- Melodic and intimist Bowie's version, in a low tonality embellished with velvety nuances that highlight his vibrant voice, for this masterpiece which never ceases to amaze.
he could play this song in country or jazz and I'd still love it.
it's impressing, the fact bowie had b[never repeated himself even performing his old songs over and over! he alwyas managed to keep his songs fresh by changing the arrangements
The "maybe we're lying" at 3:36 is giving me goosebumps. Divine.
Yep

Berlin lives on.
The spirit of the Children from Bahnhof Zoo lives on
@GoldenYears77
His live, of course! Personally, I cannot say the same thing for many, many others. It's a matter of presence: clear intelligence, powerful creativity, mastery of the stage, several kind of talents, firmness, seriousness, great preparation, love for music and so on ... David said in an interview that it would be absurd if someone else had prepared a concert for an artist. Ha ha, they seem as concepts of another world, nowadays.
Thanks to you, dear (and to Bowie, of course).
prolly the best of all the versions of this I have watched recently....
It seems like during the Outside\Earthling era all David's songs got a new life. They sounded absolutely different and totally amazing. I see the biggest reason for the new sound in Reeves Gabrels. He's one of my all time favourite guitarists.
Thank you, Fio for the videos from the Lorelei gig. Your uploads of it are of the higher quality than other available on YT! Keep posting them! :)
Awesome rendition of a classic .
That vocal is outstanding .
Who is the drummer .? Omg what a groove . Very aggressive to match David’s approach .!!! Great 👍🏻
( as usual !) why do we keep losing our “ Hero’s …..??
Zachary Alford. Dude is straight up one of the best!
I can no longer add this video to my favourites, because I have already ;-) Soo great !!
@64blueblue I absolutely agree with you. Musically and artistically, he is - among the greatest artists that have ever lived - the sun that enlightens the world, and his light will shine forever and ever.
I heart Dave so much when he's bring camp as Christmas
Heroes is... not a favourite of mine, to put it mildly. But even this song is given so much more live and freshness with a bit of Outside flavour sprinkled on top (in fact it gives me the same vibes as Strangers When We Meet, which *is* my favourite Bowie song). Truly his most creatively complete era.
@redsails2008
Definitely.
Especially in those who believe strongly that music has the ability to give shape and strength to things that contain within itself ideals, values, beauty, trust, openness to change, dignity ...
Perhaps is most importantly learn to love than to be loved.
And Bowie, a man of honour, has touched the entire world's heart with this music.
Thank you.
@tottersyard
A great concert, also this one (like many of DB). An important Tour: marked an umpteenth turning point not only for Bowie, but for music.
Many thanks to you.
@Scoobydoonut
What a beautiful comment, my dear Carol; it speaks about you; it tells of your being one of the most profound and pure admirer, as always, because connected with the Soul of the Artist.
Thanks to you, really.
R.I.P David Bowie

an anthem for love
te adoro David vem d novo B R A S I L !!
Great song by Mr Bowie....many thanks for uploading***** xx Susan
😭
@PeterShishlin
I agree, is irrefutable. The way in which Bowie has always been regenerated with new vigor speaks volumes about his intelligence and his innate artistic verve.
Oh yes, Gabrels is a "guitar-hero", a brilliant composer, a real experimenter, eclectic and instinctive, irrepressible dispite a certain nonchalance, very very rock, maybe ... another Alien, ha ha. David and Reeves form a very successful pairing in this concert. Great Band.
Thanks Peter, do you say that I can continue?
The Tin Machine era. Bowie was exceptionally hot in my expert opinion.
@Manuel Ramirez As you wish. The Tin Machine was over. Be that as it may, Bowie evokes the Tin Machine era here *to me.* Nice hard edge.
My knowledge of the era in question is superficial, I admit it. I meant to comment on Bowie's hotness at one temporal moment, not to split hairs about whether the music was Baroque or Romantic.
Look at people's intent, dude, and work on not taking everything so literally. Speaking for myself, I've struggled with the b&w world of Asperger's for 67 years and I'm far happier when I don't take facts so seriously. In music there are more important considerations.
At least we both love Bowie enough to tussle about him 🙌
@tomlind68
Ha ha, therefore I deduce that the acoustics and visibility, for you who often had attended, was excellent (also showing the best that there isn't LOL).
Well ... from the videos I realized that it was a great beautiful place. It's unfortunate that is deactivated. Only a small flaw: the audience a little faraway and, Bowie, has always liked to be almost hand to hand with his audience.
Thanks so much for the testimony and the comment.
He could dance like a fool or a junkie shake your arms I'm a dancer
@theMusicofmyLife1 It would absolutely great to see the whole concert on your channel, Fiorella! If you like posting these wonderful videos you should continue doing this, but nobody is going to force you of course :)

Who is the guitar player? I really like him. :)
+skyesgems He's Reeves Gabrels, songwriter and record producer. A member of British band The Cure since 2012, Gabrels is well known for his long partnership with Bowie, with whom he worked regularly from 1987 to 1999, and with whom he was a member of the band Tin Machine. Throughout, Gabrels developed his own wide-ranging creative identity by performing, writing and recording independently and in collaboration with musicians worldwide.
As a guitarist, Reeves Gabrels is recognized for his virtuosity and versatility, able to explore sonic extremes with a great, adaptive intuition for what each song needs most. He has also been characterized as "one of the most daring rock-guitar improvisers since Jimi Hendrix". Me too like this artist! Thanks for watching.
I always liked Tin Machine. I just didn't like any songs. I wish I'd discovered these covers sooner.
Never forget the great god Bowie.

Knock it off, Reeves 🙄
the lead guitar is silly and irritating, where is Earl?
this version is terrible, too much intro guitar, too much flange and reverb
+SenorQuichotte I like it... he always liked doing his songs differently.. I love this version. :)
yes agree, you dont mess with an iconic guitar part like that!
Dude--that's Reeves Gabrels--probably Bowie's favorite all-time guitar player, close friend, and collaborator. And he did fantastic things with that guitar part IMO. It needed an update--Bowie was always moving forward.
Andy Martin couldnt agree more !
One of the best versions I've heard IMO.
