Those Watts fill valves are notorious for seizing. I used to work them free but found that they tend to just seize back up or fail to close again, which causes an overpressure. Now I just replace both the backflow and fill valve and be done with it. While the system was down, I would have changed out the leaking hy-vent because that appears to be the other half of the air issue.
Those crooks are why a lot of people are afraid to call a plumber. A lot of things are like that now. It used to be all about the Benjamins, but now it's all about the guy on the $10,000 bill whoever in the hell that is! You are a good man, Steven!
It is a good thing they called Steve. If that outfit did replace the systems they probably would have installed it very badly, or took off all together once they got the money.
Love to watch Steve work . Who says talking to yourself isn't good thing . Some of the wisest people I know have taught me inside my head too. You go Steve !
Kudos for keeping a functional system in-service, and not attempting to replace it solely on the basis of its age. Sadly, many HVAC contractors will quote outrageous repair prices (if they even offer to repair) to, effectively, force homeowners into replacing. Thank goodness for the internet, which makes it possible to circumvent the local conspiracy not to sell parts to homeowners. Every area needs someone like Steve (hopefully, more than one). BTW, I surmise that Steve doesn't use a "flippin' tablet." ;-)
Steve you are the man, hate to see a holes trying to take advantage of the elderly. I sure wish you worked in my hood. Have learned a ton from you over the years, thanks very much for your commitment to recording your work. Dave in RI

we had a vented door near the furnace but seeing it was always open we took the door off. also its near the front entry so if the door was closed we wouldnt hear them knock, cant hear them as it is.
Best solution for those doors is to replace the solid doors with louvered ones; they cover the eyesore behind them, while still allowing air in to ventilate. 🌬👍
Are Becket AFGs still commonly in use? I had a “reputable” heating company come by in the winter when I was having a flame out issue. They told me the Beckett was out of date, replaced the relay with an electronic one, didn’t fix the flame out issue, it happened again and read a valve issue, I asked them what that problem could be they drove down tapped the solenoid, told me they don’t have the part and I paid nearly a thousand for all of that.
AFGs are a very common head. Please find another heating company. Oil techs are on the endangered species list now, but keep looking, and you will find one.
My In-Law's house had a new boiler installed in Sept.2023. It was required, as the old unit was condemned by the Gas Co. In Feb. 2024, the new boiler stopped working. The installer was not available for a week LOL. Based on your videos, I took a look at it. The pressure was down to 3 psi because of a pinhole leak I found. The Owners manual and Installation manual both state the minimum pressure to operate is 9psi, and optimal is 15 - 20 psi. Turns out the feeder valve (like the one shown in this video) had not been set properly. I adjusted the valve to increase the incoming water pressure to 15psi. The boiler started up and worked great. The original installer will be returning before the heating season to re-do one of the soldered joints where the pinhole leak is.
All Utica boilers and all cast iron. Probably new in the early 90s and running about 80%. Nope, no problems there. Someone was looking for easy money. Those boilers will still be fine for who knows how long.
