    Really good to know that the difference isn't as much as i thought it would be.
    Now I feel better about most of my Switchaxe builds already leaning to crit over atb since I have better charms and augments for those kind of builds.
    I really like your videos, because they have a really high quality to them and a nice change of pace from a lot of other channels, that focus more on quantity over quality (probably due to the algorhythm, but still)

    i never understood why people are saying that crits are bad on switch axe
    sure, phial burst cannot crit... but they have a mere 10 motion value
    all the meaty chops absolutely can crit
    why the heck this thing even started?
    btw, with decent augments you can do both attack and affinity

    Great to have you back Drew and with another banger video💪
    Overall I like that the builds dish out relatively the same amount of damage, cause it's a good reminder that we have the freedom to choose our preferred build/play-style and not dictated by only one build.
    like for example I am a Chargeblade main(just been having a lot of fun playing around with Sunbreak's Switch Axe) and the other day I was able to test in several anomaly hunts that the way I play with Raw vs Elemental, both end up having similar quest clear times in comparison .Element obviously roughly 1 minute faster in terms of clear times, but I tend to lean more towards Raw for the utility of stuns and easier part breaks and that makes it more handy for me and my friends when we play.
    Keep up the great work man! I look forward to seeing the next video!

      Thanks! The immediate support is motivating after being away for a while. Yeah I agree sometimes it's easy to get carried away with the details. For most, the goal is to complete the hunt and these single digit % differences aren't going to be the things making that difference on your success.

    Thanks for this video! I was asking myself for a while which would be better and have been using crit for some of my switch axe builds. Good to know that the difference is really negligible for the average player

      @AifritGaming  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah, I've been scratching my head on the reasoning behind crit for quite some time. In isolation, attack boost always looked better however the key is amount of attack we have access to while not using attack boost itself. Since crit is a scalar on attack there's a threshold on when it starts to overtake. This attack threshold is passed by a reasonable margin all the time unless you are avoiding the skills/buffs I listed.

    Ha! I always ZSD a lot with afflicted monsters, if I get the blood blight, as it fully heal me, does damage and ignore their next attack for 99% of the situations.
    But like you I grew tired of derelection/MoH. I like to swap skills, and I personally build around intreprid heart1, wire step to proc bladescale hone1 and adrenaline rush. I removed protective polish and run razor sharp now. So I just get out of the way and regain sharpness and proc damage boost etc. And get in a better position to cut a tail!
    I just wish Wire Step and Soaring Wyvern Blade were not on the same slot, because the recovery of ZSD without SWB is pretty bad.

    • @AifritGaming
      @AifritGaming  2 роки тому +1

      Wish I could say the same with my ZSDs. I go directly to the grave sometimes lol. Maybe I just consistently make the most ill advised zsds ever. There are moments in afflicted hunts where I really need to focus a spot to pop the qurio and ZSD has been really handy. Especially when it's on a spot with a bad hit zone.

    I talked to a few console hunters, so I have a question about attack vs crit. For base Rise where raw values are much lower, therefore the critical modifier is not quite as significant as MR weapons, would it be better to prioritize attack boost over crit for the base game? I find it generally easier to create crit builds over attack builds, without sacrificing some comfort skills. So i’m wondering what can I recommend to new hunters as to how they should allocate skills for raw swaxe builds? From my testing it seems like prioritizing attack boost has a higher damage ceiling than full crit builds, still slotting in wex 3, if you can take advantage of wex and things like rousing roar to push your crit up as much as possible while slotting attack boost 6-7, then I think prioritizing attack boost may edge it out slightly.

    • @AifritGaming
      @AifritGaming  Рік тому +4

      Yeah that's right. I would say attack boost is the way to go in base rise. If you could compare 7 AB to 7 CE with about 230 attack with WEX and CB 3 ground combos generally do ~7% less raw damage on average with crit. Also the total skill budget is a lot lower in base rise and switch axe has some skill tax from rapid morph + power prolonger. CE really thrives most if you can get CB + WEX 3. I think your findings are accurate. Attack should be the way to go and any affinity you can get along the way will definitely still make a good difference. Low affinity definitely has the possibilities of wider variance than crit eye builds but on average should be better.

      @@AifritGaming Awesome, thanks man! It’s nice that attack boost is more relevant in this game, where it’s a percentage based bonus as opposed to additive. So credit to the MH team for reworking attack boost.

      @AifritGaming  2 роки тому +1

      Nope you're not wrong. I just left it as the amount of affinity you have in terms of your stats. The affinity values would be as you said when striking a weak zone and that's accounted for here.

      @@AifritGaming it's ok as long as the calcs were done with the correct numbers :)
      I'm still curious about what's right though, for example I used the SA calculator feat.kookaburra in Fox Invictus spreadsheet, and I always get more damage in the grounded loops with AB7 than with CE7.
      Either way, the best news is to have you back here, welcome back!

    • @AifritGaming
      @AifritGaming  2 роки тому +1

      You'll need to do a few things on the calculator to get the result. I think there are some rounding difference between what I did but I can observe CE7 being slightly ahead.
      The hit zones need to all be set to 65/30 and the total raw needs to add up to what I ended up with which is 402 with CE and 444 with AB. This is because there's an overtake threshold for attack and it kind of just happens with all the sources of attack there are that aren't attack boost.
      If you want to take a look I set it up here: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/139w-6bE7uJzuC1-xsV2XmVMFhLzhnW2q9ac_6xLkKgc/edit#gid=1880395994

    Hi Aifrit great video as always, question, is element exploit a good skill for power phial instead Burst 2 or crit boost 3?

    • @AifritGaming
      @AifritGaming  2 роки тому +1

      I think it'll depend on the power phial switch axe you are using. For something like Kushala element exploit is quite good because it's ice element is so high and we now also get 10% more ice with kushala blessing decorations. Zinogre is getting there but I would think raising crit boost is better. In the end it's all very close and the ideal to me is honestly get all of them but I figure you're in a position of slotting in the last few skills of a build.. There's granularity to this too such as situations where element zones are really high and element exploit overtakes. Sorry for not a straight forward answer! I should have an element video up today.

      Initial thoughts, chaotic gore weapon seems quite good given you run bloodlust. You basically overcap affinity once you overcome frenzy. Dragon element is also reasonable, definitely the best dragon power phial but the existing power phials weren't that great.
      The gearset itself.. strife seems quite strong if you want to run it and maintain that red hp. The helm is a standout to me with the sheer amount of skills you get from it and will probably be a go to piece whether you're going for strife suicide or not.

    I'm no expert and I don't make enough videos to fully critique someone but I suggest Instead of making an armor said That has so many abilities on it you don't know exactly what makes wet better Maybe you should do 3 experiments 1 with the control that only has the abilities that you're talking about which is increasing your affinity and One that increases attack Then Make an armor set that has no affinity on it the ex boy's having high attack And then make another armor set that boost critical damage And you'd have to run about 10 of each hunting each of them and then just multiply that by 10 and then you'll come up with an answer for what is better for what I said while also probably trying a hybrid between the both of them to see if that Set is better Which I know sounds like a ton of work but it would actually give a definitive answer

    • @AifritGaming
      @AifritGaming  2 роки тому

      So the main conclusion I had from this is as attack goes up so does the effectiveness of critical skills. Early on looking at this information in isolation crit mathed out to be weaker especially with weaker weapons in base rise. A baseline of attack that you should expect to have in most cases is important for the comparison because of how investing in crit and attack scale differently. So with a rough baseline you can just compare the difference of ~40-45 attack (the value of attack boost 7 depending on the SA) depending on what switch axe you are using vs 40% added affinity. I think the theory here is pretty definitive for comparing the two skills against each other. Basically there's a threshold of attack where investing in crit instead is ever so slightly better for ground combos. In practice the difference is extremely small and wouldn't really be noticed by most. I believe I observed that attack 7 with 3 agitator instead was even or ahead by decimal points but that gets reduced a bit with agitator uptime, especially since it's 50/50 basically in afflicted hunts.

    I've recently started using Maximum Might with Bloodlust and WEX on my non status sets.
    The uptime on might is fairly generous considering some of the tricks you can use to move with SA. Morph attacks, gambit, redirection... Then of course it's just free on big openings.
    I've had some decent luck with qurious rolls and my stupid good talisman, but as an example with the Scorned SA... If I drop a level in might or burst I can use a single level 2+ slot weapon, or drop might to 2 and burst to 1 for level 1 slot weapons. Redirection is still a huge burden so dropping that would open up a lot, probably. I just can't get enough of it and it enables a lot more countering.
