I give Lex 5 metal horns out of 5 for correctly reacting to this. That is the correct amount of enthusiasm one should show to Megadeth.
I have to say it brings me such joy seeing you younger generations getting it. I vividly remember getting into Megadeth in the early 90s when I was old enough to buy their albums for myself with a paper route I had. Megadeth and Iron Maiden particularly I remember being the ONLY person in my school wearing their T-shirts. This was when everyone was all about Nirvana and Pearl Jam and Boys 2 Men and Mariah Carey and to everyone else (even my teachers) I might as well have been wearing an 80s glam metal outfit because "That style of music" as they would tell me was dead as disco and done and over with. I needed to move on with my musical tastes.
Here you two are 3 decades later proving that theory wrong and me right. Nothing against other types of music but this stuff is timeless and will always be great no matter how much time has passed.
Preach it! I'm just 10 or so years older, same story though. PREACH!! The masters never go out of style.
this is the stuff me and my buddies were listening to throughout our teens. we were "Headbangers" or "bangers". It was an amazing scene that only lasted 5 or 6 years. So much music that blew my mind! Sooo good!

Bad Omen is my favorite, best bass in that song.
You can really hear the jazz influences in the songs via the solos on this album thanks to Chris Poland and then the drumming of Gar.

Dave does a great vocal here. The effects added make him sound evil and at times like a demon, which fits the lyric content perfectly.
Specially when he says oil his voice goes diferent just crazy

It's amazing how much those contacts change the entire look of Lex's face.
During the intro, when Lex hears the guitar (1:15 into video), something seems to overtake her body. I don't think Dave's cast any spells lately, she is just truly feeling through her body what only metal heads can relate to. Also, I watched the livestream for this where Brad didn't think he'd like "ORION", quoting Brad from your Master of puppets reaction, that middle part was "my speed" and "took me somewhere". ORION will take you someplace and and I think you'll love it.

According to Mustaine the lyrics of this song are literal as he stopped performing this song on live sets after he became a born again Christian claiming that the lyrics are ACTUAL instructions to a witchcraft ritual he performed when he was younger. Just adds an extra layer of spooky vibes to the song in my opinion.

This song has one of the best breakdowns/ riffs in all of thrash (at the 5:00 mark in this video). The song Peace Sells... But Who's Buying? is a must listen next
The song gives instructions on hexes or curses. It's a reference to Dave's youth in Black Magic.
"Metal is majestic" that's the level of how much she gets it. What she means is that Metal is power,strength of attitude and mind. Metal is majestic

Dave Mustaine wrote the lyrics relating to his own experiences with the occult. He wrote about it in his book and talks about it a little. They don't play this song live anymore because Dave is a Christian now and it's too evil of a song now, I guess. The spell is real. The order of the steps is changed.

One of my top 3 fav Megadeth songs. Behind the entire Rust in Peace record and In my Darkest Hour.
Next for Lex...finding a favorite guitarist/favorite band. Amassing a t-shirt collection. Buying physical copies of her music (and realizing how much better vinyl sounds than digital)...awww. it's like baby's first steps.
Okay, story time......
When I was in 8th grade, everyone in my music class needed to bring in the record or cassette of your favorite band and play a song, and give essentially a report of what you like the most about the band/song.......
I brought in this tape and played this song!
Everyone else brought in poppy songs or their parents music. Everyone else was allowed to play their songs in full. I got cut short and didn't get to finish my report.
I too had this in school for music class, me however was in the late 70's and I brought in Black Sabbath and the song Black Sabbath. Even though it made the teacher as well as the class a bit nervous and because my report on the band as well as the songs meaning was so thorough I got a💯 on it. 🤘😎🤘

@masterstyl I think that makes sense. At my high school we had the choices of Latin, French and Spanish. It only makes sense that another essentially westernized European country would have English as a foreign language in school.
My good buddy Sean Smithson created Megadeth’s mascot Vic Rattlehead. It’s his drawing that is on the Megadeth demo, they gave him a thank you on the back of this album.

That was the late Gar Samuelson on drums. He as well as Chris Poland, the other guitarist were also accomplished Jazz musicians.

Dave Mustaine for a brief time was into the occult, but ultimately he moved away from it. He actually tries not to play this song live anymore, cause it has actual "spell instructions" from occult books he used to read.

the great thing is as a metal fan (any music, really, applies to others as well) these "moments" you have continue to come back... they may come less frequent if you have heard almost anything under the sun in a certain genre, but from time to time, it just "hits" you again. I had that experience yesterday at a festival where from the first bass note of the soundcheck a new band just d*ckd me in the ass (excuse my french)

I just remember listening to the middle section and saying to myself " Hey, wait a minute, that's a black magic spell"..
Yes, this an actual conjuring spell. A friend of mine who was into dark shit told me that back in 86/87. In those days lyrics were hard to find so I was surprised he recognized it because I could only make out some of what Dave was saying.
During this time, Mustaine was into black magic, witchcraft. Conjuring and good mourning/black Friday are two songs that references that stuff. However when he reformed into a Christian, He stop playing those two song live for long time

This is a song on how to put a Hex on someone but Dave left out various parts on purpose so layman can’t perform the Hex. He used to dabble in black magic via his sister and her boyfriend.

In the late 80's just before they started headlining their own tours I watched Megadeth open for Alice Cooper in Kansas City. Great show.
Dave Mustaine used to be into witchcraft. He no longer plays this song because yes, part of the lyrics are instructions on how to cast a spell on somebody. He swears it worked.
Brad and Lex, if you want to hear Dave the Prophet in terms of Megadeth lyrics you have to do their circa 2007 track 'Washington is Next' followed up by the live version on the French Canadian TV show 'Musique Plus'. If you think about the lyrics to that song in the context of 2020/2021 it will send shivers down your spine, and so will the technical guitar mastery....
Gotta check out "Tornado of Souls" on Rust In Peace. My favorite song, from my favorite album by my favorite band. Arguably the best metal guitar solo of all time.

I'm having fun watching Lex become a metalhead. I've been one since, well, really the early days of rock & metal. But I also love rap, R&B, jazz, etc. And while it's cool to see you reacting to metal, I'm intrigued by the title. What kind of rap do you like? Ever consider making a vid sharing some of the music YOU like? I'd watch that.
Not fake - he wrote this about his experiences with black magic. He later said that period of his life ruined the rest of his life, and he no longer wanted to play this song.
In an interview Mustaine stated this song was originally a hex that he changed the words to on the song so no one would know it. He admits to using it twice successfully. The interview is on UA-cam ironically it led me here. He goes into detail of what happened.

You guys need to do the guitar collaboration of the games of thrones theme with Tom Morello (Rage), Scott Ian (Anthrax), Nuno Bettencourt (Extreme) and Brad Paisley. It’s really awesome. Lex you’d love it since you like guitar. The talent in that one room is over the top.

the frontman of this band was really into black magic for a while and this was a song about black magic and they refused to play it live for a while cuz they claimed every time they played it something bad happend.

This has probably been mentioned already but when Dave was young he actually dabbled in the occult... even after the break with Metallica. Of course, when I say dabbled he actually practiced black witchcraft for quite a few years. It was great watching Lex thrash around to the Devil's chords though. Could you imagine her listening to the 5/16th time signature bridge in Five Magics? lol That would be fun to see!
