@@NoahNowhere Thats a shame. I hate the thought of waste and so many good building supplies destroyed and just rotting away in a landfill. I just think of how many more modest sized quality homes could have been mostly built with some creativity and hard work from that one tare down.

Makes me sick that fine craftsmanship and quality materials are considered trash to be thrown in a landfill to be replaced with crap that will immediately start falling apart. I’ve seen enough videos by inspectors for new construction and it’s UNBELIEVABLE the garbage they throw together and call an $800,000 house.

That is a Mezuzah on the door post. It contains specific Hebrew verses from the Torah. It is touched when entering the room from what I understand. Religious Jews are reminded of their covenant with God by these Mezuzahs.

As I stated on Ethan's video of this house, it belonged to an observant Orthodox Jewish family. The patriarch Mr. H, was born in Hungary and survived the Holocaust. As the founder of a real estate development and building company in the 1950s, he was instrumental in the residential development of the surrounding area. He also contributed to many Jewish education and healthcare organizations and other religious causes, in addition to being instrumental in the construction of a nearby synagogue and Jewish school. His children have taken after their father and are presently involved in several commercial development companies that built and manage many notable shopping and business plazas across Canada. Mr. H passed in 2021 at 97 leaving behind his wife, children, grandchildren, and notably over 100 great-grandchildren. His wife (13:58) likely was forced to downsize due to her age, leaving the property in the position to be developed. Since the home does not appear to have been listed for sale, the family has chosen to build a new house on the property be it for their own use, or to resell.
In the kitchen you noticed two fridges, stoves, dishwashers, sinks, etc as per Kosher requirements, there is a requirement to have separate storage/preparation/cleaning for meat and dairy.

Thanks! This is a gorgeous home that was so lovingly cared for over many years. It is really clean. I do hope they salvage a lot of the wood trim and cabinets & lighting. The family must have been a prominent one. The two separate prep areas in the kitchen are for keeping dairy & meat preparation separate, which is common, I think, in conservative Jewish homes. If the development company were smart, they would place an ad for a house to give away. Someone would pay to jack and move the house, and the developers wouldn't have to pay for demolition. The house would get a second life instead of becoming landfill.

The padded cubby would be for a Torah, the mirrored cabinet may have been for glass ware if so there is a bar hiding in that room. I am guessing this is a multi-generational home. Grandma and grandpa live in the bedroom, sitting room, kitchenette on the main floor with full access the rest of the family home. The large coat rack kitchen and open space in the basement tells me this family had company A LOT, not just for pool parties but for big meals. Makes me wonder where they all are now, to they still gather together?

The mirrored storage in the office is for the bar glassware. The velvet wall covering helped with sound attenuation. The owner was likely a business owner since a truly dedicated office is adjacent to the main entry. Business could be conducted at home without disturbing the rest of the family. The room across from the office would be the formal living room. Guests that are not good friends likely were not invited beyond this space. Those Fisher-Price toys probably have some collector value. The custom metallic wallpaper to the basement lets you know you are entering a completely different environment from the living quarters above. The pink bath fixtures scream 50's while the foil wallpaper is 70's disco. Those baby strollers are high end and were very expensive back in the day. Very interesting home and well done video.

Hello Noah! The "clown pad" on the floor in the basement was a crib spindle-bumper. You put it down by the mattress, all along the wooden rails, so that the little ones moving around in the crib didn't bump their heads into the hard wood.
Just want to say that I love your "real estate tours", because you show details and fixtures, and the little, interesting things about each home. You don't just zip around with your camera and make us sea-sick. This house was very cool - that basement was massive! And the pool was really neat. It saddens me to know that so many of Canada's lovely homes are being torn down just to make room for something that is simply "cookie-cutter" and boring.
Not to alarm you, but I DID hear...well...voices...in this place. These voices didn't belong to you or your friend, either. They sounded like they belonged to an angry old man. I didn't note the timestamps, because I don't know how you feel about that sort of thing. Just know that an angry old man wasn't happy to see people traipsing around in what he still believed was "his house".
Happy New Year to you, and I look forward to more of your films.

It must not have been empty for long. Such a shame to demolish it. Wonder why so many pieces of furniture (some REALLY NICE) was left behind?
