Lynne deserved an award for her facial expressions! I don’t know how the builders didn’t keel over laughing when he says occasionally I doth venture south!
"See the match?
"Which one?"
"Dunno"
A conversation repeated in different forms all over the world literally Millions of times a day!
yes yes i saw the video too, believe it or not.
A sadly relatable conversation.
It had me at that opening line. Classic alan
Did you see that ludicrous display last night?
Lynne trying to keep it together when he says "cashback"
Thats so good 😂
I’ve been watching this for years and never noticed it. Thanks
Nice catch! I never noticed that before! 😂
Felicity Montagu (Lynne) is a very underrated and brilliant actress
"Let's be appalling!"
What a line.
@SavageArfad What do you think of the pedestrianisation of Norwich city centre?
Alan is soo uncomfortable round the ladies I'm sure he prefers Lady boys.!!
Screeching hahaha
Reminds me of Larry in Curb, “Shall we get down to the tawdry business (sic)”. 😂😂😂
This is brilliant. When middle class people try to “bond” with real skilled working people. It’s spot on!!!
Darren Grimmer yep spot on. I did a tiling job in Hertfordshire and the yuppy customer insisted on ‘drinks and nibbles’ at the end of the job(apparently thats a saying down there) , we got a glass of cheap champagne and finger food, we stuck around for half hour then gone. Obviously from a different world than us!
Middle class people don't work in your world?
#inverse snobbery
@@MrDavevo76 at least they made the effort. Sounds quite nice
@@MrDavevo76 Cashback!
david evans idk what ur moaning about she sounds nice lmao
‘You seen what I’ve done in the toilet?’
Alan’s reaction is priceless 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I would

"I'm not raver,I'm straight"
Gary Phillips it's great you can quote from videos.
@@NeptuneReturnz It's great you can repeat the same sentence every time someone types a quote.
😆
My favourite line from both series
Still laugh at this the same way I did when it first came out 😂😂 absolute genius comedy!
Love the way Alan points to the ‘Boss’ on his hat.
There are so so so many Alan Partridge's around every fricking corner in this beautiful land of ours ☺...
That's why he's so iconic! Everyone knows or has met an "Alan" :-D
None like THE Alan though!!
So true, Matt Hancock is having his own personal 'Alan' moment right now
I haven't met a true Alan yet. Can't wait. Or maybe it's me...
@@flyingpenandpaper6119 lol
Lynnne's face and the gurning just kills me 😂😂😂
Alan's best trait and possibly what makes him so funny is his wit, quick thinking and ability to stand his ground.
Not when the ex fuzz had a go at him from lynns Church
@@Flipplt he puts him in his place. if Im honest I need that now an then.
I think those stories are, kinda, best in the caravan
why dont we go in there now
@@Klimmilk-i2s grab her Lynn
My favourite bit is in another scene, when he mentions to the builders that his kids won't see him anymore. I've tried many times to describe why Coogan's delivery of that line is so funny but I just can't, it's impossible. There are too many subtle psychological things bundled up it, it's just funny in a way that's completely indefinable.
Yes, you're right. On the page it's just an ordinary statement. The way Coogan delivers it is masterly. Sort of putting a flippant brave face on what is essentially painful and sad.
"But they don't wanna seee meee!"
@@kriddz Back of the net!
Alan is a very selfish character, he's always out for himself. Even when he did call his son he usually had a motive, like being bored and wanting to go for a pint- not caring who with as he even asked the Currys and Shell garage employees too. The most painful part to him about his kids not wanting to see him is probably how that looks on him as a father, "celebrity" and how others would perceive it- in other words he probably doesn't really mind at all on a personal level which is why he can play off the fact they've abandoned him with a silly gesture. He probably finds it more embarrassing than upsetting, which is why he cloaks the sentence with a silly voice.
That's my psychoanalysis of it anyway 😋
@@whiskii Lovely stuff
Occasionally I dust venture south
And when I go south I gotta say it's like a breath of fresh air.
strangewayshere your quoting the clip is brilliant. Well done!
@@NeptuneReturnz Except it's "I dost venture south." ;-)
@@magazinekitchen nope, the closed captioning clearly states he "dust venture South." That makes getting a breath of fresh air even more important, to avoid an allergy flare-up.
@@QuadMochaMatti LOL!
Belting line.
With both series of this there is simply not a bad episode, nor even a bad scene in any episode. I think only The Office and maybe Fawlty Towers matches it in that respect.
It's better than either. Possibly behind only Blackadder
Agreed. You’ve listed my absolute favourite comedies - I’m Alan Partridge, Fawlty Towers, The Office... and I’d add Only Fools & Horses.
Short guy had just played Shaun Ryder opposite Coogan's Tony Wilson in 24HR Party People
@Mike Denton. Yes he did play Shaun Ryder.
God, never noticed all this time!
Felicity Montagu is a great actress. Her face at 3:20 is worth a thousand words.
This and her face when Alan goes to the hotel after his romp with Sonia.
Is she the actress who plays lynne.? If so ,she's brilliant.
3:21 Lyn's face LOL!
I love how unimpressed they seem with Sonja
Yeah, that IS the joke.... help me out mate!
Not worth insurring
Did you know she's only 33?
'Hello the builders'
Lynn's reaction @ 3:20... No need, for any lines, her face says it all! :-D
'See what I done in the toilet?'
It is as if every line is pure comedy gold !!!
Come on Sonja let's be appalling😂😂😂
Those builders look so bewildered whenever Alan speaks LOL !!
the funny thing is, in places like Kiev, that would actually be a joke.
I've had it so many times with middle class clients as I worked in construction and was a gardener.
They use stereotypical language to ' bond' they start swearing, boasting about how many pints they drunk the previous evening, or as in the video talk about football and worse of all start talking in an East London accent ( mockney) as they think it makes them appear ' hard'.
They think this is what defines the working class.
Absolutely cluless!
The delivery on "Why don't we go in there NOW?" is so perfect.
‘Occasionally, I dust venture South’ 😂😂😂
Stop getting bonding wrong!
kentuckycunctator Very clever mate! How did no-one else comment on your paraphrasing of the Bond DVD episode? I've NO idea...or should I say 'NOWT idea
Mine's a Guinness...
Alan's face at 0:29 - priceless! :))))))))))))))))))))
“CASHBACK!” Contextually even funnier than “JURASSIC PARK!” 😁
I love Alans veiled excitement/curiosity at all things toilet in the series
That final gag, I just realized Alan was actually taking a piss lol
I always thought he was putting a jimmy on.
@@SkepticalChimp Except that, ideally, he’ll have a shower before and afterwards. I think he’s just taking his pants off.
@@andrewkemp1882 "Before, and (ideally) afterwards". Like having one beforehand is vital, but afterwards doesn't really matter :D
Except he wasn't, just undressing as you can see he's constantly moving.
@@SPNKr16 Taking a leak, putting a condom on, struggling/taking his pants off...

He woz, SMELLY MAN
I love that bit
if your a fan and you havent heard the books , and the podcasts on audible , its probably his best material and there's enough to keep you going for years , i relisten to all of them , nothibg else out there comes close

A shower before and ideally afterwards.
Love that line. I’ve watched episode after episode must be dozens of times and is always funny.
@@neilmoore5387 yeah this show still makes me laugh

1:12 Lynn's actress trying not to laugh.
Felicity Montagu
Imagine waking up in the night SCREAMING! Cause that’s what happens
This is so like real life it’s great social commentary on men who come from different backgrounds
'They do it on purpose Lynn!'
Lynne's face at the 'guess who i'm going to make love to' comment XD
See the match?

HEAD OUT THE TOILET WINDOW'S GOLD.😂😂😂
At 3:21 I think Lynn's actually quietly thinking "Christ, it's my lucky day".
Nah, the whole joke is the she fancies him. Why else would she stick around the entire time
Haha, very funny story!
why don't we go in there NOW
Come on Sonya lets be appalling.
So many quotable lines in one small scene. We often use them in our interactions at home.
Just realised. Lynne is wearing her snazzy cardie from Valentine's night in series 1.
