- Join us as we take our Jeep Grand Cherokee (WK2) on an Off Road hill climb test! In this video we try out the different select terrain modes on a steep, loose rock hill climb to see if it really makes a difference what mode you are in. You may find yourselves surprised by the results!

... just an all around amazingly capable machine!
Best camera crew on UA-cam! The close wheel and drone shots are so good
Great vid always enjoy your guy’s content! I really enjoyed hearing the natural audio from what was being recorded
Thanks for the feedback!
Rock mode rocks! And so do Kaleb's drone shots. Terrific videography. BTW, Happy Father's Day. I was off-roading in a remote area in Halkidiki, N.Greece, today when a truly torrential rain and storm hit us! JGC Overland behaved flawlessly; especially the Hill Descent mode.
Great video. I just bought a WK2 so this was very instructional for me. Thanks !
Happy to help!
I appreciate the PSI notes. Thank you!
Sure thing!
Nice tuning 👍❤😍
Sand/mud is always my go to!
Good video 👍🏻
Thanks for that. Very helpful.
Absolutely!
Amazing video shots!
Thank you!
So I have not been able to do this yet with my 2020 TH living in tampa fl. So I’m incredibly grateful for these videos because they show me the capability of my truck that I’ve not experienced yet! I am checking every week to see the fall smoky mountains trip to be posted as well.
We will probably have it up in a month or so. 😁
Bro why you didn’t wait for 2022 gc th short base?)
@@volodymyrprosov6134 I’m excited to see what the new trailhawk will look like!
@@ProdigalOverland I keep saying it, in a few years when I trade in my 17 I’ll be on the hunt for a low mileage 2021… that new body style is fugly!
@@camaroboi13 yeah i like front view, but side and rear look is ugly :( WK2 is better on this, but interior is pretty cool! Imagine if they add Macintosh sound system in trailhawk!!
Mud mode and sand mode lock the rear ELSD in either 4-low or the 4 "high mode
Exceptional drone footage on this one!!! Great work!!
Yep. I was a proud dad on this one. All shot by my oldest son. I thought he did a great job. 👍🏻
@@ProdigalOverland Happy Father's Day to a proud dad!!
And also had the roads sounds, but not the drone sound. Great!
Thank you!
That was some editing on my part.
Trans temp is GREAT
I used my wk2 in heavy snow and did not change modes mine came with the Goodyear Kevlar tires which I already had a screw in.
What struck me is that Auto mode seemed to be the least consistent, like it was constantly testing to see what it should do - which you would expect as it doesn't know if you're still on a slippery surface still unless it releases the LSD clutch to "see" ... but that produced a lot of time where it was not operating optimally.
To my eye, most of the other modes whether they were optimal or not, seemed to at least drive more consistently with less "mode-hunting".
Wow! I am very impressed with the performance of this vehicle.
I have 2 older Jeeps ('85 and 68' models) but it looks like they might be out gunned by modern technology!
Thanks for watching!
I would love Jeep to put in a selective rebound setting in the suspension and a little higher clearance level in future models. I love my TH and I love your videos. Unstoppable!
Hey Man I just wanted to let you know that for some reason You Tube won't let me respond to some of your recent comments. I'm not sure why. But I appreciate the support!
@@ProdigalOverland No worries Brad. Thanks for letting me know. Responses or not brother, I'll be watching as long as you're filming!
@@no_handle_required Sounds Good! Thanks!
I enjoy my overland wk2. Few months ago went with few friends to Victorian High Country (real rough traks) and it went where a listen 200 Landcruiser on 35s went but I needed a winch few times because IFS. What is the radio unit, wouldn't mind this on mine?
Brad may you show your sound system settings like bass, mid and high? Do you use surround sound or no? Thank you!
Hi, did you took the car “up” during those climbs
Or you stayed in normal height?
Learning a lot from your videos
Many tnx 🙏
when you said "bug crawling on my pants" , for a second i thought it's mode as well 😂 and why didn't you test it?!
I figured before you started the first run, that they would all get up the hill. I noticed the greatest differences in temps would be when I wasn’t in 4 wheel low on long climbs. Hope all is well. Where was Sammie in this one?
He was home with his mom! We are well!
I haven't heard you say and I just want to know for my knowledge, do the modes only work in 4 low? Do you have to select it or does it do it for you if you put it in a mode other than auto? Thanks for always sharing the knowledge
I think rock mode may be the only one you need to be in 4 low for. The others work for sure in awd mode. But sand and snow are the ones I most use without shifting into 4 low
Hey Brad, just wondering but how is your transmission? I have a brand new 2021 JGC, and transmission is pretty smooth UNTIL bumper to bumper traffic when I let off the gas and you can feel it down shift through each gear. Doesn't downshift TOO hard but you can still feel it. Wondering if maybe it's how the JGC transmissions are
I took mine off eco mode. Felt it was shift too much.
@@kayakgoalie did that help? In bumper to bumper traffic, sport mode would be too jumpy for me I think. I looked it up on forums and it’s been a problem on previous models too. Seems like a TSB update usually helps at the dealership but I haven’t seen anything for 2019’s and up.
Did you try the other modes with out touching suspension height and allowing it to stay normal or level 1. Makes a massive difference i think
Honestly I haven't notices any difference in how the select terrain functions as it relates to the quadralift system.
@@ProdigalOverland i off road in a modded coil diesel in Australia and times I've been out with the air suspension one aswell. If the ELSD wasn't working in the air suspension one mine would be far more comfortable and capable. The air model was the same in OR1 and even standard height. Thats both with 31-32"
Both had some suspension mods but nothing crazy.
Sway bar disconnected was the best thing ended up doing
Hoo boy cant stop yawning
Is that Uconnect head unit or aftermarket? As my Wife's wk2 hasn't got the gauge features
It's the Uconnect, under off road pages
@@ProdigalOverland will have a look.....but I think it might be an American thing , We have a Wk2 Export Australia
Tires make all the difference
just started watching, what engine do you have?
We have the 5.7 hemi
