Guitar Stuff Not really. If the video was about the entire song, the overall songwriting, another instrument, the vocals, etc then you’d have a point. But it is specifically about the guitar riff and nothing more. I personally love the song, it’s always been one of my favourite Nirvana tracks and it’s very emotive. Cobain’s voice is stellar in the choruses. But as a guitar player I “learned” this song once, laughed and never played it again. It is very much a simple and bad guitar riff. That’s not stupid. Try not to sound like a butt hurt fan and see the reality of it. Beautiful song, brutal guitar riff.

Hey Tyler, Kurt played 'Something In The Way' in two different variations, the first was his Unplugged performance (arguably my favorite) which consists of Drop C tuning and him playing on the 4th frets of the C and G (E/A strings). He does this almost as a double stop but then picks each note individually to the rhythm. Also he throws in a few power chords as well, but I believe they differ from the method he used when playing the more "grungy" version.

I think something in the way is underrated by a lot of guitarists, not because its some amazing technological riff somehow (because its obviously not) but because it perfectly captures the feel of what they were aiming for, even if you don't like the riff (I've personally always loved it) you can't deny that it's one of the most melancholy riffs ever wrote that perfectly captures depression and pain.
    Just my opinion.

Almost like how once you learn letters and words as a kid, you can just start reading familiar words without effort, except in this case it’s with your ears instead of your eyes (I hope that makes sense). Keep playing and you’ll be able to do this as well, if you haven’t gotten to that point already. :)

John Jerge I’m not sure that’s right. I remember Butch Vig saying they did it in a few takes in the studio. The song was definitely written from a very dark place though. As if he was a complete “street person” and broken.

Wow I'm glad to see the Peavey amp in the floor. I love Peavey and have played an original 5150 for years. Then I discovered Budda which I think is a boutique style amp made by the Peavey. I have the 36 watt with kt66 tubes in it and I would gig anywhere with it. The only thing is they are super loud. Its just something about kt66 tubes that I like. I had an 18 watt and an 80 watt Budda amp and the 18 watt had EL84 or EL34 and the 80 watt had 6L6. The one I fell in love with the 30 watt with the KT66 tubes. Must be the midrange punch . Idk. They all sound great they are just very loud.

I’m in absolute love with the Paul reed smith guitars. That sparrow inlay for the fret markers just takes me away. I literally go to guitar center online and just admire all the PRS guitars because I know I can’t afford one. I have one particular one I’m obsessed with and that’s the PRS se 245 standard tobacco sunburst!
