The picture had Hebrew, Jewish writings. I loved all the drawers in the kitchen and that indoor pool was amazing. Very sad it's being demolished. You should show the pictures. What are you worried about. I really want to see. I would love to live there!
@ConnecttheDotsBaby I think it's sad beautiful homes with so much history are abandoned and unloved to the point they're demolished. I don't think I'll ever understand why families leave most of their love ones belongings. I get some don't have families. I know after watching enough abandoned and forgotten I told my children everything they don't want goes to families in need or something good with it.
THE OBJECT IN THE DOORWAY IS A mezuzah is a small case affixed to the doorframe of each room in Jewish homes and workplaces which contains a tiny scroll of parchment inscribed with a prayer. It is customary for religious Jews to touch the mezuzah every time they pass through a door and kiss the fingers that touched it.
It is Jewish home and that picture is Israeli. What a gorgeous house. Thank you Ethan! I absolutely love how you appreciate the older homes. That’s why I watch your videos. God bless
That was amazing. The basement looked like a thrift/antique store. I sure hope they salvage and donate everything before demolishing. So much usable solid furniture and fixtures.
maybe because of all that mold in pool room although you would think they could hire someone to get rid of the mold… this house doesn’t look much like 1960, it’s beautiful! (move in ready if it wasn’t for the mold)
People don’t apply any energy to anything. Restoring this place would be so rewarding and the stuff that doesn’t need restoration is so beautiful. It makes me sick that it’s a throw away world!
This custom designed mid century modern would have been a beautiful home in it's day . Not suprising that the original owners lived in this home for over 60 years . Very impressive explore Ethan .
Our pram was a Silver cross, aka, the Rolls Royce of prams and used by all four of us. My maternal grandmother bought it for my parents and mum passed it onto a friend when she stopped using it. We were a working class family, everyone had these prams as they were great not only for transporting the children, but great for shopping as they had a wire basket between the wheels and a deep space under the bed area of the pram (under the mattress), something I wished I had when had my daughter 😂
Along with my other comment, Ethan, I was gonna just let you know that as a person gets older, it gets harder and harder go up and down the stairs so they might’ve converted parts of the house out of necessity so that they wouldn’t have to go up and down the stairs so much or it’s a possibility too, that they had aging parents and design the house to where there would be two living quarters one downstairs and one upstairs just in my opinion, thanks for sharing please take care and be safe🫶🏻❤️🤠
Ethan, I really hope that someone came into the this home and took the rest of the antiques and furniture that I noticed that was left behind. That is a waste if they didn’t in my opinion, 😢. but it’s a beautiful home and as always it’s a shame that it’s going to get torn down. Thank you for sharing. Take care and be safe.🫶🏻❤️🤠
As of this moment, i stopped the video while you were in the basement because i was curious about those things on the doorway too! I did a screenshot and they're mezuzah cases, and they 'contain a parchment scroll with verses from the Torah (specifically, Deuteronomy 6:4-9 and 11:13-21)'. They're put on doorframes of Jewish homes as a reminder of the presence of God and a symbol of Jewish identity. We both learned something new today! Now i'm going to finish watching. :)
Wug . Great big top of the line house WITHOUT being " gawdy - over the top or piss elegant ! " Love it , especially the office . Great work as usual young man . Later Ethan . 🙂. LA.
I laughed too! My ex-husband and I worked at Zenith from the late 70s to the mid 80s before they closed their 2 TV cabinet production plants and moved to Mexico! I might've made that cabinet!
Hi Ethan.. This is one of the best houses so far I have seen by you. The upstairs looks like it never was renovated from the 60's..very cool wallpaper and on the ceiling in some of the areas .that was the style.. I appreciate these type of homes . It appears the original owner passed away and the kids are selling the land.. Those baby carriages are vintage from the 60's..those are worth some money I am sure and some of the old style furniture that was left could be refurbished...totally enjoy your tours of abandon homes.. Here in the states there are alot of no trespassing signs on abandoned homes from what I have seen on you tube..anyway, thanks again!!
I agree the upstairs master was the original. The downstairs was probably used in the later years as they got older and likely had trouble going up the stairs. It also could have been an in-law set up originally.
the fisher Price toys are from the 70s I bouught the recird player and farm for my sons. They eere the sturdiest toys ever,.surely they eill sell these nice things ,antiques now. Lovely ,beautiful home.❤️🇺🇸👍
A massive basement & absolutely gorgeous home. If only the new buyer could see it's beauty & salvage it. Saddens me to know it will be demolished 😢. Thank You for sharing with us, I appreciate & enjoy all your videos.
I agree with you Ethan it’s a shame that these older homes are gone. This home is gorgeous I hope they saved all of the furniture. Love the older homes that’s why I watch your videos. Thank you for sharing. Happy Thanksgiving stay safe 😊
That Canadian accent is the best. I live near Amana Iowa, where there is an Amana factory. I had to giggle. It's pronounced A-man-a. Love watching your videos and what a gorgeous home. Those strollers? Daaaanggg
I might've made that Zenith TV cabinet at 30:42! I screenshot it and looked it up and we were making those on our production line in 1981! My ex-husband and I worked there in the late 70s to the mid 80s before they closed their 2 TV Cabinet production plants in Evansville, Indiana and moved to Mexico!
I so enjoyed watching this wonderful video! I learned so much from your tour, and I especially learned so much from the comments. The house is outstanding, oh yes, some things wrong with it, but for the right person, could be repaired and loved once again. Thank you so much for finding this treasure and sharing it with us. Blessings. ❤
Seeing those Baby Strollers reminded me of the one my mother used for me in the 1980's times, and it was Silver Cross co. that made them, I think in that time they had gray and blue with white like you just seen.
What a very nice house! So many beautiful details and well maintained! Hard to tell what some of the rooms were but still very nice! Thank you Ethan for another find!
I remember seeing a house with a similar concept with the sunk in concreted room with the sump pump was located. The builders were very smart and though hey if the sump pump ever failed only the sunk in room would flood instead of the whole basement.
This is a Mid-Century Masterpiece!✨ It is a real original dream home to me. There is so much to love, I think my favorite feature is the foyer, with the huge window and the staircase, absolutely stunning!!🤩🤟✌️
I love that this home is so spacious. Very cool to see all the vintage furniture, wallpaper, etc. Such a shame it has to be demolished. Thanks for sharing it with us, Ethan.
Wow Damn this house is gorgeuos . I would love to have a home like this well built. Thanks Ethan for this mind blowing explore it is incredible to see how big it really is.SPELLING. Proper space for a lovely family. Take care hun stay warm lookin forward to the next video from you:)(. Love ya hugs Barbie FL.
Oh how this hurts my heart! No way would I tear this down....NO...WAY!!!!! Even the furniture left behind is gorgeous let alone the house itself!!! So glad you were able to capture this one!
I was born in 1960, we had a clawed cast iron tub which I loved, built in medicine cabinet across from the sink, bathroom floor was about 12” checkerboard black and white tile floor. Dining room light fixture on a cord that could be moved up and down. Kitchen had red cabinets and pink walls. 🤮 basement for storage, furnace grate on the floor and iron grate on bedroom floors for heat to raise, no air conditioning. Boy those were the days😁my Dad updated the house himself room by room from mid 60s to early 70s
Lovin’ this home!!! Mid century modern gem 💎 Ethan you always do such a fabulous job. You are so respectful of the properties and the owners who lived there. Thank you for that 💙💙💙
That control panel with the 2 knobs in the original master bedroom was the General Electric master control station for lights. It was a low voltage control with 1 On knob and 1 Off knob. You could dial, lets say light #2 and if you pressed the On knob that light would go on, if you dialed the Off knob to #2 and pressed it that light would go off. What the purpose was to having this in the Master bedroom, was if you forgot to turn off some lights when going to bed you could press in the Off knob while rotating it through all the numbers. This would shut off all the lights controlled by this system. (Porch lights, etc. listed on the directory)Conversley, you could also turn on all the lights by pressing in the On knob and rotating it through all the numbers. There would have been a lighting relay cabinet somewhere in the house to operate this. It was quite the modern convenience for 1960, and I'd say it would be rare to have it installed in a house. So this house was really high end.
I was thinking this too. An unusual and high end feature to see in a house from this time period. These folks were living ahead of their time but makes sense given what I assume was a wealthy family who were aware of and could apparently afford all of the modern conveniences available to them at that time.
What a massive house. Untouched? It’s been well fondled 😉 all it needs is out door maintenance and a run thought updating the carpets and wall colours and you have a fantastic home. I’d buy and live in this.
After you fix the ceilings and the black mold right? Ceiling is going to collapse in several areas of the house. That may be the reason the owner or owners decided to level it, they got a estimate on how much it would cost to fix the water damage and mold.
@ yes. You would have to bring up to code. I assume from renovations I’ve done in the past most of it is from lack of maintenance. Not necessarily structural- of course being an arm chair critic who knows what the true state of the place is.
There were only two areas I noticed black mold. Hard to say if it's throughout the house. Definitely the pool room, and around the beams where the skylights are, but that is not unusual. There is no other humidity issues, there would be bowing or shrinking of the hardwood floors if there were. A re-roof would be the best way to find out if it's a widespread problem. Would need to be done if this was to be restored anyway...
This was really cool! Loved the two vintage kitchenaid dishwashers and the older kitchenaid trash compactor. Some much cool stuff that I hope was saved.
Wow, amazing home, all the wallpaper made me smile, thise bathrooms were great! The kitchen was huge, so was the basement… I think u were right that owner was an architect, who else would think about y o pump in lower room?? The pool room was gorgeous!! I really enjoyed the front entrance with the beautiful stairway! This house is one for the books! I appreciate the work you put in to Shia us the beauty of this once loved home! Thank you again Ethan, great job! Keep Exploring Safely!👍🙏💕
Not usually a fan of mid-century houses/design but this was amazing! I’m thinking the original owner was an architect and designed this home for himself and family. I agree the upstairs master bedroom en-suite was the original and the lower one was used when the owner (s) became elderly and couldn’t climb stairs any longer. That basement was as interesting as the rest of the house!! Great house, Ethan.
I always like to see a Round window like in the Pool Area😊 The wallpapers and your excitement over details are catching! Wow! Wow! Wow! Endorphins galore in this exploration! One of the only ones where I was actually interested in the owners story! If everyone watched your explores the world would be much more optimistic and excited place😊
Another home gone soon to be that home was absolutely beautiful and no words can express the indoor pool with built in spa the rooms were huge but in the 1960s all the rooms were huge that is why people can fit more furniture in and having two master bedrooms well its different and yet they are going to bulldoze it down to make a new mansion that would have nothing that the old 1960s mansion had Ethan I will tell you something the old homes and mansions may need a lot of work but they can out class of todays modern homes and mansions but Eathan thank you for showing you viewers that beautiful 1960s mansion as the saying goes they don't make old homes like that any more take care and see you in the next one
These midcentury homes are very much like what we’re built in Rhodesia now is Zimbabwe through the nineteen fifties to the 1970s the most spectacular midcentury modern homes you’ve ever seen and quite a lot of of them are still untouched , Magnificent subterranean floors with fireplace is in the centre of them Rhodesian teak flooring throughout them all . Truly magnificent and this house in your video is no exception. It’s absolutely heartbreaking that it would be torn down.
The house was built mid-century but is not a mid-century modern! The original house was traditional but the addition was contemporary… The upstairs master suite bathroom and wardrobe area was gorgeous!!
Good evening ethan ,liturly just watched this and subsequently discovered your channel ,subscribed also, totally caught my attention as im in complete agreement adore these homes and decades, should be preserved not knocked down ,its a crying shame and great idea about leasing ,renting thrm out only to be used as intented, love from the uk and look forward to watching more vids ,thank you 😊lisa 🤗
I loved it! I can only hope and pray that the furniture and fittings that are left are salvaged. Also the wood, it would be in my opinion criminal to just bulldoze the lot. Thanks for this viseo, blast from the past.
Long story, but after a bit i came back to rewatch because it needed a 2nd viewing. At first i thought you were going too fast, but at your regular explore speed the explore would've been twice as long though i think it would've been justified this time (the house and their stuff was pretty cool). I DO think this house had a main floor (and likely basement) addition and my guess is all the carpeted area beyond the wood floor of the living room was new (plus the bathroom, walk in closet, and counter/sink area across from it) and the area of the basement with the low ceiling (btw, i was talking with American friends about CT money on Friday night 😂). I agree that basements with sump pumps should have that area lower (it's just common sense right?!). Trying to keep this short but i loved so much of this one--upstairs wallpapers, bathrooms, primary suite, the bubble window in the pool room (!), the kitchen (not the microwave location; short girl problem😄) and too much else to list. As for what you said at the end, it really is heartbreaking to see them go, but it's sadly not just a Toronto thing and the homes of this era are in danger in California too. Back in early November i was speaking with a woman from there who bought an MCM with her hubby (it's an account i follow; they're restoring EVERYTHING outside and in back to it's original based on vintage photos 🥰) who mentioned her neighbourhood is also losing older homes for the exact same reason. She's now trying to get her area declared an historic district before they're all gone.. hopefully with any luck it'll happen. Anyway, thank you so very much for this one, and no complaints at all from me that you took a little longer! Take care! 😊
WOW, what a property! Love the pool area! The stairway and chandelier are beautiful. I agree the master was originally upstairs and with it being single family owned they made another one downstairs when the owner got up in age. I can't imagine looking out a window and still seeing parts of your home, that's when you know it's BIG! lol Wonderful and incredible explore. Thanks again Ethan!
Ethan i really love this house. Love its style and finishes and light fixtures and kitchen and staircase etc. i would much rather live here than in some hastily built mcmansion. It would be more economical to do some restoration work and a bit of updating. Some of the coolest bathrooms! Yes theyre a little outdated but who cares. I would try to leave them the way they are. Cool wallpapers. Wallpapers seem to stay nice for a long time. Some of those extra wallpaper rolls in the basement could perhaps be saved and used on accent walls etc. as a matter of fact there is so much to be saved throughout. It would be nice to fill a small warehouse with left behind items that could have another life. So many pieces of furniture etc that i would even like to buy. And it has been a dream of mine to be wealthy enough to purchase some of these homes to restore them and sell them to buyers that would appreciate and cherish them for another lifetime. Too much is lost when theyre destroyed. Who needs a larger house than this. Thank you ethan for sharing this really cool house. Its one i would like to imagine living in. Take care, be well, and stay safe! Oh and i love the pool but hate the mold. Wish it were easier to prevent and remediate.
Beautiful home. I truly hope they salvaged everything thatbcould be and fonated or sold. I loved the crystal chandeliers. And that beautiful staircase. I think the iwner was an architect and prob designed that place. It's so sad to see such beauty and elegance be demolished. There are people whose thing it is to go into older homes that are worth the effort and reno them , keeping what can be as an homage to the past but making it more modern. That place was absolutely huge. Im glad youre able to document, i hope you are able to convey to these people that your subscribers/viewers hope they donate what they can of furniture and fixtures. I would die to have those crystal chandeliers and two of the dressers. Thanks for this. ❤
Beautiful home! I loved the foyer, the staircase and that fantastic ceiling to floor window behind the staircase. I love old homes, especially the 1900 to the 1930s. This was especially beautiful for the 60s. Great video. I don’t really understand basements, we don’t have them here in Texas. Do you pay a lot extra for them? The storage is fantastic and the fixed up ones are doubling the square footage of the home. I would love a basement….❤
WOW what a house. I wouldn't know what to do with something so big. It was amazing. I can only imagine how much furniture there was judging by what was lft in basement. Great find Ethan.
Really incredible home. Looks like they paid attention to details, light fixtures, wallpaper, I even liked the couch and furniture left behind. What a pity it has to be demolished.
This house is absolutely beautiful if I was rich I would have bought it and just fixed it up where the mold is in the leaks and where there's water damage. It's just so beautiful
Hey Ethan I love that breakfast nook off the kitchen! Wonderful laundry room That room by the pool area I think is for people who swam! The pool area is nice as heck! What a very nice older home! The drapes in that house are awesomely made! The furniture they left is also nice 😮 such a shame the house is being torn down and all that stuff in the basement 😮 those old baby strollers are worth a lot, they are considered antique!
This house probable had kosher kitchens. This would include separate dishwashers and refrigerators to keep meat and dairy separate. Cool video.
Agree kosher Jewish kitchen. My grandpa had a horrible experience in a kosher kitchen as a child. He made up his mind to become a modern Jewish man.
It is customary for religious Jews to touch the mezuzah every time they pass through a door and kiss the fingers that touched it.
I have one in my home. 😊
It is commanded in the Bible in Deuteronomy 6:4 and 11:13-21. It is a commandment to put one on the doorposts of the house.
@@KimIreland-y3u That's beautiful 🚪🙏🏼💕
Should they be removed before the house is destroyed?
I read the mezuzah should be removed from the door frames if remodeling especially demolition. 😢 Abandoned and forgotten.
❤ I don't often comment, but this home was a master showpiece! One of your best ever and Criminal to tear down! Great job!
It is Jewish home and that picture is Israeli. What a gorgeous house. Thank you Ethan! I absolutely love how you appreciate the older homes. That’s why I watch your videos. God bless
That’s why there are 2 dishwashers. They kept kosher.
That was amazing. The basement looked like a thrift/antique store. I sure hope they salvage and donate everything before demolishing. So much usable solid furniture and fixtures.

The Silver Cross Pram or baby carriage as called here is from England. Those are high end prams used by the Royal Family, and other well to do Brits.
Silver Cross Prams from that time frame range from $4000-$8000. I hope it wasn’t left in the house by the family when it was torn down.
It looks like it can still stand the test of time today. Such a beautiful home!
Love your videos! I'm 65 yr old retired construction worker. So like the old houses! 😊
This house was incredible! I love learning new things thru the comments too!
I was born in 1960. That's a beautiful home 🥰
This house has the glitz and glam of Hollywood.
Yes I also thinkg that the area downstairs could have been an office original. Then when they got older they used it as living space.
No way what I knock this thing down I would keep it just the way it is!😮
The ceiling is going to fall in, and there is black mold, probably a lot more black mold than you think in the walls.
I agree!
@@jenniferrobbins8439exactly what my daughter said when I told her about the pool room and then you get to the basement which is a big mess!
Ethan, I really hope that someone came into the this home and took the rest of the antiques and furniture that I noticed that was left behind. ZĒNITH TVs were top of the line in the 60/70s
Thanks Ethan the house was so awesome, I especially loved the vintage wallpapers. I would live there !
The tv in the basement, is pronounced Zeenith. I laughed when you pronounced it like it’s spelled. It was a big name back in the day.
I laughed too! My ex-husband and I worked at Zenith from the late 70s to the mid 80s before they closed their 2 TV cabinet production plants and moved to Mexico! I might've made that cabinet!
He’s so young and doesn’t know about life before 2000!! Haha! Some of us “elders” have to explain these things to him!
Zenith is pronounced exactly as it is spelled. Google pronunciation and listen to voice.

These folks were living ahead of their time but makes sense given what I assume was a wealthy family who were aware of and could apparently afford all of the modern conveniences available to them at that time.
Hi Ethan this is stunning so beautiful thank you Ann ❤️❤️❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
What a massive house. Untouched? It’s been well fondled 😉 all it needs is out door maintenance and a run thought updating the carpets and wall colours and you have a fantastic home. I’d buy and live in this.
After you fix the ceilings and the black mold right?
Ceiling is going to collapse in several areas of the house.
That may be the reason the owner or owners decided to
level it, they got a estimate on how much it would
cost to fix the water damage and mold.
@ agree, it would be a good proposition
That dresser inside one of the main floor bedrooms was beautiful. And looks like it was in perfect condition.
That may be a kosher kitchen. That would be the reason for having two dishwashers.
This is definitely a home that a religious/Orthodox Jewish family lived in. There are a few things that gave that away to me immediately.
What a stunning backyard. Amazing. I truly hope someone doesn’t erect a monument to themselves but they probably will.
Yes, I knew thar immediately when I saw the two dishwashers. Also, there were some Hebrew letters on the wall artwork.
Only into back yard and kitchen, how could anyone tear this down😢
This was really cool! Loved the two vintage kitchenaid dishwashers and the older kitchenaid trash compactor. Some much cool stuff that I hope was saved.
Gorgeous house with lots of character. That main staircase is, well, insane.
Excellent explore, Ethan. You never disappoint. Until the next adventure!
wow I would have fixed instead of destroying it loved this beautiful home. Thanks for sharing . ❤❤❤ stay safe love ya 😊
Wow! That house is totally amazing!! Thanks so much for the tour! Absolutely loved it!
This place is Insane!! The bathrooms are gorgeous! The fisherprice toys are from the 70s, I had them all😂Thanks for doing this one Ethan, ❤️
A lovely home now, I can only imagine how nice in the 1960’s.❤
Great house.. Great finds that I would love to own.. Those hardwood floors/parquet are very expensive.. What a shame to bulldoze them..
The original house was traditional but the addition was contemporary…
The upstairs master suite bathroom and wardrobe area was gorgeous!!
Nice find .I love that wall paper.
Good evening ethan ,liturly just watched this and subsequently discovered your channel ,subscribed also, totally caught my attention as im in complete agreement adore these homes and decades, should be preserved not knocked down ,its a crying shame and great idea about leasing ,renting thrm out only to be used as intented, love from the uk and look forward to watching more vids ,thank you 😊lisa 🤗
thank you
Amazing house!
A very nice home and it had some awesome wallpaper.
I loved it! I can only hope and pray that the furniture and fittings that are left are salvaged. Also the wood, it would be in my opinion criminal to just bulldoze the lot. Thanks for this viseo, blast from the past.
What a gorgeous house. Sure doesn't look like its been 60 years empty. Huge , amazing basement. Great explore!
I really liked the indoor swimmimg pool and all the wallpapers. Such a shame it is going to be pulled down. Many thanks for the tour.
Thanks! I just love 1960's architecture. Mid-century modern is my thing!
Amazing!
Gorgeous home!!
Love the herringbone wood floors! The entry double doors with knobs in the center of the doors; very special. Loved the staircase too!
Really incredible home. Looks like they paid attention to details, light fixtures, wallpaper, I even liked the couch and furniture left behind. What a pity it has to be demolished.
Beautiful home omg it very nice still in good condition
Wow what a nice house. I really like the layout.🙂 Thank you for all you do. 😊
Thanks for the tour, Ethan! What a cool house!
This house is absolutely beautiful if I was rich I would have bought it and just fixed it up where the mold is in the leaks and where there's water damage. It's just so beautiful
Hello Ethan 👋I’m watching your great video now 👍❤️😎
Ethan I think you are awesome for trying to document this older home.
I love these houses shame its being torn down. Thank you for showing them.
Hey Ethan I love that breakfast nook off the kitchen! Wonderful laundry room
That room by the pool area I think is for people who swam! The pool area is nice as heck! What a very nice older home! The drapes in that house are awesomely made! The furniture they left is also nice 😮 such a shame the house is being torn down and all that stuff in the basement 😮 those old baby strollers are worth a lot, they are considered antique!
The basement bathroom was amazing. Thanks
