So AI's highest average was 33 ppg in 05 -06. In today's less defensive and 3 ball NBA, can we give him 2 more 3s and 2 trips to the line? Reasonable? That's 10 points. He's at 43. Now imagine MJ!!! 🤯
Not reasonable at all lol. AI shot 30% from 3. For him to make 2 more 3s he needs to take 6 more shots. In the season you’re talking about he took 25 shots a game! Which sane coach would let him take 31? The most anyone takes in the league today is 22 field goals a game, and that’s only Luka. Most elite scorers take around 18.
The biggest point that’s going over a lot of heads is that AI’s mentality of the game is way different from harden, KD, and curry. His mind was fuck everyone else ima get a bucket regardless. Kobe said it himself that AI would be the greatest basketball player in history if he was 4 inch taller

I think you guys are missing the point.. when AI played, the floor was compact, and yes the pace was slow..AI didn't play slow...today's game is wayyy more faster and the floor is spread out more..in today's game he would get more FG attempts and because he has more midrange than James Harden, yes give a sreal r two then there is possible 6 to 8 points..he went to the line in his hey day mostly because he was getting bump around in the paint but if Harden ave 13 FTs and you give AI at least 10 in its possible...
@@minjlew Who you think I’m the current NBA about to let a dude shoot 50 times every game? No sir, every one is too talented now. He only got away with that bc he literally was the only offense
If you need more dribbles = more effective shots. then Less dribbles = Less effective shots. Harden would've been taking 40shots a game on a 34% shooting percentage. That's not good.
Oh, more OPPORTUNITES ?? So you're admiting it also could be potentially no TOs, Charges and bad shots? Maybe I should become an NBA coach and just tell the team, just dribble less....... That's the ball.
@@kieranj1332 The idea is, rushing shots likely means, moving screens (TOs), dribbling into traffic, no center/ forward set in place for an offensive rebound, more player Fatigue and bad shots. There is a reason D'antoni didn't win a ring, he didn't have the talent.
They didn’t point it out but Brandon made their point by mentioning Wilt Chamberlain. He said Wilt was the only one to average over 40, well Wilt didn’t waste time dribbling, he would dive straight to the basket and get into position.
No that proves his point. More dribbling means less scoring attempts. Their whole premise contradicts their argument. lol we can’t be that slow to think if you dribble more that means you will score more. The more you dribble the more time is wasting off. Then you still have to account for the time on defense. James harden actually hurts his self and his team from getting more possessions and scoring attempts because when the ball is in his hands you will lose 10 seconds off the clock. Lol
That’s honestly the most important part of playing basketball. If it doesn’t result in winning then you gotta come up with a better game plan. AI may could score that much but they definitely not winning a championship having him do that.

@@gangstagummybear3432 the crazy thing is people actually liked your reply. 3 point shooting actually drags down the shooting percentage. Its a harder shot to make. He’s 6’11”. If he scored less than 50 percent at the basket thats a problem. What you said in response to me makes no sense.
@@iamrysheem It isnt a harder shot to make, not in the current era, thanks to the spacing, with its volume being so much lower than 2's it is going to be a higher impact on the total field goal percentage even if you only make 40% of them, the mid range areas are harder guarded so that makes the mid range alot harder to shoot, the proof is in the pudding, with the influx of swapping out high volume 2s for lower volume of total shots, but more 3s all the field goal percentages have gotten higher, what I said in response makes total sense if you have a brain.
@sakpase88 what's the point of spacing if you not passing... sooner or later they gonna see.. hey he not passing out of double teams.... send the triple
So coaches and defenders would just sit and watch him get 40 every night. Is that what you guys think? Prime James Harden was arguably the most unguardable player in NBA history and he played close to 81 games a season and he couldn't get past 36 points. Old geezers on steroids. These guys are rewriting history. Fox, John wall, DRose, WestbrooK super fast, more athletic, bigger than Iverson don't even come close to 35 ppg. Giannis comes at you every possession and he is less than 30. Iverson would be so tired chasing players on defense and getting posted up by bigger guards that he would be throwing up air balls. Coaches would put AI on pick and rolls and post him up to death. AI would be so tired mid season he would load manage.
fox, John wall, and drose are bad comps. okc Westbrook without Durant (or without pg) is an ok comp because of relentlessness. giannis is also an ok comp for same reason. not sure about AI getting worn down. he was the most in shape player for many years in a row. All this to say, I don't think he'd average 45. Maybe 40 cause his relentlessness and cause his team strategy required that he take 25+ shots a game
Watch how slow an NBA game is from Iverson's era. No way in hell is he playing 40 minutes a game today when he has to chase shooters and run around screens all game.
Exactly. Him playing faster and then playing defense on someone playing fast too is PLENTY of Fatigue. Plus, what happens when you force AI to guard mismatches when he plays D?

Young cats say, "take ur time. just pull it out and dribble" WHY? Why PULL it back for a dribble combo when I am coming off a curl or pin down 10-12 feet from the basket to move further back to go full 2K mode. Or, I look up all 4 dudes are on the wings just looking, no slot cuts from weak side, nobody is moving just waiting for me to dribble > drive and kick out for a 3 OR for them spam into a dribble package making the possession way harder to score... His scoring output came with a lot of missed shots. He’d probably need 40 shots a night to average 43. It’s just not happening;
You have no idea what you’re talking about, sorry. The reason guys aren’t doing it now is because there’s more talented scorers on the team they play on. I think it's like 3-5 players in NBA history that could've put up 40+ppg if they wanted to, in this era. With so much small ball play and very little focus on interior Defense/ Defenders. Prime-MJ, Wilt, Shaq, Kareem, and Kobe. and a few more that might come close. Like AI...
This is an insane take. If Embiid isn't averaging 40+ then Wilt, Shaq and Kareem not doing it either. I think people are confusing scoring 40 with averaging 40. It's crazy difficult to average 40 points over 82 games.
MJ didn’t do it when they had “illegal defensive rules” what makes y’all believe he would do it today? Todays defense is more advanced. Jordan never seen a zone defense
That dribble stat won the argument for Iverson because he would have way more possessions which means more shooting attempts which means it’s likely he can score 40+ ppg.

Nobody ever in their prime is averaging 40 pts a game in this era because teams will blitz you at half court and make you pass the ball. If 1 guy is taking at least 25 or more shots a game, he's gonna wear out by the end of the season too. If franchises want to win, no 1 guy is gonna give you 40 pts a game all season. The crazy thing is, he understood everything they were saying, but this is what it looks like when someone doesn't want to be wrong and it's sad coming from a man smh
Simply put the reason AI would score 45 in today’s game is cause when he played the defense always focused on him and had more than 1 body on him majority of the time like you practically got the whole opposite team guarding one guy and he still had a great average. You take away the defensive focus and maybe add someone that is scorer as well in today’s game with how defensive fouls are called he would definitely be balling.
You changing the question. If he comes back with the same team, the defense will still focus on him and he won't score no 40PPG. Put a equal caliber player along side him will be less shots for him, so no 40 PPG.
I love AI but y'all gotta stop capping. Because AI was undersized and had questionable shot selection he was inefficient as a scorer. There are some years where he's shooting 38-39% from the field. Not from 3, from the field. Seasons where he's shooting like 28% from 3. He was a 6'0 shooting guard playing 40 mins a night, taking 26 shots to average 30. Your shot attempts should never match your points. AI isn't averaging 40 bro. Stop it
I watched this live the other day...but like I think It depends on his teammates.....if he was in Jordan poole situation where he has 100% control to create... And he put up 24-27 shots per game....he could definitely get close to 40 if not eclipse 40 ...with the pace and space of today's game I think ppl forget Iverson was doin what he was doing when scores was like 93-86 and it was considered a good game Now games are 126-117
AI was relentless, with the floor spread and no bigs in his way, he's easily averaging 38 points a game. He's way faster than anyone they could put in front of him. His layup package was impeccable and he lived off his midrange.. He shot threes occasionally.. I think he would shoot no more than 6 threes a game... He was way rougher than anyone playing in todays game... 38 sounds good to me... Only because they would cut his minutes slightly even though he never got tired...
Are you serious... There isn't one person in the NBA faster than AI today.... Luka, Jokic are not athletes.... A 40 year old LeBron is killing this trash product
...could have played in the NFL, Deion Sanders like but a quarterback and receiver with Safety and cornerback two additional positions with that football skill and toughness...
Gil is right though even McCants. This isn't about AI being better this is about his mentality and the fact he loved to shot the ball. His first 7 seasons included hand checking. No one is staying in front of him now. He also goes from 4 3pts a game to 8 to 10. On that alone he scores 6 more points. Prime AI was 33 a game, add just the 2 additional 3s he's 39. He doesn't have rim protectors meeting him at the basket so that's probably 2 to 3 more makes on his 2 point shots. So another 4 to 6 points. So he's getting 43 to 45 points a game. His style requires getting more fouls so he's getting more free throws. Today's league would benefit AI tremendously.
So basically he would have to take 31 or 32 shots a game to get his 40. Yea nobody is taking that many shots a game on average add on the the fact that if he’s playing in todays game he’s not averaging 43 mpg there’s no way any coach is allowing that. So basically there’s no way he’s averaging 40 in today’s league if he has to average 31 shot attempts in about 38 minutes of play time.

Guys, this podcast is addictive.. what I love most is the individual passion, and at the end, it's nothing personal...bless
Luka is basically doing the same thing with better efficiency.
"James harden was arguably the most unguardable player in NBA history" lol
fox, John wall, and drose are bad comps. okc Westbrook without Durant (or without pg) is an ok comp because of relentlessness. giannis is also an ok comp for same reason. not sure about AI getting worn down. he was the most in shape player for many years in a row.
All this to say, I don't think he'd average 45. Maybe 40 cause his relentlessness and cause his team strategy required that he take 25+ shots a game

People saying mj would average 45 kill me. The defense couldn’t even shadow or zone. It was only man to man and if you didn’t hard double it’s a tech on the defense. You can’t soft double in the 80s or 90s
@@HoopsRaccoon True. MJ cant even go left. mj averaging 30-35 max. he just jaylen brown but bald.
MJ averaged 37 during a season in the 80s. He’d definitely average 40+ now
@@kyleflores9385 im a C's fan but ur high
@@kyleflores9385the problem with people who say things like this is he was already averaging 35-37 while getting the shit beat out him. They hard fouled him every time. He just put on muscle. Mj is a 10x scoring champ. Even with the 3 ball and game that are like 30-40 points higher than when he played. None of these new player have come close to his average.
Im sorry MJ was a uber competitive psychopath. He’d fuck around and start shooting 3’s.
You cant even say players today are more athletic because he still has the highest recorded vertical in the nba. He also was a great two way player. He went hard on defense and still would drop 40.
These new guys do not have that kind of energy.
Im sorry. The mj hate is wild.
This New NBA AI will go Brazy out here 🤧
Facts 😂
Stop the cap 🧢
Facts no cap at all. He’s too fast for these locks today. And he pull up with blinders at 6 ft. and get steals. He would go crazy today
@@elijahdratte1118 well tell him to prove then
@@elijahdratte1118fast but short they touchn his shots
Nobody ever in their prime is averaging 40 pts a game in this era because teams will blitz you at half court and make you pass the ball. If 1 guy is taking at least 25 or more shots a game, he's gonna wear out by the end of the season too. If franchises want to win, no 1 guy is gonna give you 40 pts a game all season. Elite championship teams want role players comfortable taking big time high % shots in the biggest games in the playoffs especially on the road.
AI is one of the reasons I picked up a basketball.
He is not AVERAGING 43 points in today's game.
He averaging 45 😂😂😂
@TGTBTUPoddy definitely not. If LEBRON, KD, STEPH, KYRIE etc. some of the best shooter and scorers basketball has ever seen not doin it, AI definitely aint.
@@TGTBTUPoddyIverson is exactly why I picked up a ball, wore a headband, and got cornrows and I say he’s definitely not averaging 43. Saw his whole career
@@TheStones92 he’s the reason I still cry myself to sleep watching the sixes lose 🤣🤣🤣🤣
They was straight yappin.
Just jaw japping and gibber jabbering
I say jibber jabber all the time. Shout out to OG Mr. T and all the cats that still use it.
The saddest part about this is that they’re talking about the biggest problem with the NBA today without actually saying it competitiveness in the lack of defense and physicality, has water down this game
AI is not averaging 43 fucking points STOP IT!
The crazy thing is, he understood everything they were saying, but this is what it looks like when someone doesn't want to be wrong and it's sad coming from a man smh
To think Iverson wasn't making 4 more shots a game today is delusion
Simply put the reason AI would score 45 in today’s game is cause when he played the defense always focused on him and had more than 1 body on him majority of the time like you practically got the whole opposite team guarding one guy and he still had a great average. You take away the defensive focus and maybe add someone that is scorer as well in today’s game with how defensive fouls are called he would definitely be balling.
He averages 26.7 for his career he is not adding 16-17 points you guys are lost
@@strahinjasalajic627exactly. They sound like the 90’s players sound now. Sheesh, everybody who was great then wouldn’t be GREATER today.
You changing the question.
If he comes back with the same team, the defense will still focus on him and he won't score no 40PPG.
Put a equal caliber player along side him will be less shots for him, so no 40 PPG.
@@strahinjasalajic627 At this rate, we're about 2 year before we start hearing Random NBA Bust would average 20 PPG in today's game.
FOR SOMEONE TO AVERAGE 43 POINTS THEY WOULD HAVE TO SHOOT THE BALL 32 TIMES A GAME AND 13 FREE THROWS A GAME. THATS INSANE
Is AI faster than Fox 🦊?
Yes
@@josheasy6716 no
Hell no
Fuck no
I love AI but y'all gotta stop capping. Stop it
How does the dribble argument not make sense ? 3 shot attempts in 24 seconds creates more shots and more points than 1 shot attempt every 20 seconds.
I watched this live the other day...but like I think
It depends on his teammates.....if he was in Jordan poole situation where he has 100% control to create...
And he put up 24-27 shots per game....he could definitely get close to 40 if not eclipse 40 ...with the pace and space of today's game
I think ppl forget Iverson was doin what he was doing when scores was like 93-86 and it was considered a good game
Now games are 126-117
What team besides the Detroits, Charlottes, Washingtons, etc would he be able to get up that many shots???
@@thetarheel2010j those might be the only teams....like I said it depends on his teammates
Only because they would cut his minutes slightly even though he never got tired...
he’s an average athlete in today’s league, too short for defensive efficiency. 23 & 7 with 37-44 win teams.
Are you serious... There isn't one person in the NBA faster than AI today.... Luka, Jokic are not athletes.... A 40 year old LeBron is killing this trash product
@mistadavis4336 De'aaron Fox and Ja are both on par with AI
How could Brandon Jennings be So slow to process simple information. Goodness gracious
2000s players are staring to sound like Old heads😭 I’m giving him 30-34 max but he’s NOT averaging 40+ with a broken jumper
Why is this even a real conversation so you telling me ai would be the best scorer in nba history if he played today
McCants telling BJ to prove a hypothetical situation😂
like what, they cant prove he would avg 40 either bc he never did
AI is not 10x faster than Ja. he was quick but mfs talking about him like he’s usain bolt
...could have played in the NFL, Deion Sanders like but a quarterback and receiver with Safety and cornerback two additional positions with that football skill and toughness...
Jennings been in them mosh pits, he’s tweaking 😂
Ai average 30 on a zone with no shooters…. Now put him into todays era we’re he’s playing with 4 other shooters, so he’s not getting doubled.
Brandon really be chatting
