  • What's going on guys! TheValleyofAwesome here and welcome back (or welcome) to my channel for exploring all the capabilities of QuadraTrac I equipped Jeeps!
    Not too long ago, my friends, cinemademsey, Russianbear001, and I went back to RAM Off Road Park, one of our most favorite places to off road here in Colorado! We went back here and I snagged these clips of my beloved Jeep Rocky, demonstrating her fierce underestimated QuadraTrac I AWD (yes, AWD not 4WD) system.
    I apologize for all the wind noise in this video. It was really bad this day when we filmed :p
    And since some people really hate music during off road videos, I decided to keep all original audio
    ***A note to my current subscribers and viewers: You'll all notice that Rocky does not have her red tow hooks in this video. The reason is because we shot these videos the day before actually installing her red tow hooks. From now on in future off road videos, you'll see Rocky with her super awesome red tow hooks ;)

    Awesome. I’ve a 2010 XK with a 2” lift. Been a pretty capable vehicle thus far.

      Challenger RC That's awesome! :D Yeah the WK is a pretty epic platform of Grand Cherokee in my opinion :)

    I have the same model Wk color and all...just lifted 2.5" with Kenda clever mud tires and I think the problem you are having (other than clearance) is going at obstacles too slow...momentum is a must in the QT1 jeeps.

      _ Red Agreed, momentun is really important :0 But there's times where I don't like using momentum. (It's really hard on suspension parts and plus it can be potentially dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. A friend of mine once almost got into a rollover when he tried to "gun it" up a rutted out hill). I only gun it with Rocky when it's absolutely necessary

      _ Red I guess it's a 50/50 sort of ideal 😅. And yeah. I wish Rocky had 4 low :p

    What is the set up on your jeep and what year and what engine

      STRESSED OUT Thanks for watching :) She is a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4. In this particular video, she is bone stock with the exclusion of her custom paint. She has the QuadraTrac I 4wd system which is essentially a 24/7 AWD system. (Not really 4WD because of the lack of a lockable center differential)

      STRESSED OUT And she also has a 3.7l V6 Powertech mated to a NAG1 Mercedes transmission. Once again, bone stock with no modifcations to them

      Sweet i have one my self same color 2008 laredo 4wd 4.7 v8 trailrated i ahve no idea what that mean🤦‍♂️😂but i got it stock and couple months back i got her Series Ride Height Adjustable Shock Absorber 5100 in front and 2 in body spacer from rough country on the back and bfg ko2 245/70/17 i only had it for 9 months and i love it been on some trail and havent had any problems any plans for yours?

      STRESSED OUT That's awesome! :D Yes the difference between the 4.7 V8 and 3.7 V6 is that your Jeep has 4 low. Mine does not. 4 low means that your Jeep is pretty much more capable because the torque from the transmission can be multiplied via the transfer case gearing and be sent to the wheels. The transfer case can also be locked which is good for traction

      STRESSED OUT And I do have a 2" Daystar Lift Kit in the garage right now for her. I actually got the kit for free from a UA-camr named Revere Overland and am just needing upper control arms, longer shocks, and an adjustable rear track bar. Also planning to do a transfer case swap from an NV140 to a NV242 to get her that 4 low option. That's a whole other complicated story though :p Haha

    Where in Colorado are you wheeling?

    • @TheValleyofAwesome
      @TheValleyofAwesome  3 роки тому

      It depends. Most of Western Colorado has all the good trails since that's where the Rocky Mountain area is at. That's where I usually wheel.
      This video was a long time ago at an off road park in Colorado Springs, a little more south.

    What do you mean by "Using the Torque Converter"?

    • @TheValleyofAwesome
      @TheValleyofAwesome  6 років тому +1

      Disappearingboy1039 I mention it in one of my previous videos (How to Off Road with QT1) it's using the torque converter and letting it reach to stall level. Essentially this is launching your vehicle (In 1st gear, foot hard on brake pedal, rev to 2000 rpms or torque converter stall speed, release the brake pedal). Doing this allows you to charge up/spool your transmission's torque converter, allowing a sudden but short burst of multiplied torque. This kind of torque is necessary since QuadraTrac I has no 4 low.

    • @TheValleyofAwesome
      @TheValleyofAwesome  6 років тому

      Disappearingboy1039 You do have to be careful with using this technique though. It doesn't necessarily harm any of the driveline or anything like that, but if used excessively, this can cause your transmission to overheat

      Nice. Thanks for the clarification. Btw I think I might hold off on lifting my 2008 WK... for now. Instead, what I think I'll do is get some wheel spacers accompanied by some nice offroad tires. I'm still stuck between getting the BFGoodrich Mud Terrain TA KM2's or the Goodyear Wrangler duratrac tires. I'll probably be getting them some time next week. If you have any suggestions I'm all ears man. Thanks again!

      Disappearingboy1039 That's awesome! :D If you post videos at all here on UA-cam let me know! I'd love to see your WK too :)
