    one tip i dont see often is that: switch charger >> morph double slash >> compressed finishing discharge, gives a huge amount of sword amp while maintining high sword guage since switch charger protects depletion if you do the combo right

      Wow that is cool. I did not know about that interaction.

      you probably should be almost always on ebc but accidents happen and it wouldnt hurt to put switch charger & cfd on a different scroll

      Absolutely. Canceling the gauge loss on compressed makes up for one of it's worst drawbacks.

      Thanks for this tip, the CFD is so cool but the lack of good follow ins and follow ups makes it very hard to use relative to the ZSD.

    Such great tips! Especially the one about the FOS. I kinda knew these things instinctively, but having them explained and broken down like this is so useful. It's especially good for players who are getting into Switch Axe. I hope you do more "weapon move breakdowns" like this one.

    Solid advice. One thing I don't see a lot of people use and probably new swaxe player don't know about is back flip axe move you can do after any axe attack to disengage/reposition

  • @acer8123

    Quick correction. You don't need to dodge hop to go into moving morph slash, you just need to be moving or not be in an animation that links into a combo. It's very useful if you're in the wrong mode and need to switch plus poke the monster. The sword into axe moving morph slash is especially good for repositioning since you move a decent amount.

    I use forward stab. Then from there I either morph into sword. Or I enter wild swing to a downward axe strike.
    Or
    I could forward stab, sword morph, then fade slash out.

    I lived by forward slash before rise, and I totally agree with how good it is. However, I like bigger numbers, and I only ever draw in axe when I am too far from the monster and dont have any guage, or want to hit that lovely double sword switch combo. Personally, I use FOS now because I value the higher range of movement and can easily evade out of it with switch skills and the like. The beauty of Swax, it really allows for personal styles more than most of the weapons in the game.

  • @asianartist1
    @asianartist1 Рік тому +1

    holy shit, i thought i was the only one..... hell yeah, it's a terrible option for those who refuse to adapt.... i started on mh 1. just my perspective, but the overhead allows you to link into a LOT better attack options overall to the point that the slash is not worth it for the types of combos you can produce with it... you'll be a better hunter for yourself and everyone else when you utilize the better options... like it's no problem if you get more skilled... but this is not a limitation we impose - it's self set.

    As somebody who exclusively play swaxe, the tips #2 to #4 I agree with.
    However regarding #1, there's one use case that I must point out that in the end makes me Forwards Slash and not FOS: draw attack.
    Okay, normally you draw with sword mode, that is no question.
    The only exception being if you have to sheathe while not having enough gauge to morph back into sword.
    In that case, FOS is actually awkward to draw into, since it's your only option, (well not really, you could jump with a wirebug and do the aerial reload, which is way shorter.)
    But when I was doing my 1000 Valstrax grind in Base Rise, I ended up swapping out FOS at one point because against valstrax, FOS actually was awkward, since I already positioned myself with rolls correctly so I didn't need the covering ground done by it, plus having Evade Extender 2, evading and then sword morph was always faster.
    When i started Rise, I also swore only by FOS, but the experience of my grind made me realise the drawbacks of it, and in the end I didn't use it enough to justify keeping it.
    Also it's funny how we use the same Layered Armor though I use MR Valstrax Waist and HR Valstrax Arms, but the Head and Chest are the same xD.

    • @AifritGaming
      @AifritGaming  Рік тому +1

      Oh my gosh I remember that Reddit post for 1k valstrax, you’re that person! Thanks for the detailed response. In hindsight I feel mixed on my delivery of tip 1. Personally I just don’t use FOS very much at all but it’s just set as my skill. I wanted to emphasize how good morph overhead slash is. But totally fair point on being out of luck on a good draw option if you’re out of gauge. Guess we just have good sense of style!

    • @Regal_Eagle
      @Regal_Eagle Рік тому +1

      @@AifritGaming Eh, didn't expect to get recognised.
      But still, for the double morph slash, I use the best attack for it... Aerial Axe! Honestly its a good way to capitalise on a wyvrrnride if you can manage to wirebug in the right direction, it allows you a good combi and lines up perfectly for the ZSD stab right when the monster gets up! That's something I learned from my Valstrax grind.
      Also if there's a ledge, don't be shy and use the axe attack/morph in axe midair, its the safer option to get this attack.
      Cause what bugs me the most with FOS, is the delay before you can morph its like the hunter is contemplating what to do before finally deciding to follow up.

    • @AifritGaming
      @AifritGaming  Рік тому +5

      I only really use it in max multiplayer when I can't reliably counter. It is quite nice if you need to amp but you have to chase the monster around a lot in MP.

      Right, what I’m saying is the charging overhead slash shouldn’t be used in place of the forward slash. The sword morph slash just does the same low commitment animation that forward slash does except it does more damage.

    I currently finishing up the Risens, and I did not know that unsheathe sword morph was as fast as forward slash. I never took forward overhead because I would just overshoot and cart.
    How good is power slam for amped axe. I still use it because of World habits.

    • @AifritGaming
      @AifritGaming  Рік тому

      Unfortunately Capcom didn’t implement the power slam as good as it was in world. When active you get the faster amp charge and partbreaking but unfortunately as soon as you are amped you lose the buff from the power slam. So the partbreaking/flinch bonus just goes away when you’re amped which makes it pretty bad after you’ve amped frankly.

    In none of my hunts or runs i use forward overhead. Just draw into sword, forward slash is also useful for quick gapclosing.
    On downs, you can finish your 2 morb loops with doible slash for instant zsd, its a little tighter than just 2 loops but offense is offense.
    Psb also multiplies the phial boost by another 1.1x, beating out even anti species, so much so that the meta axes augment the extra slot instead of raw+species exploit

    • @AifritGaming
      @AifritGaming  Рік тому

      Yeah, I love psb so much. Basically there's isn't much use for forward slash or forward overhead. Sword morph overhead kind of does it all.

    • @iamsasch
      @iamsasch Рік тому

      PSB has some really fancy interactions, come to think of it RM as a whole does.
      Forward overhead *would* be cool for the 3 hit morph if it didnt mess with the opening so much and wasnt so commitment heavy. You mentioned a morph loop taking 4.5s to complete, i dont know off the top of my head how long 2 loops would take if you initiated with overhead exactly, but it doesnt line up at all in my experience. EE1/2 (depending on matchup) or switch charger for weapons that cant get (shaggy) or dont need (ele phials) PSB is the better choice imo.
      Im glad SA gets attention tho either way 😌

    • @AifritGaming
      @AifritGaming  Рік тому +1

      @@iamsasch Yeah, I'm so reliant on psb gauge that I just run it on element phial. Bit weaker but I just don't like playing without it.
      Yeah the forward overhead is quite a bit longer because you have the triple slash after. Just have to feel it out on when you need to stop for zsd or counter.

    • @AifritGaming
      @AifritGaming  Рік тому +1

      Depends. Personally I find I still like to run power prolonger. If you feel you can sustain amp with the counter without it then you won’t need it. I find with a power phial I like to run it since I also play a decent amount of multiplayer and it’s harder to counter there.
