It’s fair for a 2JZGTE +500whp to be around 20K There are MK3s that have the exact same setup up of MK4s and they are asking 20k but that SAME set up on a MK4 is already at 70k
I've had my 89 Ma70 with 7mgte and R154 for 7 or 8 years now, I think it looks better than the Mk4, I like it so much I dropped 15K on a forged engine rebuild a year ago, it's awesome.
I was 18 yrs old working at a Toyota dealer as a lot tech around 2008 I also drove appraisals from new car to used car dealership. One car that I’ll never forget was a blue 2 door Corolla GTS manual from the early 90s. I instantly loved it and wanted one. Later I learned it was an ae92.
I bought my all original 1986.5 mk3 metallic blue/blue interior/7mge auto for $1k in 2020, 222k miles still runs good just changed out the starter the other day which was a PAIN in the a$$
Yeah those starters are not easy at all to get to. Man you got a hell of a deal, I feel like every gets these cheap. My 88 with 115K miles was $8,000 in 21' but it's incredibly nice and in great shape.
You got a damn good deal. I paid 2500 15 years ago for a 91 turbo white package blue interior 5 speed targo. Now I see auto non turbos for 8 to 12k lmao they're out of their minds.
Bought a 86.5 in early '87 with 5200 miles on it! I was working at a Toyota dealership as a tech and working on the car when the owner comes up. He tells me he dislikes this car would I like to buy it. It was blue with blue interior & auto trans. It was a great looking car. I said how much and he threw out a price when my future wife came walking up and I said this guy wants to sell this pretty new car and she said lets buy it!! So it was a pretty cool wedding gift to us! Sold the car 6 yrs later with 90,000 miles on it and no problems at all! Only problem was the tires. Came with Goodyear Eagles . P O S tires Last about 5000 miles. Put on a set of Toyo's on it & problem gone. Still wish we had it.
There was the NA, NA sport package, Sport version, turbo, turbo sport, the GT 3.0 and GT 3.0 limited on US Markets. Pros they are all 7ms so parts are available for them. My mk3 is a 7mgte sport version so it has the targa top🙌 430whp for now on it, and my other mk3 is NA sport version and garnet red with the trims red and grey interior
I used to work with a guy that had one of the two-tone blue cars and man did it ever look sharp once he put the drop Springs and 19 inch rims on it. I have owned eight of these cars myself and I was very close to a teal one time but just couldn't make a deal with the owner for anything resembling a reasonable amount of money
I have a Supra GA70 with the 2.0L 1G-GTE. I got burned once by a BHG on the way home to my country with a Supra I bought in 2018. The 1G is the most fuel efficient Supra mk3 engine and possibly the most reliable from factory. No need to do anything to it to avoid an inevitable pitfall down the line. It has none of the options like ABS, LSD, electronic dash and seat adjustment. Aside from LSD I'm glad there's less electronic stuff that can go wrong. I've already dealt with the climate control going bad and well as the radio being wonky on volume.
I’ve owned my 89 turbo targa 5 speed since 2002, it’s currently going through a full resto mod, all glass is out, engine out, interior out, wiring out, fully replaced suspension components and all polyurethane bushings, I have the rare 3 piece jdm tail light set and even more rare a carbon fiber targa top made by carbonfiberfx owner Duane the famous 1,032hp 7MGTE white mk3 Supra. I did some research on paint rarity and decided that being yellow was never offered on the mk3 and was the rarest color for the mk4 I’m painting mine yellow. My mk3 will have a blue raptor lined engine bay, neon blue carpet kit, red Bride or Sparco seats, sparco blue suede steering and suede shift boot, interior color of mine is mint condition with gray the color. I’m also doing TIG welder rear 2” fender flares to give it a little more flare then factory without the cheap riveted plastic flares. I want to find the old school 3 spoke advan wheels in blue but they are so expensive and rare these days. Also building out a DART 2JZ block once it’s available next year. Great video!
Old school but I got the first 82 mk 2, it was a superb vehicle and was able to keep up with 5.0 mustangs mid range and interstate runs, far better car. Wish I had gotten the mk3 turbo and have no desire for a later Supra. I worked at a dealership and was able to drive both an MR2 turbo and Supra twin turbo in 1994.. the MR2 was the faster beast
Hey me too, 88. That's how you get them at reasonable prices though. Less to go wrong. I still love the car. People always talk about huge power from a GTS or of course 2JZ swaps but that's massive amounts of money. I just wanted mine to look her absolute best.
You skimmed over the leaks a lot. Yeah the targa top is just likely going to leak a bit. I went over all the seals in the car with Shin-Etzu and you'll still get some very light dripping on the passenger side around the nut. The rear hatch is known to leak too. I took the trim out and put sealant around the plastic push pins. I still have a pretty bad leak around the driver taillight and it's not the taillight seals ($50, just replace them) luckly it all pools in the rear driver's tire well and is easy to clean up. They are known to leak power steering fluid and in my case it was just two hoses that needed replacing. If it's the entire rack, you are in for a bad time. Adore my MK3, it's amazing.
That's weird, I have never had a water leak from my sportroof or rear hatch seals, but my steering rack drips.. not sure which of our two situations i'd rather be in lol motor was going to come out in the next couple years anyway, once i get bored of hybrid CT
I got one of these in high school. 2009 i think, for 3k. 89. Auto. Turbo. Sunroof. Great condition. I still have a rebuilt 7mgte and im looking for a shell 😈
I got a 87 mk3 7m-gte about a month ago in really good condition but the only problem that it has is that the mirror covers on the left and right are cracked. I am really struggling to find new mirrors and honestly have no idea where to find any parts, body accessories and such for this car. I was wondering if anyone knew or could help me figure this out. I would appreciate it.
They got a mk3 sitting in someone’s backyard just collecting rust. I used to pass by it everyday on the bus and legit dream about walking up to the house, knocking on the door and asking to buy it. It’s completely stock too. It’s still there cause that was only like a year ago (yeah sad I’m a junior in hs and still ride the bus💀)
Dude. I think I just bought the two tone black/grey. I doubt it was a respray. 1990. 3.0 turbo. The car is immaculate. All electrics work and buttons are stock with 0 wear. Just mild rust in arches. If I upload a short video would you check it out if it looks legit?
I have a '91 non-turbo with the factory sun roof/moon roof/whatever they called it. So I think you may have bad info about that? I dunno. I read that that there were supposedly only 300 total factory sunroof cars, '91-'92. But other sources suggest that number could be 300 per year. So I'm not sure.
I bought a JZA70R 2 weeks ago. Absolutely loving it! After 2 A80s the interior in the A70 is much better. Soft touch everywhere and not plasticky.
im a little jealous lol nice
Ppl are trippin, all of sudden then want 20k for these smh
Still better than 200k for mk4

I had a red 1990 Supra Turbo with the targa top. I will own that vehicle again some day.
I had a 91. Same. Miss it.
In 1988 the Supra Turbo Targa was the ultimate dream car. A car that was way ahead of its time.

just bought a 1jzgte vvti A70 with a R154 and a targa have been searching forever so glad I finally found one

89 saw an ECU change as well as a block upgraded. Limited existed as a trim for leather.
