  • Perform this repair to attempt fixing the infamous Nexus 5 boot loop. Google flashing over and over is a tell-tale sign. This repair also happens to use the exact same process, and exact same repair part as the Samsung Galaxy s3, s4 and possibly more.

Finally a man that can replace that button. Now all I need is 100 $ investment in sovering equipment or Ebay version of the Phone.

It is really rather neat work. It is the best to replace buttons and connectors using mostly a solder wick but not solder fan. But I advice you to unsolder using Rose's metal, it makes many times easier and safer to unsolder components.

John Fleggas, do you happen to have a part number for that pushbutton. I know that it is some sort of SMD tactile switch, but if you could post a part number it would save a ton of time looking through the catalog on element14.

I just opened up mine and cleaned the power button with contact cleaner (alcohol) and compressed air can and its fixed. It was just dirty and sticky. Check out my video to see how i did it.

+Weekend Agenda They're really susceptible to debris and the like. So a good cleaning is the perfect first step of the process of elimination. Good job! Only attempt board level work as a last resort as it could cause further damage.

It's impressive how you did this so smoothly. I attempted this last night on a donor board, and it was messy. What temperature is your iron at? Also you seemed to be able to get the solder out of the holes with the wick / braid; I really struggled with this for a long time - it just wouldn't come out. I ended up just indenting the warm solder with the end of a hot pointed iron bit.
