The caller provided zero actual details of the supposed beliefs, and Dave missed the chance to inquire about it. There's something severely off when politics get between family. It's fine to have deep beliefs/an ideology, but to even have the caller state what the "line in the sand" was would have been really helpful to know. Then they can frame the advice based on how legit the issue was.
The caller made clear how deep the issue was to her. It's not Dave's part to downplay the issue or nitpick it for something that means anything other than what it means to her. She made clear she doesn't agree with their views and lifestyle and doesn't want her money going to them.

Hi Dave, I’m from India and I’ve been watching your UA-cam videos for sometime now. I am amazed by the wisdom you have over finances, and the love you have for God. Although I have one thought I’d like to share about leaving an inheritance for “undeserving” children. It’s beautiful what you said about children not getting to manage God’s money if they’re not walking with God. But what about us, Dave? While we were still sinners, God loved us. We are beyond undeserving of such love. In fact, it’s by grace that we are given our income. It’s by His mercies we are given an inheritance. We have nothing to boast. Gold and silver belong to God, He left us some of it after He picked us up from murky grounds. He adorns us to this very day. He’s faithful even when we aren’t. This love changed many of us and made us to be more like Him. Even the worst of the sinners have tasted and seen that the Lord is good. Their lives have changed since then. There’s no doubt that the woman’s kids have upset their mother. But do you think it’s okay to tell her never to leave anything behind for them, even if they are 70- old and weak? Without love, could we impress and change such hardened hearts? I personally think, at the end of the day, the woman’s children may not deserve an inheritance, but they could be gifted God’s money- in faith. Faith that God would use it as seed to change their hearts. Let’s say they blow it all up, someday realisation would set in. Maybe their souls would be saved. God’s money would’ve done the deed. The bottom line is, we have nothing if we were not given it all by grace. So let’s also find a way to pay it forward, faithfully, and our reward in heaven would certainly be better than all the money in this very temporary world. God bless you, Dave. Hope I kept my thoughts understandable. Keep the good work going!
Imagine being so caught up in your own politics that you will directly hinder your generational wealth to make a point. I agree with Dave, she is not required to do anything with her money that she doesn't want to. I just morally question her reasoning. I wish they would've let the caller go into more detail.
It’s clear her daughters won’t suffer because they didn’t get an inheritance. And again, it’s up to her to decide how she wants to direct that wealth to make the most impact. Like she said, she’s already paid for college which (depending on your beliefs about education) may or may not count as a “generational investment” that most people don’t have access to. If she feels her children aren’t exhibiting the values she raised them to have, then this isn’t a “political issue”, it’s a moral issue and she’s well within right to decide to contribute her wealth to others more inline with her moral viewpoint.
You’re contradicting yourself. You say that she has the right to do whatever she wants with her money, but then you question what her morality behind her decision is. It doesn’t matter, she has the right, period.
its messed up how both the caller and these guys dont ask the question "what makes the kids socialists?" so much assumptions and stereotypes behind all of their response.

Socialist or capitalist, they are my children or grandchildren and I will always prioritize their wellbeing whether it’s deserved or not because they are family. To me the dream is to do so darn well in life financially that you know that you will pass down so much that your kids, grandchildren, great grandchildren etc etc are set for life. It would make me feel so accomplished if I left the world knowing that even if my great great grandkid is mentally disabled, he or she can still enjoy things that are mostly reserved for those that make well above average household income all because I and each prior generation to advantage of saving and compounding interest to a degree so high it would be practically impossible to fail
Good idea! I should save money for really well-trained and trusted life coaches can make sure my kids do all they reasonably can to support themselves, and then give the money after that/ that they need beyond that. Because my only reason for not wanting to give too much (I'm young. 25, not even married or with kids yet, so I haven't thought about it THAT extensively yet. Should tho), is I don't want them to lose responsibility and work ethic, because that's what makes us happy and avoid depression. But I bet I can do like you plan to, and just have ways to ensure their needs are met both financially and in terms of having a sense of purpose and service in life! ❤

You can tell John bites his tongue around Dave because he knows Dave can't grasp basic concepts of human psychology (and he's his boss). If this call had gone straight to John's show it would have been handled better
Ha ha ha That’s hilarious. So Dave, a multi millionaire that surrounds himself with George Kamel, Ken Coleman, and John Delony doesn’t understand psychology at 61 years old. Anyone that regularly listens to Dave knows that he does. Especially when you watch his Financial Peace University videos. He talks all the time about financial issues being mental, spiritual, and psychological problems not mathematical misunderstanding.
I noticed that too! He doesn’t want to say anything too far off of what Dave is saying + waited to give an answer, only slightly touched on the topics of “labels” but didn’t go into detail. You know why? Goes the man sitting next to him isn’t ready for that conversation! It would have been slightly contradicting answer, so he mainly emphazid what he agreed on. A bit of people pleasing. But we know that John knows human psychology better! Way better. I feel sorry for the lady calling in. She needed a conversation with John.
I’m sorry but if one is making 50k and the other child is doing better than that they don’t sound like they are leaching off her. I’d never disown my kids over their political belief. Are they working? Are they contributing members of society? Are they honest, loving people? That being said mom can keep her money and the kids should build their own wealth if that’s how she feels.
I have money but don't tell my grown kids how to live or think and don't use my cash to influence their lives. Blackmailing ones kids into thinking like yourself will only cause the opposite which is what this lady has.
Dave really got hard stuck on the word socialist... He didn't even ask why the woman thought her kids were socialist... Like do they support the army or post office? Public healthcare? Big business bailouts?
Dave Ramsey "my kids have to be just like me or they get nothing" that is horrible. Imagine having to believe in something that is not true to get an inheritance
"If you stand under a fruit tree you might get a piece of fruit or you might get whacked in the head." ~Me, just now~ Seriously, go make something for yourself and if your parents leave you something when they pass on then you already know how to manage it.
Its actually a good idea if you'd like it to not be contested. While true you can let it be a surprise, but its way harder to contest if you let everyone involved know the terms years before you die.
That's on you for paying their way. My son finished his degree online because he couldn't stand staying at university. He called me to tell me that kids don't get how the world works. I suspect a lot of parents are confronted with this issue. Your children who you've raised and supported reject your values. I understand Dave's reaction but I know of parents who have been devastated by this, and no longer have much of a relationship with their son/daughter. often because their children no longer wish have them as a part of their lives. The vast majority of people in Monique's situation shrug, hope their kids figure it out at some point, and keep them in their will. Some people do view the World different at 40 than they did at 25, but some do not.
But her kids don't seem to be doing ANYTHING WRONG. She said it herself that they're doing well financially, they are drawing boundaries with her because she's probably injurious to their health and growth, and are ok NOT TAKING HER MONEY. that's got her mad, that she can keep her money, they don't care, they'll make their own, and that's being "parasitical" according to Dave, what the hell This is a bad parent /person, she's the problem, not her socialist kids who are trying to SURVIVE her control

I have a socialist friend whose dad gave her 100k. And she gave it all away to a Mickey Mouse charity. Don’t give money to people who hate money (but feel entitled to other people’s money).
It's funny....my kids think I am a lifelong Hippie!!! This is a lifelong thing....parents and children choosing different paths. This is natural. I am not a parasite I just value nature, the natural world, a simple life, animals, art, music, etc.
She said it herself that they're doing well financially, they are drawing boundaries with her because she's probably injurious to their health and growth, and are ok NOT TAKING HER MONEY. that's got her mad, that she can keep her money, they don't care, they'll make their own, and that's being "parasitical" according to Dave, what the hell
This is a bad parent /person, she's the problem, not her socialist kids who are trying to SURVIVE her control
Why should they start viewing the world differently, when it's actually working for them, and they're doing well
@@regaliaretailfashionmerch4314 My point was three years ago as it is today is that people don't always lean into the values they were brought up with, but then come back to them later when aspects of their lives change and/or they see things differently. They rediscover the wisdom of their parent(s). Notice in my comments that I didn't vilify Monique's children or suggest she keep them out of her will. I would never do that.
Leave the money to the Ayn Rand Institute. When the kids complain, have the executor reveal a letter telling them "I would have left some for you too, but the estate tax took it to be properly redistributed. Hopefully the ARI can help make sure other children don't suffer as you are right now".

@@omarlives I think you are confused on the definition of a capitalist.
@@ptwo7100 ok ok, he did say "capitalism can run a mock with lack of ethics n that's not right." Good that we ain't aiming for that. N that's what I was referring to.

I mean Dave is right they aren’t entitled to a single penny.
Don’t control people with your money. If someone is "walking with God" just to get the money are they really walking with God?
That fact that Dave thinks his money is from God stray up means “you poor people aren’t in God’s field of vision”. Disgusting…
Yup. The uncharitable quips from putative "good christians" are quite telling.
Yeh, I got the same vibe. And the whole “socialists are parasites.” I thought this man was chill but clearly he’s just another American nutter.
What he means is that God expects him to manage the money he has been blessed with, well. He does not mean that he got that blessing of wealth because he DESERVED it, nor that people with less money are less deserving of blessings.
Her daughters sound like productive, financially responsible women. Yes, she paid a massive amount of money for their education, but it sounds like they didn’t squander it away. This seems like the caller is just upset her daughters don’t measure up to her standards. She’s not really interested in teaching them anything.
Exactly. I guess she thinks she can take it with her when she dies
Or she sees the direction the socialists want to take this country. The same country that was so good to her and her daughters and burn it all down .. and if her daughters are gonna support the burning down of our country and the things that made her able to care for them the way she did.. then she doesn't want her hard earned money to support that cause ... How does that not make sense to people?
@@americanmade3218 your comment is definitely full of emotionally charged political assumptions as well as a one track mind idea of what people on the other side of the isle want. No one wants to burn down the boat they’re riding in, they want to fill the holes that’s flooding the lower deck.
@@americanmade3218 because they are cultural Marxist’s

I don't think motivating your children to walk with God through monetary inheritance incentives is the best practice.
How Christ-like of Dave to call people whose views he disagrees with parasites.
Christ didn’t support lying and it would be a lie to deny that.

Nothing as hateful as Christian love
If you believe others should be forced to hand you money on a silver platter for literally no reason then you are a parasite. It has nothing to do with what he believes. It’s just the truth. Socialists are parasites. You you take from others putting them down to bring yourself up. That is what a parisite is.
"Book report on Atlas Shrugged." I just lost it. HAHAHA
I honestly don’t get that comment. Can some one explain for me?
@@colleengarcia7752 You have to read Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged. It is a great book about entrepreneurs and thier clash against a society that want to exploit thier productivity.
It's essentially "The Capitalist Manifesto" by Ayn Rand. If interested in politics, philosophy, or economics it's worth reading.
@ballmer I think it is too and I'm going to take back as much of it as I can as well. Social Security is woefully insufficient for it's purpose and therefore it shouldnt exist, therfore it is theft.
Atlas Shrugged and Anne rand. Omg capitalists need better mentors! I talked my mom out of that philosophy. I kindly explained to her that her Reaganomics was not working for her and never has!
The problem IS that she spent half a million on scholing
scholing HAHAHAHA
Yeah, my kids had scholarships and they claim to be communists while still being very materialistic. It doesn't even make any sense.
Don't understand her problem. The money is hers and she can do whatever she wants to do with it. It shouldn't be used as a threat to her kids, or a means to pressure her kids to think like she does.
Amen!
I hope the kids see this video.
If they are actual socialists then they probably won’t.
I used to have a friend's parents telling him they're gonna blow all his inherentance. He'd always replied with, go ahead, don't forget I'm gonna be the one picking your old folks home so don't go spending too much of that money! Lol.
My grandparents used to say that to their kids also. They'd say "Go ahead, you earned it, its not our money"
Dad told me he and mum are going on a SKI trip....... (S)pending (K)id's (I)nheritance. 😆
Pretty strong language calling young adults a parasites.
Some are
Well he called socialists parasites, not young adults. It's accurate and the only people who would be offended by that truth are socialists
@@honestfriend767but these weren't. The mother is and Dave spared her because she's richer than her children, what a pathetic discussion
I'm self made and left leaning. I make decent money and pay all my bills. If my parents used the will as a bludgeon because of my political views, I'd tell them to shove it.
Zoomers listen up, you can work hard, save responsibly, and still believe in left wing ideas. Pay your own bills and know that any values worth having should never be for sale.
Same here, I’m a left leaning, graduated college, paid of student debt and became a self-made capitalists. but I do believe what I believe in and no one can use their will to change that.
I have distant family members who now refuse me to come over just because of who I voted for and label me a “Socialists”. Ridiculous, the things people assume.
Exactly, BRAVO, same with me. Something tells me this so called mother is trying to control her kids because she's the parasite, and literally does not have enough to pass on anyway, that her kids can't accomplish themselves. So she's angry
Hopefully the adult children with a good education are financially secure enough to live their life as they want and not care if an overbearing parent is willing to hold their inheritance over them to make them mind until the parent is dead.
What a sad episode. This why greed and money divides families. We all go through different experiences in life. Therefore, her kids must have experienced certain things that changed their perspectives. What happened to simply loving your kids unconditionally for who they are? Withholding money from kids simply looks like love isn't even a part of the relationship. Sad. Hope these kids say, we don't want or need your money anyway.
Disinheriting people because you don’t like their politics is childish. Unless they plan to use it to print Little Red Books or something - I do not see how their policies are relevant here. So many people think politics is everything now - it’s sad.
Yeah I agree with this and your other comment.
It’s her money and socialists are evil
Bullshit … my kids getting nothing … I spending it on myself 😂😂😊
Me: Dave, my children are socialists.
Dave: Give your money to Hillsdale.
This is a very interesting take on the teachings of Jesus. Do Americans have their own version of the Bible?
No, but irresponsibly is not a fruit of the spirit
Yes, the American version of the Bible edits out the part in the story of the Rich Young Ruler (Mark 10:17ff) when he refuses to sell all he has and give it to the poor (that part is in the American version) and then Jesus tells His disciples to go and forcibly take all that he has and give it to the poor (that part isn't in the American version).
No, but most xtians don't know what's in it.
She sounds very concern about her money, the children are Long gone
Quot them and put it in the will. If money not important to them then force them to donate to charity. Im a lefty and im saying this
The money you earn is your money and nobody else is entitled to it. However, to write your children out of your will because their beliefs do not align with yours (religious or political) is ice cold.
This person gets it
But socialists don’t believe in inheritances so giving them money wouldn’t align with their beliefs
@@SlippinJimmy007 not true. socialists still believe in personal property. they just don't believe in a system where massive exploitation unfairly benefits some who end up with massive capital which can be passed onto descendants.
