching their other songs. You should do Work Sh*t Out - Aaron the drummer shows technical ability that will blow your mind like Henrik did in this 👍
That's next on the list!
80's baby YEAH! Release the HENRIK!
Released
No matter how you prepare - you're never quite prepared for new Dirty Loops! Besides being amazing musicians and composer/arrangers they have an incredible sense of humor (which also shows in the way they put their videos together - like Jonahs "pop-movements" here are definitely on purpose). Quite often their credits contain some hilarious comments (not so much in this one, but a bit at the start, as you noticed).
I had no idea what I was in store for.
Damn... the first playthrough it's a funny 80s sounding song with an insane bass solo... Then the vocal line hooks you and that's all you can hear for a bit and then after a few more listens, you start to realise the fucking insane musicality going on throughout the entire thing. I've probably listened to this 100 times now I I'm still picking up cool new things each time.
Same
1000+ views, well deserved! And the song, 150000+, not bad!
Thanks!
Great reaction video! You heard/saw some things I'd not caught (yet). Henrik's bass guitar playing on this song is a landmark that advances the entire pedagogy of the instrument. Mark my words, people will be talking about this for a while!
I agree!
Henrik is single-(um, quadruple)-handedly transforming bass playing as we know it.
Also Robert, have you seen above a comment by the maker of this Mattisson bass himself?
Super interesting, check it out 👍
@@fiddlestix3025 No. Where is it?
@@robertkaye5434 search for it under the comments, @andersmattisson4894 👍
You're in for such a great treat discovering the rest of their material! Henrrck is great at doing the splits!
Those are totally not his legs.
Extremely funny. 😂 Crazy, Over-The-Top and Joyful, The arms looked like a cheap special effect from 60s Dr Who.🤔
Aron's headband and tight T-shirt was a delightful little touch. Jonah absolutely looked the part. Fabulous! 👏
It is amazing they look like an '80s tribute, and sound like Anthem Rock crossed with Henrik's alien bass. 👍👍
They are a Total Joy at many levels.
Best Wishes, All. ☮
I loved it!
Thanks for making my day. Your reactions are wonderful.
You are so kind!
thanks for insightful thoughts, long journey ahead of you but my tip is to start with some early covers that they hit with "baby baby" (good bass solo) looking forward to more DL🤩
Thanks! Will do!
Loved your Dirty Loops reaction (that's how I came across your channel). There have been many suggestions for DL songs at this point, but I haven't seen Breakdown.
Also, if no one's mentioned it, they are about to go on a US tour.
I’m looking at dates! 😊
Omg your reactions are hilarious!!!
Im anxious to see you work your way through the rest of their catalog.
Me too!
Proud to be Swedish.
Sweet!
can't wait to see you react to more Dirty Loops. If you like them, you'll surely like Snarky Puppy if you haven't seen them already
I have not heard of them!
@@teckreactionsDifferent genere, but strongly advised from my side as well
Hook 3 Musicians that are over talented, and add effect hook up’s . The possibilities are endless. NO BOUNDARIES = Dirty Loops
Seriously.
Hey guy! The bass man can play chords on the bass! Keep going down that rabbit hole!
Rock on!
INSANE!! 🙌🏻🫶🏻❤️
Great reaction!
🤘🏻
He has 4 arms because people say he is so good that he plays with 4 arms, so he took it seriously with his sense of humour :D I love him!
Hilarious
In a word "Glorious"...
I laugh hard seeing your awe face,
Cos i know i made the same expression when i first hear this song
🤣
Henrik asked his fan on youtube if they want to se his split live 😊
🤣
You seem like the kind of guy who can appreciate Baard Kolstad's drumming. He plays for Leprous, which as a whole is an absolutely monsterous band, but InsideOutMusicTV has quite a few videos of Baard drumming to their songs. Start out with The Sky is Red, you won't be disappointed!
I’ll check it out.
"Disgusting". Word of the day.
If you haven't yet, you should watch the zildjian live sessions. My personal fave is theone with matt griener (august burns red drummer). Loads of talent in that room.
Will do!
before i waffle ... that bit you liked after the chorus ... all the hairs ... both arms ..full attention !!!
as a bass player who is too scared to upload .. yes we play the bass as an instrument ... not as a condiment
this guy is good ... there are others ... welcome to the world... before i go off the rails ... i play 6 , 5 ,4,string and upright ... this is none of that ... this is taking your coat off and rolling up youer sleeves in a majestic fashion ... wonderful !!!!!!!
edit ... there are multiples of the 4 , 5 and 6 versions of the bass .. up to i think a 36 string bass which is 3 strings per ... so the string ...one an octave up like a 12 string and one below like ...nothing ...multiplied by how many it takes to get to 36 ... then theres the ones with microtonals so it would be like a 6 string but thered be 2 of the higher strings one of....yeah you stopped reading a while back ...we are all having fun
I read every word.
A big part of the theme behind the video is a parody on the modern music industry. First clue: Aron "playing" the intro synth on a MacBook.
Hahaha!
Great channel and great insights!
Much appreciated!
I liked your reaction! If you do more dirty loops I'll be there watching! and if you want something new i suggest Ghost! ("Mary on a cross" in a good entry level song!)
Sweeeeeeet
DL are on tour in the US or about to start it!!!
I saw that. Closest city is six hours away.
We lost many great players...but we got Dirty loops .
Facts.
Here is the drum transcript of Dirty Loop's Run Away.

That’s crazy!
New sub.
I'll check it out!
The 4 arm thing is just a joke, because he's so awesome he plays like he has 4 arms.
Very few ppl have noticed the Easter egg of Henrik doing the splits 7:43 in your video 😂
🤘🏻
Give it to Dirty Loops for a fun knod to early 90s music.
Tecks face like he just saw Jesus. Lmao
On it!
Oh yes, that one is one of my absolute favourites, love it! Wish I could add it to my playlists…
It's the ringtone on my Samsung Galaxy.
He is using FM9 from fractal audio as his main sound and only uses like 2 of the analog pedals besides a tuner... all preprogrammed for all the songs ;)
So the size of the thing is just facade following suit with the rest of the video? 🤣
I’ve watched tons of his stuff!
If you want to see the best "playing lead guitar on bass" player in the world check out forest (nickname) from first fragment. I'd particularly suggest his bass playthrough of his song soif brulante. Whether on your own time or as a reaction, this guy is nuts and is worth seeing.
Sweet
This song gives me Polyphia vibes!
I wonder if they could ever collab in some way, might be too much talent at once though.. 😅
The world would explode.
If Prog Rock and Pop had a baby...
True
"Is that four arms?" Yes, two of them....
#lottalove this reaction! =)
It's a take on the 80's and 90's pop. You have not seen nothing yet just continue down the rabbit hole. If you're not totally blown away, I will burn my studio and kits to the ground. Please react to them on your channel !!!
On it
Sweatband is for dampening open strings while tapping
I figured that.
Eddy van Halen as a bassplayer
Facts.
Henrik does impossible stuff with that solo.
Completely insane.
What Eddie Van Halen would sound like on bass??
Look for Henrik's legs during the second solo too.
For reals.
Oh that’s funny.
Obviously the bassist is amazing but dang that drummer!!!
Also! If you havent heard polyphia, check them out as well. G.o.a.t. is probably where everyone who hasnt heard them starts.
I love Polyphia!
Do you like? the Pentagrams on the cape from Hendrik
I do not.
Am I imagining it, are the credits in some form of ASCII art?
💙💛
Hey man, loving the reacts! You should check out Impulsively Responsible by Intervals. Specifically Nathan Bulla's drum playthrough.

Really enjoying your reactions. you should definitely check out the band Polyphia. The song "G.O.A.T." is a great place to start with them. I promise you will be impressed.
I love Polyphia!
They are touring North America as of now. Maybe get yourself to a show? :)
I took a look. Closest they come to me is a five hour drive. Need to listen to more before I consider that investment.
Still not a fan.
@@RobertWrightOneManCovers I doubt he’s recording with those.
@@teckreactions It's in interviews, do your research.
@@RobertWrightOneManCovers I’m good
As a person that played drums for worship ala Jesus Culture, IHOP stuff from 2006-2011 ish, this band and their musicianship is mind blowing. The drummer is amazing. They're dynamics are amazing. Love everything about it
Nice!!!!
Gee fucking wizz indeed
Are they staying on the 1 chord or are they just already on the second chord (the relative minor)?
At 11:35 its easy to tell because the bass here is a different note that sounds more like "happy" (major) if that makes sense, and in the example you are referring to where they hang out it sounds minor to me. 11:15 for reference again
One is G major and the other is E minor
It’s possible it could be a 1/3 situation as they modulate.
@@teckreactionswhat do you mean by a 1/3 situation?
@@nezkeys79 1 over 3. Where the root note (bass) is the 1, but the chord on top is the 3. In this case, G note on the bottom, E minor chord shape. Or a minor chord in first inversion. Easy way to transition from major to relative minor or vice versa.
@teckreactions there is no Em/G. Henrik plays an E in the first timestamp, and then a G in the second one
Also it confused me when you described the slash chord because "3 over 1" implies the 3 chord over a G, which would be Bm/G, and "1 over 3" implies G/B 🤷 even if you were thinking in E minor (so E minor as the 1) the "1 over 3" still doesn't work because he isn't playing G there.
I know what first inversions are I just confused with what you wrote
@TECKreacts, I have an interview with Henrik coming up, anything you'd like me to ask him?
HAHA!
@@teckreactions sure thing. I'm happy to help cross promote
No easter egg ... i'm sending you to Uncle Rodger
To who?
John Bonham loved acrylic drums?????
That’s great. They still sound bad. He also used those before we had the different shells we have today. So there’s that.
They are poking fun at a lot of the 80's video troupes
I love it.
Please make your screen smaller and highlight the video instead
I’ll consider it. Seems to follow the normal flow of reactions though.
First
Cookie is in the mail.
This is the band Bill and Ted was ment to be.
Pretty sure any lead guitarist could work this out and play it
You need four arms to play a double neck. Duh!
I sure hope you didn’t consider my four arms statement seriously 😳
Further into the video, I understood the purpose of the big drums and crazy outfits. This was literally my first time watching it.
I’ve been playing live music for 20 years. I’m aware how it works. But thanks for stopping by! 😊
I think you mean 6-string bass.
@@robertkaye5434 I suspect mikedown1250 is more focused on trying to 'score points' than facts.
Toto was not "metal". Combination of pop, rock/hard rock, R&B, soul, funk, and jazz, but not "metal". So don't take the comment too seriously.
