its a lot easier to appreciate Megadeth if you're a guitarist. Their music is very technical from an instrumental standpoint, Mustaine is a guitar genius!!
Mustaine has an ability to tell a story and conjure emotions just with a guitar... it’s something I’ve never heard reproduced. I honestly believe if it weren’t for Dave we’d have no Metallica
This is the only rock song I know where none of it's riffs or melodies get repeated elsewhere in the track after they've been played through. No verses and no choruses, every time there's a change in the song it's a totally new section. And somehow it works beautifully.
The last time I saw Megadeth a few years ago this was the opener. Everyone's head just banged in unison during that end section of the song. It was awesome!
I could honestly listen to Lex describe music for hours. She has a very interesting and unique way of interpreting songs and I love to hear her perspectives and takes on little things. She’s super intuitive. Amazing really. And her enthusiasm and spirit is contagious and always fun. Great reaction as always. 👍🏻
Fans of Megadeth and this album, in case you missed it, Brad and Lex reacted to The Conjuring about a week ago. The only thing stopping the Lex train was Brad having to pause.
This song is about Dave Mustaine when he was living with a girl he didn’t want to be with anymore, but only stayed with her because he didn’t have another place to live and was dating a girl he liked on the side. So he was out with her, not his boys. That was his “cover story” You really need to react next to: Mary Jane (for the awesome composition) And Liar (for the aggression and shock value)!
@@KetoFitChef Yeah but I think they have better songs. I'd put liar lower on the list. Musically Liar is good, but the lyrics are kind of... they could be better. This is my opinion. I used to really like it, after 35 years of listening to Megadeth I'm thinking it's not their best song.

Dave Mustaine is unmatched in his original guitar riff, leads and overall style in those days---- the band's style in this album was orbiting thrash jazz because of Gar Samuelson (drummer) R.I.P. 1999 - Brad and Lex, keep on the Megadeth Peace Sells album- it's the most furious metal album of all time, next to Metallica's Puppets album, even though they are 2 uniquely styled albums and should never be compared that way. Cheers from Southern Ontario, Canada... Metal soothes the savage soul...
I've seen Megadeth live at least 10 times in my life and this song never gets old! I'd like to see your reaction to their songs "Hook In Mouth", or "Trust", "Lucretia", "Peace Sells But Who's Buying", or "Holy Wars"
Hey - Brad. I catch a lot of your guy's live streams and I must say... for whatever reason... your live reactions are waaay better than what is portrayed in these UA-cam videos not live. The people who miss out on the streams miss out on your personality man. You are definitely a character, and the duo here feels powerful. Keep up the good work my man.
He *said* he was out with the boys. I don't think he was. :) Anyway, I love that song because it throws away traditional verses/lyrics/song structure and just throws awesome riffs and guitar solos at you in whatever way Megadeth wants.
this song was first then the conjuring followed by peace sells. which was the song that got airplay. the bass intro to peace sells was used everyday on MTV back in the 80's and nobody knew who it was; it is funny to watch when they realize after hearing peace sells that they had heard the intro several times for it was used several times a day everyday....
Sometimes you guys don’t get metal. It’s about feeling it, those transitions, switch ups are meant to keep you on your toes… metal is supposed to be passionate even when it’s a slow song.
Megadeth is probably my favorite metal band from what's considered true classic heavy metal music from this Era. If you're not into technical sophisticated music you just won't get it.
Is this Wake up dead a redone version?..Some guitar solo parts seen slightly off from what i remember..Also the "Wake up dead" lyrics at the end have some high pitched back vocals or something..Unless all this just sounds off because of playing off this video..
Yeah, at 3:07 Lex says it's a remaster, 'cause I remember this song sounding a lot different. The original was slathered in reverb, and this version's got a lot more bottom support, and it's just generally tighter. More focussed, actually. I like it. And all the 'repetition' Lex was commenting on at 4:36 is there for the moshers and the drivers. When the pit gets into a good whirl, you want it to last a bit more, and when it's night on the freeway, a few extra bars of what I'll call the _good part_ helps justify pinning the pedal down another half mile or so. _Peace Sells_ is my favorite Megadeth song ever, but this is a hair's breadth second.
Mustaine is one of the greatest guitar solo composers. Sometimes they just slot in so perfectly I get chills. I always think of super-fast harmonies. Last solo here, and at the beginning of The Conjuring spring to mind.
The beginning of the song makes you think his woman is the crazy one who would kill him, but he's the crazy serial killer one who's got a bunch of exes in the basement. Dave Mustaine is a great story teller.
when the guitars sound like marching armies or animals it is not a solo and is good to pause, those are rhythm sections. when the guitars sound like screeching birds or screams then those are solo's and never pause. hope this clears things up
