That’s a great deal.

dude that's why I watch your videos, because you always fix the problem instead of trying to sell new systems. I've learned alot from you over the years. good job great video

Love it Steve, hate those people that cant understand that they are in someone elses way and think that they are the only ones out on the road.
Great honesty and and integrity Steve, we need more people like you.
The best thing they can do is spead the word that you treated them fairly AND tell everyone about the scammer . If they can cost him money , that's a great thing . Some of these people would take years to pay off 44 K and they are just surviving in their last years . Great Job !
We were quoted over $800 to replace 2 capacitors. Bought 2 online for $16.19 each.
Those crooks are why a lot of people are afraid to call a plumber. A lot of things are like that now. It used to be all about the Benjamins, but now it's all about the guy on the $10,000 bill whoever in the hell that is! You are a good man, Steven!
Love to watch Steve work . Who says talking to yourself isn't good thing . Some of the wisest people I know have taught me inside my head too. You go Steve !
Steve you are the man, hate to see a holes trying to take advantage of the elderly. I sure wish you worked in my hood. Have learned a ton from you over the years, thanks very much for your commitment to recording your work. Dave in RI
Those yellow to red street lights change to fast. Love the road rage. A honest guy like this should charge more.
Love the honesty and looking out for everyday people not trying to sell crap and fix everything you can. RESPECT!
Thank you Steve.
Steve is the most Honest Plumber/AC Engineer on You tube. If he was British he would be a Sir by now.
My In-Law's house had a new boiler installed in Sept.2023. It was required, as the old unit was condemned by the Gas Co. In Feb. 2024, the new boiler stopped working. The installer was not available for a week LOL. Based on your videos, I took a look at it. The pressure was down to 3 psi because of a pinhole leak I found. The Owners manual and Installation manual both state the minimum pressure to operate is 9psi, and optimal is 15 - 20 psi. Turns out the feeder valve (like the one shown in this video) had not been set properly. I adjusted the valve to increase the incoming water pressure to 15psi. The boiler started up and worked great. The original installer will be returning before the heating season to re-do one of the soldered joints where the pinhole leak is.
Honesty. integrity and humility, you're a good man Steve.
Thank you for Helping Old people..... STEVE 👍❤️👍
Them thugs and thieves only Care about money 👎👎
Kudos for keeping a functional system in-service, and not attempting to replace it solely on the basis of its age. Sadly, many HVAC contractors will quote outrageous repair prices (if they even offer to repair) to, effectively, force homeowners into replacing. Thank goodness for the internet, which makes it possible to circumvent the local conspiracy not to sell parts to homeowners. Every area needs someone like Steve (hopefully, more than one). BTW, I surmise that Steve doesn't use a "flippin' tablet." ;-)
Agreed! Thats the difference between calling someone legit and a good person like Steve and rip off scam artist like Mikey Pipes
It is a good thing they called Steve. If that outfit did replace the systems they probably would have installed it very badly, or took off all together once they got the money.
Those Watts fill valves are notorious for seizing. I used to work them free but found that they tend to just seize back up or fail to close again, which causes an overpressure. Now I just replace both the backflow and fill valve and be done with it. While the system was down, I would have changed out the leaking hy-vent because that appears to be the other half of the air issue.
Karma will reward you in the future steve, great job.
That squeeking noise 🤪.
Thanks for being honest with those who dont know. Youre a good man, Steve. God Bless You,
What a good and decent guy you are and a skilled and respectful tradesman 👍🇺🇸
good call. fair and square. i think i might crack that bsmt window a quarter inch for make up air during heating season. Have a nice weekend
havent watched in a while but it looks like steves still doing the "big man's" work from upstairs. im glad there guys out there like steve who are still honest while at the same time showing us how to get things done. the one thing i wish steve would do is call these soulless crooks out trying to take the elderly and handicapped to the cleaners over greed. of course, only after steve proves nothing wrong with the systems.
i had a boiler system from 68 which ran fine till last year so i replaced the boiler on my own. saved about $4-6k doing the work myself after learning stuff watching steves and other plumbers vids.
again and always....thank you steve.
Unfortunately, chances are pretty good that you’ll run into an HVAC crook. They’re more dishonest than used car salesmen.
She needs an electrician and a carpenter too! Great job Steve!
I like the way your cameras are put up leaving your hands free, along with the talk about what your doing makes for a instructional and interesting video. Ive watched most of your content and admire your honesty very much
A good honest person indeed. Good job. You cracked me up with that guy called him a dickhead lol and that comment about the light gonna drive you crazy!
Honest Guy 💯. Great Job Steve!!! Hello Miss.Molly🐕
I love your ethics. Old school honesty and telling it just how it is. I've learned some things from you that I apply to my home repair business. I also know when to leave certain jobs to those in that trade.
Been subscribed & watching you since way back. Next level, thanks man. My favorite plumber.
Yep, that water heater had an '05 year on it. Plenty of good years left! And if it doesn't last, people don't mind waiting a few days without showers or laundry.
The contractor should be shamed publicly
It is likely that the contractor told them they didn't want to work on it, but would sell them a whole new system. These are salesman, not true plumbers.
@@VaporheadATC
Then why did they keep following up?
@@12yearssober because they want to sell them a whole new system(s). This is how alot of these companies operate. There is no money in fixing the stuff for them, just selling new stuff.
That's the way to get life long customers, Thanks Steve.
Best solution for those doors is to replace the solid doors with louvered ones; they cover the eyesore behind them, while still allowing air in to ventilate. 🌬👍
Miss Molly is dancing! You got the red light, right (kind of rolled it) at the end of video. Loved how you waved the driver, courteously to go ahead at end.. I was a caretaker once for my own DAD! Never government paid. Never took advantage. I had his Check Card for grocery's or sales, we'd talk about. I'm 5 min in and dying laughing at that light
Great job Steve......
where i live we dont need heating system like that i am glad to see you look after the older people you are a bleesing good on you
Unfortunately where I live it seems like residential HVAC companies have a license to steel, a few years ago I needed a replacement inducer fan blade for my furnace, went out when temperatures were 10 degrees below zero, the office closed at 5:00 pm I got there at 5:05 pm they charged me an additional $50.00 they called it a door fee because it was after hours. Then last year I got an estimate to have my 35 year old furnace and A/C replaced their estimate was over $16,000.00 I had a friend in a neighboring town in HVAC get me the same system at wholesale it was $3000.00 and I hired a different HVAC company to install it that cost $1500.00 so for $4500.00 i had a new same system installed that the local company quoted over $16,000.00 for.
You're a good man, Steve. We need more like you.
Some plumbers just don't want to take the time working on the system, but rather sell people stuff. They make more money selling, than fixing stuff.
@@cengeb I agree with you. I buy a new toilet every 7 to 10 years, whether I need one or not. I had to get a new furnace a few years back, because my furnaces heat exchanger was Irreplaceable. Plus, I had the furnace for 30+ years. My air conditioner fan motor bearing had worn-out, so I figured it was better to get a new system.
@@cengeb For me it’s about balance, sometimes something is beyond fixing and the coming back to a job 20 times to change a part or fix something is gonna waste more of somebodies money than just replacing it now since they’re gonna have to replace it soon anyhow. Gotta be able to make that call. At the end of the day I try to find the best solution that won’t fuck the customer but also isn’t just gonna be a $200 band aid that just holds on when the thing is gonna fail in less than a year by the looks of it. I’ll try to offer multiple solutions to someone and let them know the pros and cons that come with each one. Nothing wrong with trying to sell new boilers or water heaters but when you tell someone there’s no other way and you gotta do all of them at once that’s just a scam. I’d say let’s replace the very worst looking ones and then take it from there and nurse the others for as long as we can until they fail and then you at least have one set of brand new appliances that you can even bypass the other tenants stuff onto when the old ones break and that buys some time for replacement.
Hi Steve
I’d like to say thanks for proving there are still honest hard working tradesmen around , who take pride in their work and have respect for customers , you’re a dying breed when the good guys retire we’ll all be in the hands of the wolves , take care and regards Davy 🏴🇹🇭

we had a vented door near the furnace but seeing it was always open we took the door off. also its near the front entry so if the door was closed we wouldnt hear them knock, cant hear them as it is.
do you change batteries in smoke detectors also???

All Utica boilers and all cast iron. Probably new in the early 90s and running about 80%. Nope, no problems there. Someone was looking for easy money. Those boilers will still be fine for who knows how long.

i love it brother..love the straight up honesty, been watching your vids for years ,,Hello from SAUGUS MA CUBBY OIL
It was good you told them about having make up air. Louver doors are a great idea.
Are Becket AFGs still commonly in use? I had a “reputable” heating company come by in the winter when I was having a flame out issue. They told me the Beckett was out of date, replaced the relay with an electronic one, didn’t fix the flame out issue, it happened again and read a valve issue, I asked them what that problem could be they drove down tapped the solenoid, told me they don’t have the part and I paid nearly a thousand for all of that.
AFGs are a very common head. Please find another heating company. Oil techs are on the endangered species list now, but keep looking, and you will find one.
Yost & Cambell in Bronx, NY got my mother real bad. I was working that day and they didn't even let her call me before she signed on the dotted line in his tablet. $6,000. Turned out 5 years later the board went bad and they charged me $1,000 for something else. They told me they wanted $500 because they showed up. Scammers! Avoid them in NYC at all costs. I replaced the board myself for $65. It's been running ever since. They take advantage of 85 year olds. They should be ashamed of themselves. I am learning as much as I can to do bro bono jobs to my elderly neighbors just to bust their balls.
You can go to jail for this, I had no clue until recently. Especially when it's involving the elderly
good job steve.
Good man looking out for customers
Hey Steve and Miss Molly! Workin’ again ya’ll. 👍👍
How do they get air in them?
The $44,000 quote is because a lot of the new guys don't know crap. The other day I asked a plumber how high a water column needed to be to get one psi and he didn't know. What morons.

Who did she call? Mikey pipes? Lol
Now that is a scammer. He'll hook up one of those high efficiency pos units and claim they will spit out a hundred dollar bill every month. All you have to do is make sure you call him every year to replace parts on them.
@@aland680 if it’s not a Bosch he won’t show up
😂😂😂😂
@@aland680 I mean I got a new tankless and it's definitely cutting a lot off the gas bills for heat and hot water...but I sure am glad it's the landlord's problem when the thing inevitably breaks! Their insurance made them get rid of all the 50 gallon tanks or get dropped. I even told them the units need to be descaled every year or so to not rot the heat exchanger, and they seem to have no intention of doing that.
All Mikey pipes does is promote expensive Bosch and trying to takeover multiple states and talk about how he loves money
Hoping you educated them on the need to drastically increase their maintenance regime on those units. Stuck valves, feeders, CO2 needs batteries, wrong settings etc etc
