Trd Off Road honestly looks like the cheapest trim of these based solely on appearance. That Platinum looks fantastic though! Thanks for the coverage as always Jon!
If I had to choose between a new tacoma trd pro and a 4runner trd pro I am definitely picking the 4runner because it doesn't have those stupid back seats.
I am so happy the TRD off road models are not coming with the hybrid system!! I drove the prado in Kuwait (none hybrids) but for me the no roll down rear window is a deal breaker: I got pups. 😊
I agree the Sport looks good with its TRD Pro appearance. Also, the 5th Gen Sport has available 4-wheel drive, so I think the 6th Gen Sport will maintain that option.
That TRD OR looked pretty cheap on the inside, especially with the manual seats. But I'm expecting the starting price will still be $45,000, going way past $50k with premium package and hybrid powertrain.
Looks like you gotta go to upper level trims just to get the nice led DRLs. Hope that’s not the case. I love my 1958 LC so far. Def would have gotten the 4runner if it had come out first because it will probably be a better value but I have no regrets with LC. I am glad I got the iforce max because it is a torque monster.
I’m in agreement. Not a fan of the lettering placement for the TRD Off Road. But that may be because we are so used to the 5th Gen. Would also have liked to see an Off Road Premium.
@TRDJon I think will look good too. I'm hoping a dark blue will be available that's my color but white does look good. A matte paint finish would look amazing on this new body style too.
Man, they even gave the mid-grade trims (if that's what we want to call them now) the same headlights as the Tacoma. At least the higher trims have different looking lights than the higher trim Tacomas, but the mid-grade trims have, what appears to be, the same exact headlights.
Interesting that the Limited and Platinum are badged on the door and the TRD's on the pillar. There does look to be a little more room in the 6th's gen third row configuration then the 5th gens which is good news for the kids and grandkids.
The Platinum trim looks really good. My guess is it will be priced similarly to the Trailhunter and the Pro, just slightly cheaper ($2K-3K) than the $68K LC250 mid-trim that has the Premium Package. This assumes that the Platinum will have all the offroad goodies such as rear locker, MTS, Crawl Control, and swaybar disconnect; but if it only has full-time 4wd with a center lock like the Limited, Toyota really shouldn't price the Platinum above $62K IMO.
The tumble forward, rather than fold flat 2nd row seats is a big miss. I will probably go for either a late model 2nd generation Sequoia or the new Armada Pro-4X, which offer them.
I currently own a 2013 Limited, no chrome door handles on the 2025? The chrome details is what I liked about the Limited and it set it apart from the other trim levels, at least from this woman’s standpoint.
Gotta say that Ice Cap Pro looks phenomenal. I'm a big fan of Pearl White on just about any car...with lots of black/tint. I'd buy one if they weren't so expensive, but guessing all of these are going to be insanely priced given the outgoing 2024 are still 45k+
Love it, thank you! Huge difference since its built in Japan but i wonder just how much more reliable that will be compared to the tacoma thats built in Mexico. Im sure the prices will be insane. I plan on getting the last of the 5th gen 2024 later in the next few months and let this new 4runner play out for a couple of years to see the reviews after its been on the road for awhile.
I like the look and I like the direction of the engines. IF you have the financial means to afford this 6th gen in hybrid or not, would you still upgrade this route over 5th gen from a 3rd gen?
I'm not feeling it. But, i think it'll grow on me eventually like with the Tacoma Gen 4. I first thought Gen 4 Tacoma was overcompensating with the masculine appearance but now i prefer it over 3rd.
I'm really debating between the 6th gen 4Runner or r be Land Cruiser. Originally i thought about the new Tacoma, but, i already have a 2020 Tundra, and i had a 2012 5th gen 4Runner and i loved it. What would be better for a daily, is the question, 4runner? Land Cruiser? Tacoma?
As much as I really love the look of the 6 gen and I will be in the market for a 4Runner within the next year, I may stick with the 5th gen just because we know the reliability of those engines
The platinum and sport looks the best by far, the fender flares are not it on this vehicle. They look very AutoZone 3M...even on the high trims. Very curious what the SR5 will look like. The cargo area without hybrid looks pretty spacious, still really bummed they couldn't make the seats fold flat. I feel like they will in a refresh, no reason the bottom cushion doesn't come up and seat back folds flat like nearly every other SUV ever made Appreciate the coverage as always! Toyota is definitely in no hurry with this vehicle...i went to an event just to see the trailhunter and it was locked much to everyones disappointment
I want to see how this new engine holds up. I have a 2021 SR5 Premium. I plan on keeping it for as long as possible. The new ones look amazing, but I’m concerned about that turbo charged 4 cylinder.
Toyota needs to hurry up and get the new 4Runners out to dealerships. They're more than two years behind on this redesign, and it's the first time Toyota has ever missed a deadline. They also need to hurry up and lift the embargo on driving impressions and fork over the stats on 0-60 times, fuel economy, cabin noise levels, etc., etc.
Jon, are the lithium batteries in the same location as on the LC which will have a cargo weight limit to go with it I am gonna assume Yes for the TRD Pro.
Man def getting one of these over another highlander. 20+ mpg 🙏 It's too bad they couldnt just do away with the third row and bring the price down some.
any chance you can ask around and find out if those third row models will have a dedicated a/c vent for the third row either in the ceiling or side panel?
Not worth it. Same terrible powertrain with a turbo. It’ll be $50m minimum for a 4cyl. Maybe since it’s built in Japan it’ll be better. The Land Cruiser has been ok so far so we’ll see
Love the off road. I wonder what a premium with soft tech and moonroof will look like in underground?? Now… that Platinum. Wow!! ❤.. just going to be extremely expensive. Probably in the ballpark of a TRD sequoia..
I think they did well with this gen. Athletically, it's more "4Runner" to me, a maverick, stout and versatile off-roader, and hey if you wanna have a kegger with your 4 legged friend and some buds it's the vehicle for you. I saw too many 5th gens piloted by soccer Karens.
I just wish Toyota had their unveils more condensed and ready to go. If you’re not ready, don’t drop the truck. Infiniti dropped the new QX-80 a few weeks ago and you already see them around town. Work out the kinks before you get release them instead if this silly slow drip release that benefits nobody.
YES!!! It's just not special when you have four or five vehicles that have the same basic dash and interior layout. I think the 5th gen interior is kind of weird in certain ways, but at least it's unique.
Just out of curiosity, why does there have to be so many models to begin with? SR5/TRD-OR/LIMITED/TRD-PRO and then whatever options in the trim. Whats with that?
I love the look!. Hopefully they didn't cut corners like in the new tacoma. By the time it arrives next year, the starting price for an SR5 will be $59,995 😢
Hmmm TRD Pro will probably be $65k at least with the new platinum at $70k. Off Road Premium maybe start in the 50's with SR5 in the high 40's. Then tack on the "short supply" ADM and other crap from dealers for an additional $5k-$10k
Well??? Thoughts? Check Out Our 6G 4Runner Forum: 6thgen4runner.com

Trd Off Road honestly looks like the cheapest trim of these based solely on appearance. That Platinum looks fantastic though! Thanks for the coverage as always Jon!
It would be the lowest technically outta these. You are correct. Thanks for watching and commenting!!!!
Don’t forget there is also the TRD Off-road Premium.
It’s the wheels imo they almost look like cheap hub caps
@@alexsmbahopefully it had better wheels
Rear seat is too small...
Honestly I think the 5th gen still looks amazing. Not fully sold on 6th gen.
Platinum looks so good. Put on some beefy wheels and the trd pro grill with a matte ppf and tint. Gonna look badass
That would be rad!
If I had to choose between a new tacoma trd pro and a 4runner trd pro I am definitely picking the 4runner because it doesn't have those stupid back seats.
I was all in on the TRD Pro but I have to say that I’m now leaning toward the Platinum trim.
I know right?
I agree
Platinum looks AMAZING! Based off these photos, that would be my 4Runner pic. And honestly the space behind the 3rd row isn’t bad imo.
Yea for a mid sized vehicle not bad at all
I am so happy the TRD off road models are not coming with the hybrid system!! I drove the prado in Kuwait (none hybrids) but for me the no roll down rear window is a deal breaker: I got pups. 😊
Good choice!
Agreed! If I can get one I'll be aiming for the TRD ORP. We'll see how pricing goes and whether I want to take a chance on potential first-year bugs.
Really impressed, but still holding onto my 2015 4Runner, gonna wait until they fix all the recalls and get it perfected in the next decade.
Try to score a 2024 TRD PRO
The sport looks good with those wheels & hood scoop. A good option for someone who doesn't need 4wheel drive.
For sure!
I agree the Sport looks good with its TRD Pro appearance. Also, the 5th Gen Sport has available 4-wheel drive, so I think the 6th Gen Sport will maintain that option.
Yep really liking that pearl and would definitely tint the windows out!
Maybe in a few years for me but prolly will still be on the fence by then from owning a 2024 Trd Pro 4 runner !
Get ready for sever sticker shock. These prices are gonna be insane I bet
Hopefully not. They had 15 years of milking the 5th Gen Cash Cow.
That TRD OR looked pretty cheap on the inside, especially with the manual seats. But I'm expecting the starting price will still be $45,000, going way past $50k with premium package and hybrid powertrain.

@@TRDJon beautiful
I don’t think you understand what bombed means. 🤣😂
Couldn’t agree more .. that thing is like a smaller version of the sequoia trd pro .. perfect 👍🏼

All you gotta do is look to the interior dimensions of the 3 row GX550 to get a very good idea of what the 4Runner will be.
True with less roof height

Congrats!!!!
I’m in agreement. Not a fan of the lettering placement for the TRD Off Road. But that may be because we are so used to the 5th Gen. Would also have liked to see an Off Road Premium.
Same. Hopefully soon!!!
I'd probably just de-badge it. My OG Trail doesn't have any badging there, I think it looks cleaner like that.
I am really anxious to see the on road and off road testing videos. I’ve seen all the prototype videos I can take 😂
That pro with white and black looks hot! I can't wait to see all the color options.
I wanna see an all black!
@TRDJon I think will look good too. I'm hoping a dark blue will be available that's my color but white does look good. A matte paint finish would look amazing on this new body style too.
Yo quiero ver la nueva 4runner en color blue crush Metallic
5th generation with a SC, leather aftermarket seats and some trd pro suspension, all day every day
Now that’s a build!
Man, I’m trying really hard to like the 6th gen… I really am.
Wait for modifications.
I'm gonna hold on to my Gen 5 and get a used GX 550 later.......... this Gen 6 is........... very mid..........
GEN 5 4runner is officially a collectors item.
Man, they even gave the mid-grade trims (if that's what we want to call them now) the same headlights as the Tacoma. At least the higher trims have different looking lights than the higher trim Tacomas, but the mid-grade trims have, what appears to be, the same exact headlights.
I think if you look closer you can see a DRL on the higher grades
Limited looks the best, design is clean without those goofy black fender flares.
I wish the seats still folded flat. It looks like there's a big dip between the back and where the folded over rear seats are behind the front seats.
Amazing video, platinum is definitely my favorite!!
