ph8349, I am so sorry for your loss.
My daughter Birka didn't tell about her wishes regarding music to be played in her remembrance service. She silently went away and took her own life in the midst of norwegian nature 09.09.23. Since she was a big Bowie-fan, Absolute Beginners or Heroes would have suited well. Years ago she had drawn that avatar I am using here. I will miss her to the end of my days.😭

Lost my beautiful wife in 2001.
I thought I had no tears left, but after the sad news of David I realise I do have tears...lots of tears.
Been playing "Heroes" a lot and welling up.
Don't ask why but I only just found this extraordinary performance, and the emotive lyrics, and astonishing musicianship
and passion in David's performance, and whilst reading all the comments have reduced me to a blubbering wreck!
We are from the same time, and those halcyon days of the sixties are with me forever......xx

Music has a way of bringing our emotions out and has a way taking us to a time of when things were special in our life. Be strong tho it's not easy. The 70’s, the 80’s, the 90’s - it doesn’t really matter. David Bowie was ‘The Boss’. This is what being a ‘ rock star’ means. Everyone else can just watch, listen and learn. That’s what the man left behind.

Love how he smiles so much while singing through this, the love shines through. That bounce of his fist at 2:55 in rhythm also reflect his enthusiasm for this song. What a band this was.🔥 Garson's piano and Earl Slick's guitar elevate this way beyond the studio version IMO. The more I listen, the more it becomes apparent how great a song this is. In a period where his work was at its most patchy, he comes up with something beautiful and very moving.❤️

    As long as we're together
The rest can go to hell
    I absolutely love you
    But we're absolute beginners

    But nervous all the same

As long as you're still smiling
    There's nothing more I need
    I absolutely love you
    But we're absolute beginners
But if my love is your love
    We're certain to succeed
    If our love song
