I’ve not seen all these BB talks on gender, trans, etc but I will say that they’re greatly appreciated. If there’s anything that I do know, it’s that I don’t know a whole lot. My entrenched positions on these topics and people “different” than myself has softened significantly via BB. I’m grateful for the opportunity to learn, to hear more voices, their experiences. I may fit quite easily, seamlessly into a form that’s straightforward to Embody, others may not. Consciousnesses binds us all. ❤️

Regardless, trans rights should not trump women's rights or female biology and yet that is exactly what's happening.

"Paraphilia" is a polite word for sexual deviance or perversions. Blanchard has gotten a lot of flak over the years, even death threats, regarding his research, but he has never been debunked. It takes a lot of guts to be honest on this issue given the mental instability of the trans activists.

Really clarified some things for me. I'm female but I used to suffer from gender dysphoria which was GREATLY alleviated over years of therapy as an adult. But now they are pushing trans as an identity (and say all identities should be affirmed by society) as opposed to last resort treatment for gender dysphoria, which is why they're targeting children more, because they want children to "be themselves". They support the dysphoria, encourage it even. I don't think they'd let it be a disorder at all anymore if they could get insurance/governments to pay for the hormones and cosmetic surgery without it.

    • @benfrank8649
      @benfrank8649 5 років тому +26

I have gender dysphoria and am trying to deal with it without transition. I don't believe I would ever be satisfied with transition. I would always know that I'm not a woman like biologically. So I'm left desiring this thing that I know is impossible. It's like being stressed all the time about never going to the moon or time traveling or something. It's NUTS and I hate it, but here we are.
I believe that you are correct that some "treatments" and "acceptance" of trans identities can be counter effective in terms of treating dysphoria, it can exacerbate it. I think people can't develop a real treatment for it. So, it's easier to tell people to transition and ignore their issues long term. Throw them into a simplified bucket and forget about them.

I hope very much that we'll rid ourselves of this madness in time for significant research into therapy and therapeutic medicine to be done. It's abhorrent that the medical establishment would rather deflect the blowback by supporting affirmation, hormones, and surgery (often leaving broken families as well as trans widows in their wake), rather than having a backbone and investigating therapeutic tactics and medication that would resolve the dysphoria. It boggles the mind to be called "trans genocidal" for wanting children to somehow be able to work out their feelings in group therapy, or perhaps take a pill that corrects for whatever has gone astray, rather than have _healthy body parts permanently removed,_ followed by a life of sterility and health complications!

Orientation is biology, which is why I'm angry at Blanchard for allowing AGP to be considered an orientation because it's technically not. It's a paraphilia for straight men. These men used to be heavily screened out of the process for SRS, even hormone access and they didn't unalive themselves. They went home, irritated and feeling misunderstood etc etc but they were fine. I laugh that people are alarmed by the sheer number of these men over a massive age span but ladies, everything about us, from menstruation to the dress of 'femininity' is a fetish. There are clubs online where men even share videos from spy cams of us pooping in public loos.
Should we share intimate vulnerable spaces with a male engaged in a fetish, as a side character in his sexual gratification against our permission? Nooo. Don't bother continuing to try and gaslight me into it.

There are trans people who identify themselves within the 2 types that Blanchard describes. I don’t think they explain ALL feelings of dysphoria or desire for transition, but they clearly do describe 2 experiences that are very common. The fact that some trans don’t see themselves in those types doesn’t mean they don’t exist.

    • @joemama2419
      @joemama2419 Рік тому +2

It could be argued that perhaps their trans identity then stems from other sorts of trauma or psychological anomaly. I know for me I don’t exactly fall into either of the 2 types. But the fact that OCD is fueling my “thought” of being trans could be something that should be investigated. There is an obvious series of issues that must be addressed, we shouldn’t be quick to push damaging drugs and cut off our body parts. Instead time should be taken to sort this shit out. And embrace the individual in an insightful and loving manner.

Super interesting interview. Though, It was a little hard to follow sometimes because the language was a little too complex.
I really liked how logical the interview was. It’s had a lot of academic study behind it. I also liked that a lot of times he had no problem saying he didn’t know something. Those are the only kinds of people I trust! 😂
Only thing I would’ve changed is I would’ve also liked to hear his personal views related to where society is heading in relation to these issues. As someone so informed about this issue, I think he would’ve had a really well thought out and logical view of them. Especially the ones connected to sex. Like what is his thoughts on translesbians and their pressuring biological lesbian to sex? Is your sexual orientation connected to biological sex like gender critical people say or gender indentity like gender ideologist say? What does he think about transsexuals in sports? Or women shelters? Or change rooms? Or the transsexual movement in general? I’m curious...

I believe that autogynephiles develop strong gender disphoria and cross-gender identity simply because they tend to focus on their negative experiences being a man. If they succeed at it, then they will not desist even when they take testosterone blockers and have decreased libido. In my experience when I started taking antiandrogens I lost my motivation to transition, so I decided to stay a crossdresser.

The bottom line for me in terms of political ethics is, does the scientist actively argue for the discrimination agains ta certain group or cast an emotive judgement against a particular group? I can't see that Blanchard does any of these. He supports the right to sex change surgery for example and if he were truly "transphobic" he would be involved in some dubious psychotherapy to "heal" or "cure" it which is contemptible to be sure and usually involved with a particular conservative religious denomination. There is a serious discussion to be had about heterosexuality in terms of its connection to biology as well as socialization and we should have that discussion rather than have a taboo on it. At worst we might discover that the impulses to heterosexuality is a dominant one in our species in a scientific sense. Concomitant with that are those scientists who argue for a role for homosexuality and lesbianism in discussions of biology and nature but see it as a minority trait, though perfectly "healthy" and occurring in all or most known societies. This was Simon LeVay's argument though he is not in fashion anymore but i think he was onto something. But those conclusions are what you would get if you had a frank discussion of the matter. No amount of discussion will lead to more or any discrimination so the fear of free inquiry is a false and unnecessary fear. I also am not convinced that typology is itself always a bad thing. It is just classification. The problem comes with the misuse of classification. I am not saying all classification is neutral but I am saying that society needs classifications of all kinds and this certainly includes sexuality.

Hey Benjamin! Thanks for posting this. Your content is so refreshing.
Since Dr. Blanchard coined the term "Autogynephilia" I would like to let you and your viewers know that I have created and posted a 5 episode series on my UA-cam channel that covers all aspects of Autogynephilia.
The series is called "I Love My Autogynephilia". As you can tell from the title I have AGP and I do indeed love it. I talk about what Autogynephilia is, my life with Autogynephilia, resources for Autogynephiles, etc. The series is most definitely Pro-Autogynephilia. So much of the online content about AGP is hateful and ignorant (with the exception of your content of course). I felt that it was high time that someone with Autogynephilia finally step up and talk about it in a positive way and hopefully open doors in people's minds that will never close again.

What's worrisome is narcissistic activists who can only look at other non-hetero, questioning people as mini-versions of themselves. Self-obsessed people who build their self-worth projecting their own stories onto those with as-yet un-established identities, overwhelming them with certainties that they are totally the same and ought to take the same course of action to be happy.

What does this mean? Unless we totally upend the meanings of man and woman, nobody can transition from one to the other.
Are "man" and "woman" just feelings inside one's head? Or just the collection of "feminine" or "masculine" traits? Are butch lesbians who eschew all femininity men then? Many of them would revile that insinuation.

@@es8059 what exactly is the real meaning of being a man or woman. My friend was willing to have the surgery and become something he wasn't born as. I think he did really transition.

@@pathacker4963 That's my question. I am a gay man. When I was young I thought I would have to transition to be happy. Problem is that as I grew older I realized that being male, being a man is more than a feeling - it's a material, biological reality; same thing as being a woman. It's insulting to reduce either gender to a feeling or group of stereotypes. Plus, once any man or woman goes through puberty, their brains and neural pathways are changed irrevocably. We can't undo millions of years of evolution and sexual selection with a hormone prescription and surgery/surgeries. What it means to be a man or woman is, thankfully, much deeper than that.

45.52 No way that can be accurate. Any man knows full well that what his penis is doing, it's doing on its own accord. I'm pretty sure I heard somewhere that test has been made obsolete. I can't even finish listening to him now.

@@rz8773 Perhaps I misheard it. It is interesting that just the other day, on some podcast I can't remember now, this penile tumescents test was brought up again as accurate. I'm just remembering now that I once heard that soldiers would sometimes get erections during combat and that would cause a lot of confusion and suffering for them. I doubt that they are being turned on by that. Something else is going on. Anyway, too bad I misheard because I do respect him very much.

The Epoch of Benjamin - Chapter 22
With a heavy heart, Meghan Murphy climbed the bejeweled crystal staircase in the central alabaster spire of the FeministCurrent North Palace. Though she could destroy Benjamin Boyce with ease, the rules of feminism required she do so covertly, under the cover of a man's overt act. Even beyond sex, a wammin's greatest power is her illusion of helplessness, so to achieve her goal, she had to enlist JP, the Jacobin Patriarchy, as her champion. But first she must pass the scrutiny of the Male Feminist Lackeys' Three.
At step one hundred she encountered the cow lover Beto O'Rourke. He rose to challenge her privilege but she tossed him a quart of coconut yogurt. Beto was pleased. Dear cow you raise your hooves high with such tasty milk products! PASS!
At step two hundred she encountered the gay hate hoaxer Jussie Smollett. He rose to challenge her racism but she tossed him a pair of Nigerian bodybuilder white supremacists. Jussie bowed and remained bent over as the bodybuilders caressed his pantyhose. PASS!
By step three hundred her feet were suffering from her six inch stripper heels but Meghan identified as a wammin scorned and so nothing could stop her. At last she encountered Justin Trudeau, the worst of the male feminist lackeys. Trudeau arose to challenge her sexuality. Meghan exposed her breasts and sighed with pained tolerance as Trudeau mauled them as clumsily as a wammin's music festival. At last he was satisfied. Very nice. PASS!
    ---------------
Finally at the top of the ivory tower, Meghan approached the platinum throne of the Jacobin Patriarchy. JP was there, fussing over his application for a fellowship at Cambridge. The well-gnawed bones of a weasel were scattered around his feet. To capture his attention, Meghan produced a camera and microphone.
At last JP noticed her presence. "Speak the truth and engage with the world courageously!"
My God JP is such a pompous a$$, she thought. Meghan got right to the point. "My Lord, a man has refused to marry me. I want you to destroy him."
JP looked curious. "I'm not sure I understand you as a phenomena."
Meghan grew incensed. JP, he refused me! No man should EVER say no to a wammin!
JP smiled. "People are subject to forces beyond your easy control.
Can you bridge the huge cultural gap between you?"
Meghan struggled for control. No! He made love to me then rejected my proposal!
JP became stern as slow tears began to form. A man should live up to his responsibilities and marry a wammin, or else he is a MGTOW weasel.
Meghan rambled on. Benjamin claimed I was cruel to men online and brutal to my servants IRL.
JP's eyes cut through her. "Was he speaking the truth? And do you still wear makeup in the workplace?"
Tears now exploded from Meghan. Yes, my lord. Benjamin said he loved me but needed independence to pursue his study of transgender issues. He not only feared my bias but he used their filthy pronouns, my Lord! Pronouns!
JP bristled. "The negative feminine has taken him as surely as autogynephilia, then. Meghan, you need to ground your existence. You can find meaning through the sorrow of your life. Have you cleaned up your own nest?"
Meghan was screaming. JP, I swear by all that is holy I will drop all four nuclear reactors into the fire and release the dead upon all the Earth if you do not punish Benjamin Boyce!
JP considered, then sighed. "As you wish. I will free the Bulldyke of Heaven upon this Benjamin Boyce. She can act as a powerful streak of anti-humanity. She is much like you in that way, daughter."
Meghan's feminist rage turned to joy, first as jazz hands, and then to clapping.
    Benjamin was doomed.

Sorry, but this guy is a charlatan. The "real life test" was cruel and absurd. It was not testing how someone felt, it was testing if they can survive the onslaught of societal pressure and that would be dependant a lot on the local situation and secondary sex characteristics, which, without HRT help and surgeries were pretty much a dice roll. What a cruel approach to "helping" people... Shame, shame, shame...
