BUT, this may only work when you use space plane tail wings for the main wings

It contains everything needed for a mobile sustainable science research base, using uks life support. It has a boom on the nose of the mk3 cockpit, that projects a heat shield away from the mk3 cockpit and prevents explosions. I'm thinking of downloading some realistic aerodynamic mod for more challenges
I'm just speculating because I don't really know but, surely when you couldn't lift up on the scaffolding it's because you couldn't nose up because the flaps on a plane like that are meant to push down so by having flaps in front of the wheels means you cant push the tail down and raise the nose causing it to lift
I just made a plane that takes 15sec to go 1500MS then it blows up from heat. I also spent only 10-20min building the thing, it’s also pretty maneuverable, until you pull up it shreds itself. So I wanted to make a SSO with that design and get some ideas from videos. And wow 😮 your plane is INSANE.
If you want to do the challenege for real, the plane was basically a rocket with too little fuel to reach orbit. It was dropped from the wing of a bomber at around 30,000 feet (What's that, like, 6km?) and then the plane rocketed up and away.
With the X-15 they attached the Spaceplane to a B-52 bomber since it couldn’t take off on its own. Once high enough, they would decouple the X-15 and start up the engine, darting through the thin atmosphere, going into space.
I made a plane that travelled almost as fast as that. It was more stable, lighter, it did not need to go suborbital, it had capacity for crew, it was made only with stock parts (it didn’t use mods.). and it didn’t require all those parts. The only diference is that it was bigger and a Little fragile. The one you built was more resistent and smaller.
The way the X-15 works, is it works on a rocket engine, because the heights it flies at, there is not enough air to use the engine on the Lockheed "blackbird" SR71
It's easier to assemble a tiny flying wing plane with one whisplash engine. It can easily reach mach 3 and fly more than half Kerbin depending on the design.
the X-15 has small Wings because it's essentially a rocket on its side. it can't fly at lower speeds and has to be carried by a larger plane and then thrown out and fired off
That island he passed 3rd try has a base on it. I know because i had a kerbal swim to it on 4 speed for a night and a weekday. Weighted it with quarters, got home, guy was right next to the big island.
I am an aviation geek and I know that NASA did this by using 97% titanium and 2% stainless steel and 1% other heat resistance material thus allowing it to take the heat and not explode. And for the engine that allows it to reach those kinds of speed they used the XLR99. Now they used one you are using like 4.
Well, interesting. Getting fast is not the problem in KSP. Evoiding explosions through heat, rapid aircraft movements or the Kraken are a different story though. I built a Blackbird-like plane which had a HUGE turning radius, but was capable of flying almost 2.000m/s just before leaving atmosphere, just by using TweakScale with stock jet engines and plane parts. It had two cruise missiles on board through BDArmory, but that's a totally different story...
The x15 is launched from another airplane that carried it to the upper atmosphere and launched from it fully fueled, if you're wondering how they achieved that speed
The x 15 is considered a rocket because of how fast it goes. And the wings are small because it doesn't need to have big wings to create lift because it's carried on another plane mostly a bomber
The original x-15 was deployed off a plane giving it ahead start by already having a lot velocity and speed,so if you deployed your jet off a plane it would have probably reached the wanted speed
When you were at the runway, it didn't take off because the wheels were behind the flaps. You could've fixed that issue if you added wings to the nose of the aircraft.
I love how he completely disregards vertical stabilizers, but wonders why the craft flips around.. This is just hilarious!

With a single whiplash you can go over 1500 m/s in low atmosphere without exploding (just barely however)
how the f do u only have 73.2 k subs
Hubert Kam oh ok I didn’t know, thanks
They used scramjets in the real thing
maybe he could get a scramjet mod
You should try it again
:)
This was the video that got me into KSP. Thank you, wherever you are now.
The X-15 flew that speed at over 30 km in fact. It's highest recorded flight was 108 km, and the pilot received astronaut wings for the flight
...is it bad or weird that I got up to 3,500 M/s with stock parts?...without using rockets.
+Vent Aran Did you use Rapier?
.
minh khang tran a combination of rapier and some ram jet engines
Yeah, that engine is really strong. I easily gone to 2000 m/s before it flame out.
+Vent Aran how the hell did you not burn up
@3:32 initial D car in the background
you dont really kniw how the game works huh?
+Frederik Damlund I know the basics or at least what I would consider basics. Nothing more, nothing less.
I made a plain that went 1350 meters a second with stock parts. Probably broke ksp Physics. I wasn’t able to do it again.
"Ohhh...Oh I'm a penis.." I can't even XD
...
you should've name it the X-69
nah bruh he woulda gon to *jail*
I’ve been faster, I went 3200 m/s equivalent to 7,158 mph
Wait 5 years and Mach 5 or more is real
HalfEYE: I'm smart. I have a brain.
Me: I didn't know
If you want to do the challenege for real, the plane was basically a rocket with too little fuel to reach orbit.
The X - 15 flew at an altitude between 180,000 ft and 250,000 ft depending on the profile of the mission and the tests being performed.
I made a plane that travelled almost as fast as that. It was more stable, lighter, it did not need to go suborbital, it had capacity for crew, it was made only with stock parts (it didn’t use mods.). and it didn’t require all those parts. The only diference is that it was bigger and a Little fragile. The one you built was more resistent and smaller.
and you are correct. their altitude was 40-50,000 feet. They hit 2020 metres per second bc of the low air resistance
OPT Ramjet, on a tiny craft i called 'The Flying Pig' Needed a carrier wing to reach high enough launch speed, but maxed out at 2237 m/s, 5000 mph
The x15 is launched from another airplane that carried it to the upper atmosphere and launched from it fully fueled, if you're wondering how they achieved that speed
he did the wrong plane yet did a pretty awesome job at the plane. the new speed holder is the x-43a almost at 7000 mph nearing mach 10
The X15 a couple times actually did exit the earth’s atmosphere
The x 15 is considered a rocket because of how fast it goes. And the wings are small because it doesn't need to have big wings to create lift because it's carried on another plane mostly a bomber
The original x-15 was deployed off a plane giving it ahead start by already having a lot velocity and speed,so if you deployed your jet off a plane it would have probably reached the wanted speed
So funny i thought you had it at 19:39 you then go to turn the engines off and the plane explodes! Classic! so funny!
22:50 “Huston lawn dart status achieved.”
When you were at the runway, it didn't take off because the wheels were behind the flaps. You could've fixed that issue if you added wings to the nose of the aircraft.
