Brother make sure that you PAY YOURSELF FIRST. every paycheck from work make sure that 15 percent goes into saving if you can afford more do it but at least 10 percent minimum. It may seem like a lot but when you factor in the junk food you buy or games or whatever wants that you spend your money on, it's chump change. I believe in you brother. Don't get a gf just work on treating yourself first. By the year's end with hard work and patience you will have what you want. It's just good practice anyhow. Let this tip (lol) carry with you your entire life.

I've been riding over 35 years and have ridden almost every bike imaginable, since I used to run a repair service. My days of supersports are over because old man bones and supersports don't mix. However, my biggest bike is an 850 (Tracer 900 GT). After a certain point, the power becomes moot. The Yamaha triple gives me the torque rush, and it can double any speed limit in the US (with an ECU flash), so why would I need any more?
I found it was WAY more fun to show up on an "old man bike," and run that thing through the twisties as fast or faster than most of the dudes on supersports. Developing the ability to push the machine you have to its limits is much more fun than just "buying speed."
To me, anyway.
Too right mechanical brother. I miss stretching corner speeds out to the limit on my Honda VTR250 to keep up with my bigger road buddys bikes. Or the squating roller coaster feeling the VT750 DC has accelerating out of the corners. Bike specific qualities that I've only felt on the smaller bikes. Thanks for your moto service brother :-)
I absolutely agree. I love the triple engines for their balance of power and torque. After going to a R1200ST because I was doing a lot of long distance rides, I'm looking to get a MT-09 to fit a broader spectrum.
Maybe I'm just too old to be able to react to a pothole at triple digit speeds : ) Of course if you want to be realistic, very few people can.

I like your point of view! Wish one day I can say that about myself. currently I am riding a Suzuki xf 650 and even it does not have lots of power by modern motorcycle standards, it is still very very powerful compared to how much power I have as a physical human beeing. When I ride it, I feel like a superhero that can go anywhere. I love my bike.
Being able to ride the wheels off a 1000 is pretty impressive too. Enjoy what you have but don't ever think you're better than someone else just because you're older or ride more reasonable machinery. Superior skills are still superior skills.
The main reason for having a 1000 versus the 600 is more down low torque. On the 600 you need to wring them out to get into the meat of the power, with the 1000, they pull from right off the bottom. Don’t get me wrong, i have owned a 600, and now i ride a 1000. After owning both, i enjoy having more grunt. Either will comfortably run at 80 all day long, but the liter bike will do it at a lower rpm. As for the weight difference, the added weight of the 1000 is actually more comfortable on the highway, the nimbleness of the 600 is a bit better in the twisties. Just my own observations from having had both.
Patrick Callahan I prefer the opposite, it’s more fun being able to use more of the 600 more of the time. But power wheelies are pretty awesome!

Rata 4U, lol, I think that might be a bit of hyperbole, but it also brings up a good point! The reason so many of us older (or should I say more seasoned riders) suggest starting out on smaller displacement machines, is so that you develop the skills for riding before graduating to a more powerful bike. The only time you really experience that kind of throttle response you described is with these new RBW systems, and that seems to be true of so many of them (MT 09, GSX-S 1000) but it’s something you get used to.
Except it’s no longer made, hopefully they will create the new 765 Daytona that Moto 2 will get!
The low down torque is amazing to have in the city or even on the highway for a quick burst of speed in 6th gear at 4500rpm to get around traffic. Another great advantage of a 1k is the taller gearing for less frequent gear changes. My 2015 ZX10R hits 105mph in 1st so if you truly wanted to you never have to hit 2nd anywhere but at 70mph in 6th on the highway I'm at 5k rpm and getting 47mpg. As to the more nimble lightweight argument the ZX comes in at 434lbs with the Brock's exhaust and cat delete so on average only 15-20lbs more than the 600cc class and at that difference you can't even tell it's there. By far the best thing about new super bikes are the electronics. Even in 1st gear at 7k snapping the throttle back my bike won't wheelie or spin the rear in the rain. Litre bikes aren't the untamable monsters they used to be ten years ago.

I see all these people justifying their reasons for the bike they ride. Honestly even a 600 isnt practical so why squabble pointlessly? We ride bikes because we are passionate about them not because of practicality. You want to be practical go buy a hybrid man. I love riding my insanely crazy R1 thanks.
I'm not saying it's a bad thing to own an overkill 1000. I think they are great bikes and I even said later in the video that I actually really like the new CBR1000RR (and S1K). If my 600 got stolen or broke then I would consider a 1000 just for the experience alone.

Yes. I was wondering when that would come up. I wasn't saying all 600's are useless, just there's not much of a point in buying one brand new. When for an extra $2,000 you can get a liter bike that has all the technology, holds it's value better, and has additional power. Since I already own a 600 (which I bought used) I don't see a point in "upgrading" there's really no reason to. The extra power isn't needed and i'd rather hold onto my money and maybe buy something else like another dirt bike or a jetski (lol). If I were buying new though, a 1000 would be my choice, maybe a 750.

you made some really good points there. I recently sold my '09 CBR600RR for an FZ-09. not much top end speed but lots of torque down low and it seems to fit my riding style more than the CBR did.
Liter bikes used to be something that I really wanted but with 600's being as powerful as they are now, there isn't much sense in upgrading. True, liter bikes are something you can get used to but they are really unforgiving with mistakes, which we all make. Also, great montage, really shows your growth as a video creator. Keep them coming!

Once thought I should "upgrade" to a superbike but... I've since realized I'm really, really happy with my Honda 919. Just gonna slap a windscreen on it for the highway. I've had this bike almost 3 years now and only recently have I become comfortable with the power. First instinct was to want MORE POWER lol but I'm realizing I should just focus on getting really good with this bike. Maybe try a track day or something. I love wringing out 1st and 2nd to get up to like 90 on an onramp -- if I were to do that on a 1000 I think I would go to jail

For me finding a bike that make me happy is very hard lol. I had 15 bikes (some include the Triumph Daytona 675R, S1000R, Ducati StreetFighter, Superduke 1290 R and many others) in the last 5 years and none of them did it for me, not even close. The search continues...

I’m with ya! I moved down to a 600 from a 1k. It’s just more fun. You can twist the throttle with a more confidence and still feel in control. On the 1k I found my self holding back and a little scary at times. Too much bike for my style of riding.
Just bought my first 1000, went from a street triple to an R1. I do miss how the bike flicked from side to side, but as a slightly bigger guy, 6ft2, 95kgs, I don’t really feel the extra weight that much, That power though, can’t use half of it on the street, but I’m glad I’ve got it👌🏽

What size would you consider a good starter bike? I've riden dirt bikes but not street bikes.

Great question. I think these bikes can make it to 100k miles and maybe more. You can get a used engine off ebay for about $1500. A rebuild would be fun but complicated. My bike has 38k miles and I checked the valve clearances a few months ago and they still needed no adjustment.
600 vs 1000 is purely preference to the rider when it comes to street riding, neither are beginner or intermediate bikes on street or track. Both are typically within 30lbs of each other and with top speeds within 20 mph of each other. Throttle control and features are so similar as to be the same, and can be modified. I ride 1000s because after test riding many of both I liked the feel of it better, I like the power and typically gear them lower with faster throttles simply because I like knife edge responses, even when touring which I do with it as well. At legal speeds both can be modified to ride almost the same, so again, it's all preference for a rider that can handle either one.
I basically sold my 03' 600rr to pay for school - and 3 years after I saw a good price from a private seller for a 06' 1000rr with 2000km - wasn't sure what to expect but I love it - wouldn't go back..

I worked at a company and many of us rode bikes to work. One guy bought a new 600. The next two bought similar sized bikes. The four bought a R1. The other 3 traded their bikes back in for liter bikes. Not to be out done. The supervisor bought a Hayabusa. Every one owned a different make. Just funny.

When does one "need" the power of a 1,000 off of a racetrack? How much time is spent on a racetrack compared to regular street riding?
I had a Kawi 650 in NYC. Never got it past 2nd gear because of the traffic, therefore, not much fun to ride. Now I've a 2018 Kawasaki Ninja 400 ABS KRT Edition (bought it as a 74th birthday present -in 7 days - for myself and have , 251 miles on it already) - it rocks because I can enjoy shifting through all 6 gears, and since it can go up to 130 mph, it's way more than I'd ever need, or want. Plus, one has to admit, it's GORGEOUS!
More fun to ride a "slow" bike fast than a "fast" bike slow.

I used to think I would never want more than a 600. Then after almost killing myself and definitely killing my bike, I got a 954rr. Super light for it's time. Fun wheelie bike and great in the turns. After someone decided to rear end me I went with the next logical decision and got a full on liter bike. I couldn't see myself stepping back to 600cc power and torque.

As much as I love my CBR600RR and agree with pretty much everything stated. I grab they keys to my RSV4 RF every time. Just as nimble in the twisties, top notch handling and ten times the bike from brakes to suspension. People say oh 600’s are so nimble. So are the brand new litre bikes. Those Aprilias have outstanding control in the twisties and power to back it up. My CBR 600RR looks slightly bigger than my RSV4 too when next to each other and it’s actually thinner than my 600RR. Long story short. Get the bike you want.
Yep, I totally agree. My RSV4 is a lot more nimble than my R6 was. The turn-in takes a lot less effort, and it steers faster.
I have 09 cbr600rr, ridden lots of frends 1000 cc bikes, and 600 can't even compare. Litre bikes are whole new level, especially new ones. That's why they don't even make 600 cc anymore, except maybe couple of brands.

I’ve had both and I am now way more in tune with the r1. It feels way more solid on the highway and I’m not winding it out as much lol. I do love both and they have their own purposes
I owned a 2005 CBR600RR... I upgraded to an '08 CBR1000RR and I kind of missed the 600... because for a moment in time I had both sitting side by side in the garage and when I hopped on the 600 I felt like it was fare more nimble and in my control, I actually completely relate to what you're saying in this video. I did end up selling the 600 but if I could get a time machine I'd never bother with the 1000
I am getting a Honda CBR1000RR on Friday . I am trading my CBR650F for it so I will let you know how it goes. But I agree the CBR600RR has all the power that you need.

I ride an RSV4. Definitely look into those. I mean, from your video about it, it seems like you know how great they are. But let me say, they REALLY are.
Oh, an RSV4 is a whole different story my friend. Those are simply amazing bikes. I heavily considered the Tuono before getting my VFR.
I'm only looking at 1000cc's for my next bike since 75% of my riding is done on tracks. My 600 is great and all but it's lacking on straights on the track. Plus the new panigale V4's are just drop dead gorgeous and I can't wait to get mine. If I was mostly a street rider I would have just stuck with my r3 because even that can get illegal quick.
If I didn't already have my 600 then I would consider maybe getting a 1000. But I just see no need to "upgrade". The V4 panigale is something special though ;)

Most ppl who ride 1000cc on track can't ride the wheels off a 600, when you get every ounce of performance then it makes sense to upgrade.

I would still get a 1000cc over a 600cc i'm done with having to ring the neck to get some power. Almost like 2 strokes these 600's no bad thing i still love a 2 stroke but they have there place
During my club racing days I have fond memories of riding around larger displacement bikes during open practice sessions. They were faster down the straights but I would be able to break much later and ride around the outside of them carrying way more cornering speed. Cornering Speed > straight line speed. Anyone can twist a throttle in a straight line. JMHO

Shekar Wali I just got mine yesterday (2019 1000rr). My last one was a 09 Repsol 1000rr. The new one is so smooth and fun, and feels lighter than anything I’ve ridden. Hard to explain to someone how good these bikes feel.

Had a 17 s1000rr I let go because my commute was about 75% of my ownership. I took it to the track once and spent all day in 3rd and I felt like I was wasting the bike,maintenance,tires and risk. Not to mention paying $190 a month to commute is pretty dumb. Coming from a 650 I enjoyed working for my horsepower and keeping up with my friends. I learned to grind pegs on the 650 on the street. Still,the perimeters for learning a 1000cc let alone these hyper bikes is staggering. As a person who loves to work for my horsepower I’d rather have a 300 when I’m not trying to be egotist. To this day my dream bike is still a 600rr and I could afford more,but why. 600s are reliable platform,light,nimble, and proven similar to a Toyota Corollas using the same engine with minor changes and different bodies throughout development. Continuing,most of all I love to work for my horsepower and have a reason to flick through the gearbox. I love to build torque and use all my engines powerband. I love when people underestimate the bike you rides and you blow there helmets off simply by leaning into a corner carrying nothing but you speed and confidence .
My favourite bike is still an RGV 250. You have to work hard to get the best out of it. Too many people point and shoot and have lost or never found the art of cornering. That's where I get my fun:) Ahhh I love the old 2 strokes!
Karl Walters yup,many never caught themselves leaned over feeling the bike sticking to the pavement,planted at 45+ degrees. That is a wonderful feeling to become aware of what your bike mid turn and actually feel the ride.

I was riding my VFR today and I just love that damn bike. The VFR is a better bike than the CBR in my opinion. I just have way too much of a sentimental attraction towards my 600.

I went from a 2005 600rr to a 2006 1000rr. Cost is essentially the same except for the 190 rear tire which is just a bit more expensive. Heck even fuel cost is the same. It might be a different story for a new 1000 though ?
Insurance on my '09 R1 is cheaper than the insurance on my '13 636. Might be due to the 636 being newer though.
Liability insurance is supposed to only be based on the rider/driver, but insurance companies do lie about that... Engine size sometimes matters but it seems the truth is either the vehicle purpose as designed, such as racing, touring, commuter, cruiser, or possibly based on statistics of the previous similar models. This did surprise the reps at several of the major insurance companies, as they also thought liability was only tied to driver experience/history. In my 30s my 1000 is about $130/yr and my 1400 is $80/yr. My last 1800 cruiser was $200 in my 20s and would probably be $50/yr now. Basically it's all a scam lol... Full coverage on a 600 or a 1000 is enough to purchase the bike again in 3 years typically, an amount that allows insurance companies to make money even if they pay out a totaled bike claim

I've owned 600's and 1000"s. Theres pros and cons to both. The thing is that 600s just aren't that exciting to ride unless you're above 10,000 rpm. Crack the throttle at 10000 on a 600 and it still doesnt compare to doing the same on a 1000 at half the rpm. They're completely different experiences. My friend had a Ducati 848 that I could beat every time with my 600 at the dragstrip but if i got to choose which bike to ride on the street i would pick the 848 because it FEELS faster even though it's not. Torque changes the whole riding experience. If we were on a track i would choose my 600 over the 848 but on the street having that torque there all the time means more. You dont have to hit ridiculous speeds to feel like you're where the bike wants to be. It's just more fun not having to rev the shit out of your bike. And the weight difference between 1000 and 600 isnt enough to make much of a difference. Theres little bikes that weigh less than 600s. Still it's all personal preference. If you enjoy shifting alot and feeling like you're making the bike work more then 600 is for you. If you want a bike that feels like it will lift the front wheel on command or like short shifting then get a 1000. Both are great bikes just different riding experiences. 600s near redline sound better too. (Same engine config)
What would your reasons for a cbr1000rr be versus lets say a zx10, r1 or gsxr 1000? Honda reliability isn't much off from those other brands right?
Honda had issues with false neutrals in their SP2 CBR1000RR, the R1 also had a recall for their transmission as well. All the bikes are pretty reliable though. I'm not a huge fan of the ninja, or r1 since they are so aggressive. I think the gsxr and cbr are pretty cool though.
I sat on a CBR 1000rr on the showroom floor and damn it seemed so damn small! maybe you can film a test ride?

I upgraded to a 750, and then I realized a 1000 would just be non sense. Who cares about going on a strait line fast. If I wanted that, I'd do it in the comfort of a car. Bikes are supposed to be about having fun, and leaning it over is one of the most fun parts. Why sacrifice that for a more powerful and heavier engine? It's like a v8 mustang compared to a 4 cyl Subaru. The feeling is like flying a Jumbo jet as compared to a fighter jet. Different strokes for different folks.

Jaskaran Toor absolutely not, I started on a 04 F4i and it was a great starter bike in my opinion, great power and not too much. It’ll be able to keep you satisfied for a long time

It's one thing if you think 1000cc motorcycles have too much power. That is OK. But you also say that you believe that the suspension feels better on the 600cc because of the weight reduction...?? I think what +HeroRR means to say in this m-vlog is; HeroRR rides a 600cc because it's easier than riding a 1000cc(and cheaper)...
I can kinda agree a 1000cc can be a lot for the streets power wise...But the 600rr only weighs like 20 lbs lighter than the 1000cc. You will not notice 20 lbs when street riding. On a track sure. So weight wise you should not have not argument... also most 1000cc's will not make the power that production factory claims. The 2013 Honda CBR1000rr only makes maybe 150hp stock, with an intake, exhaust, race fuel, tune, and meticulous replacement of those mods when the parts expire; then maybe you will have a motorcycle that is constantly pushing 170 horsepower. Just sayin! The horsepower argument is just absurd anyways because plenty of vehicles out there are making 5-8 times the amount of horsepower your bike has in public streets! Some of which will do over 200 mphs easily. where as Most, if not all, liter bikes will not do 200 mphs off the show room floor. does that make high horsepower illegal instantly because its fast? Heck no! Tbh to compare a 600 to a 1000 is like comparing a walmart training wheels bike to a fully custom mountain bike!?!?!
I never said the 600 has better suspension. I just like the handling characteristic more. A 600 dives into corners fast and I like that. Also my 600 only weighs 400 lbs, The only 1000 that comes close to that (that is an inline 4) is the brand new cbr1000rr which I talk about later on in the video.
You should see 650ib freak out riding an r6 on a track he loved it compared to his new R1. The nimbleness gave him so much more confidence, races are won in the corners. Also maybe you rode some dead 600’s if you think that they are like crappy tricycles compared to mountain bikes / liter bikes man lol jeez.

I like as much torque as I can get. I have had over 75 motorcycles and rode Busa's and Zx14's until I was 58 years old, I also had a B-King that I wish I still had.
Now I have to listen to old farts like me talk about how well their cruiser handles and stops, they have no idea how well a motorcycle can truly handle.
When I moved to cruiser types of MC's I felt insecure for a long time knowing it in no way handled like what I was used to...
I ride a Valkyrie, 100HP and 100 foot lbs. of torque and it feels slow to me, but it is comfortable.
Bass Player, I’m like you, I’m 63 and I still ride my 1000cc Street Fighter. I just can’t warm up to the cruisers after riding sport bikes and dirt bikes all my life.
Meanwhile some of those old farts keep up with 600 sport bikes, and litre bikes too. My step-father told me a story about the time he rode with a bunch of goldwings with his litre ninja, the goldwings were constantly at 200kmh and he couldn't keep up with them because they were just that much better at driving. There's definitely a difference in handling between a cruiser and supersport, but as the saying goes: "The rider makes all the difference, not the bike." or something along the lines of that.
If they do the 600 rider is a noob, I had a gold wing and they do not have the lean angle. None of those cruisers do, otherwise we would see them in MotoGp

I'm going to have to keep my answer vague for privacy reasons and just say I work in the Technology Industry. I'm not rich, I do have some disposable income though, I save a lot of my money (believe it or not haha). But the reason why I can afford so many bikes is because I buy used. all my bikes combined cost about the same as a brand new 600. I'd rather have 3-4 used bikes than 1 brand new one :)
I too aspire to be something like this after 5 years or so when I complete my Engineering degree. Save money, invest in mutual Funds, etc.. and buy bikes......Yeahhh...

After having done close to 100K clicks on an R1, S1000RR, 10R, etc... it is not easy for me to ride a 600.
And the newer litre class bikes are really nimble and compact.
1000cc bike is way more comfortable on the highway
A cruiser with at least 900 cc is even more comfortable.

Your bike is perfect for street or track. I'm 56 & rode a 750 for yrs on street & track, I never felt like I needed more power & loved that bike but now I'm riding a Sportser on street & am loving the comfort & it is still fun to ride in the twisties.
I'd get a 600 and a 1000. Then again if it were fully up to me and not my bank account I'd have every bike.

That '06-'07 1000RR is one of the best CBR's ever and I can flick mine like any 600 I've ever ridden. I'm shocked that bike turned you off, and am curious how it felt to you that made it feel too big or heavy or whatever?
