@@handlethehurdle yeah I realized that I probably just wooshed myself xD but hey, my friends who started playing waaay before me still can't learn it so..
Hum... being lead guitar in a Metallica Tribute Bande in Brazil, for me the hardest KH solos are on "...And Justice For All" and "Black Album" records. Take a listen to "The Shortest Straw" (siiiick whammy bar work), "Dyers Eve" and "Don't Thread on Me" solos and tell me what you think. Nice work on "Creeping Death", by the way :)
@@leob4403 Its a much more basic solo and it was one of the first solos I could practice with on a daily! But its a pretty easy solo, most of it is just fast but its not that hard 😁 Just keep playing
I think the solos in The Shortest Straw, One, The Thing That Should Not Be, Battery, Fade to Black, and Harvester of Sorrow are pretty tough to master too. But yeah, Kirk solos like a mad man in the Creeping Death solo, for sure. I've always played his solos by ear too, except the leads/solos and the main solo in One, which was the first Full solo I learned when I was 11. I learned that one by tab in Guitar World Magazine. I had already gotten down a few parts of it by ear, but got the full solo downpat after I studied the tablature. Kirk has Always made badass solos, and they seem so effortless for him when you see them play live 🤦🏻♂️ I'll go back through some old Met songs and see what solos I remember being really hard to get down. Years ago, in my playing prime, I knew how to play every single Metallica song ever released up to S&M, as well as the solos and all lead parts. I seem to remember there being a tough solo or two on the Black Album, but I could be mistaken. Or they could've just seemed difficult for me at the time, for whatever reason 🤷🏻♂️ I did always like playing For Whom the Bell Tolls, all the leads and especially the solo 👍🏻🤘🏻 And the Sandman and Roam leads and solos. Sorry, I'll stop rattling off songs I like lolol 😂 Hard to contain myself when it comes to Metallica and Kirk 🤦🏻♂️ They were (He was) the main reason I started playing guitar back in late 1994. Kirk Hammett, Jeff Hanneman, Dino Cazarez, Satch, Steve Vai, Dimebag, etc. Good video 👍🏻🤘🏻
Well the solo of the thing that should not be is not heard to me it’s one of the easiest solos it’s just got some whammy bar stuff and some small licks that’s it. For me the easiest Metallica solos are For whom the bell tolls And The thing that should not be
La Leche Del Arte I’m very bad at soloing :( i do not control techniques but I try by learning sweep for the first time with leper. The only solo I can are fade to black (all) and nothing else. And of course I’m learning leper
The one thing about Hammett i love is that his solos are sort of like really fast tongue twisters. You expect it to hit a certain note, but he goes off in another way just to kind of change it up, it is really difficult to learn by ear and then train your fingers to go the note he played and not the note your ear thinks should be played.
Dyer's Eve solo isn't that good, imo. It's mostly wah-wah, jibberish, noisy, and discordant. I'm a huge Metallica fan. Just because a song is fast doesn't mean the guitar solo is good.
@ThrashMetal I CAN play most of Metallica's songs and solos. But even IF I couldn't do any better, what does that have to do with anything? If YOU knew anything about playing the guitar and could actually play the songs yourself, you wouldn't say such things.
Seriously. As commendable as it is for ear training. If youre really just trying to learn the solo, you could save allll this time and just look at the tabs. Will get you a lot closer than playing by ear and if your that good by ear, you can make any minor adjustments needed. Especially if youre not as good as him and just learning your scales and way around the guitar. Good ear training exercise though, but he was def off. Id rather just peek at the tabs
@@Vampire102 If you learn scales then you will understand how the music was written, therefore, it is easier to know where the soloist is heading. Don't get me wrong, makes a really difficult thing just slightly easier
When I first heard Creeping Death, I realized the respect I needed for Kirk. Also I think the reason this solo is harder than Dyer's Eve is because it's almost as fast but also like 20 seconds longer

Shortest Straw is obviously a collage of technique specific sections, each part sounds like an exercise all stuck together. The hardest part is nailing the whammy scoop at the beginning.

Dyers Eve and The Thing That Should Not Be. The first one is the fastest Kirk ever played and the second one is one hell of a mess that is kinda good actually.
gamesandguitars003 Blackened is definitely tougher in some sections for me than Dyers Eve due to the weird timings. Hardest overall solo is Shortest Straw's though (in my opinion).
troy baker Don't take my word for it but they don't play alot of solos because it slows the song down (don't really get the point of that but guess it could hurt live shows...)

@@handlethehurdle yeah I realized that I probably just wooshed myself xD but hey, my friends who started playing waaay before me still can't learn it so..
One
Yeah that’s sooo difficult! You know I don’t think he’d be able to do it it’s pretty tough 😂
And that’s why I’m the band’s bass player .. but we don’t play any Red Hot Chili Peppers tune.... or primus
I'm bass player to bro. U guys should learn Jerry was a rececar driver. Shit is awesome to play. Any RHCP song is pretty easy to bro
I'm guessing you don't play Orion or Anesthesia either.
Novaseer nothing better than letting the fingers run Wilde with them 2!
Currently learning Fade to Black's solos. So much fun learning these and feels good to ALMOST get it down
Hum... being lead guitar in a Metallica Tribute Bande in Brazil, for me the hardest KH solos are on "...And Justice For All" and "Black Album" records. Take a listen to "The Shortest Straw" (siiiick whammy bar work), "Dyers Eve" and "Don't Thread on Me" solos and tell me what you think. Nice work on "Creeping Death", by the way :)
bandavet Don’t Tread on me is far from the hardest solo on The Black Album, Wherever I May Roam and Through The Never are much harder.
Blackened has an extremely difficult solo
No its very easy man
That’s actually a really easy solo 😂
Well actually is easy 😅
@@leob4403 Its a much more basic solo and it was one of the first solos I could practice with on a daily! But its a pretty easy solo, most of it is just fast but its not that hard 😁 Just keep playing
As far as Metallica's solos go that would definitely one of the more difficult, the people above are just posturing.
The hardest metallica solo is the shortest straw .
I agree
Dyers Eve
Shortest Straw is also the funnest Metallica riff to play :D
Dyers Eve X2
yes indeed
Oh wow, can't believe he's just doing this from ear. I didn't think that was a thing people could do that quickly
The hardest Metallica solo it's for whom the Bells tolls
Ur funny
Nah man. St Anger is the hardest
Olo
Ngl man I find it infuriating to play , I'm horrible at playing stuff like that
Nothing else matters
More videos like this please. This is the most I've enjoyed one of your videos
Rt
No way, Everybody knows the hardest Metallica solo is "Dyers Eve". Period.
7:48 LMAO. I do that kinda thing all the time when I'm learning solos haha.
For me the easiest Metallica solos are
For whom the bell tolls
And
The thing that should not be
9:26 when coke kicks in
Dyers Eve is definitely the hardest Metallica solo ever
Metallica Fanpage clearly not. Shortest straw
Holy Wars is the hardest Metallica solo
La Leche Del Arte Leper Messiah is easy in front of shortest straw. I’m actually learning leper solo
YEP!! it is
La Leche Del Arte I’m very bad at soloing :( i do not control techniques but I try by learning sweep for the first time with leper.
9:26 *Rings of Saturn mode activated*
ROS are fucking garbage
Flag Ov Hate you’re garbage
Flag Ov Hate why tho
Every solo except for James’s solos because I’m a rhythm guitarist
Suicide And Redemption solo is James' solo.
Metal Fan same fam😂😂
Metal Fan You need to combine rythm and lead, without lead techniques every rythm guitarist suck it dry
@@emreozturk7870 that's why James Hetfield is god
@@dylandawson585 dude. Ever heard of Suicide and Redemption?
There’s really no doubt, Dyer’s Eve is significantly harder than Creeping Death’s solo
Dyer's Eve solo isn't that good, imo. It's mostly wah-wah, jibberish, noisy, and discordant. I'm a huge Metallica fan. Just because a song is fast doesn't mean the guitar solo is good.
@ThrashMetal dude that solo is cake compared to creeping death. learn something about guitar other than being a beginner
adamaj I love that solo
@@adamaj74 didn't say it was better just said it was harder
@ThrashMetal I CAN play most of Metallica's songs and solos. But even IF I couldn't do any better, what does that have to do with anything? If YOU knew anything about playing the guitar and could actually play the songs yourself, you wouldn't say such things.
*Metallica Tabs exist
Tyler : "I'm gonna figure it out by ear"
@@TheAlaskansandman so does learning scales help with ear training or something?
@@Vampire102 If you learn scales then you will understand how the music was written, therefore, it is easier to know where the soloist is heading.
Don't get me wrong, makes a really difficult thing just slightly easier
When I first heard Creeping Death, I realized the respect I needed for Kirk. Also I think the reason this solo is harder than Dyer's Eve is because it's almost as fast but also like 20 seconds longer
Learning the hardest nickelback solo the hard part is wanting to play it
same thing goes for the foo fighters.that crap IS NOT MUSIC.
check out "side of a bullet", a nickelback song with the solo being a record from the late dimebag darrell.
(Eyes Rolling) the hate train for Nickelback is still going around. It’s really getting old
@@leob4403 im not comparing foo fighters to nickleback,id rather listen to nicklback than the foo fighters,as a a matter of fact i refuse to listen to the foo fighters because they fucking suck.if they come on the radio i either change the station or just turn off the fucking radio.
Some of And Justice. Maybe shortest straw or dyers eve
9:26 every dragonforce riff ever

Damage Inc sounds incredibly difficult.
I learned it yesterday :)
9:27 sick shreds bruh
Not Mozart dragonforce
My toughts exactly :)
Archspire has some competition
Rings of Saturn shit
sounds like galaga
Not sure if it’s the hardest but the one Kirk solo that gets me right in the heart is “Struggle within”
I think that the hardest metallica solo is shortest straw....
No doubt, it's just so random and hard to even figure out. And it's probably Kirk's fastest playing, along with maybe Dyers Eve.
Walamonga 1313 Yeah
Yeah I was going to say that one too. Definitely my favorite and feels the most varied and "dynamic" I suppose.
Shortest Straw is obviously a collage of technique specific sections, each part sounds like an exercise all stuck together. The hardest part is nailing the whammy scoop at the beginning.
Nah it’s creeping death
i'm almost two years late, but uh, Cliff Burton's solo in Orion or Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth). (Mostly because i'm a beginner bassist and I look up to Cliff like no one's business)
ride the lightning and the outro of fade to black are my favourites
For Whom The Bell Tolls solo is way more difficult ;)
It is
And also the longest
@@mikeoxmaul1386 Hi Dave! Wheres Kirk Ketchup?
No all the solos from St Anger are so hard that you can’t even hear them.
Man, that repetitive hook (that's what I call it so ease off....) he does in tolls still to this day tries to trip me up bit past half way every time. No matter how many times......
Great video man. Cheers from Brazil

Marc, grande mestre!!!! você é foda!
Kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
De onde tua mãe te botou no mundo
@Alan Moreira tmj man
Ride the lightning sounds tough to me
Matei Popescu fuckin love that solo. By far the 1st section is probally his most melodic
Ride the Lightning has like a 90min solo(being a bit dramatic with the length lol)
It's not hard. I learned it years ago as a teenager, and I don't consider myself anything special of a guitar player, especially by today's standards. You should give it a go, you might be surprised.
@@ShredHeadJHJ i dont even have an electric guitar. i only have an acoustic but im getting my hands on a kickass electric guitar and amp in a month or so
ride the lightning is all pulloffs. super easy. Shredding is the hardest part of most solos and rtl has no shredding in it
It's quiet inspiring to see such effort and dedication,;which is required to be a good guitarist or any other instrument player . Don't give up...(this msg is for me and others struggling to improve)
While dyers eve may be harder, creeping deaths solo is quite epic as well
You should make a video learning the “Afterlife” solo from A7X or “A gunshot to the head of trepidation” solos by Trivium
I second both of these!
Yes for both, specially Afterlife!
oh man that trivium song is a classic! haha
Oh god noo !! I love that solo so much..gunshot to the head of trepidation . It is very melodic ahhh
In my opinion the Hardest Metallica Solo is Ride the Lightning.
Cesare Francesco Riggi Same. It's so damn long too lol
Pussy difficult comparing to shortest straw
Its beautiful and meaningful. Kirk played amazing arpeggios
+James Hammett RTL solo is the most underrated solo. Sounds ez. It's not.
Kill 'Em All did I underrated the solo ? No I said the solo is easy comparing to shortest straw. I actually prefer the RTL solo but you didn’t learn to read
These kinda videos are awesome! Please do more \m/
I've been trying to cover Metallica songs for like 20 years, and the longer I try, the more I realize I'll NEVER sound as good as they do! It's just a basic principal of the universe: People are different, and have different talents and abilities. I just wish I had spent all that time learning to write my OWN music, instead of beating my head against a wall for 20 years!
I think “Dyers Eve” is harder
Every song in St. Anger
Some Kind Of Monster has a solo in it. It's crappy, but it counts. So fuck you
Yeah you'd have to listen to St. Anger to figure it out
The pedal your using isn't pronounced Java- lina it's Havalina. The Js are Hs in spaninsh. -coming from a white guy in south Texas.
as an argentinian i have to say no letter in english sounds like a spanish J, i mean its like an H but with much more fucking grit. Also, just as a tip, we dont pronounce Hs, unless theres an S before, obviously.
Careful. Brandon Mayhew hunts javelinas with a crossbow 😂
Music is Win is from 'Murica. In 'Murica, we call it as we see it, and a "J" sounds like a Jay in 'Murica.

I litteraly love your channel man!! I’m French by the way and I’m in the process of learning how to play guitar at 43 years old. Would be great to receive a small reply to my comment…..keep up to upload some bangers for us 🙏
Dyers Eve and The Thing That Should Not Be.
More of these kinds of videos please!!
blackened has got to be one of the hardest metallica solos IMO
blackened is easy but seems to be hard before you try to learn it
Kirk doesn’t even play that fully anymore
Blackened has one of the hardest metallica riff
troy baker Don't take my word for it but they don't play alot of solos because it slows the song down (don't really get the point of that but guess it could hurt live shows...)
That was amazing! I love that solo; the simple melody toward the end is so catchy which Kirk was known for back then, and you did it justice. It was really cool seeing it broken down like that. Thanks.
