hi! physicist here, while this could be considered a particle accelerator, I think it would be more accurate to consider it a variant of the cyclotron due to the spiraling nature of it, and the intent to release a 'beam' of 'particles' from a specific point
It would be quite neat if dispensers could endlessly drop minecarts onto the track from 2 opposing points with the intent to make them all collide & search for what makes iron nuggets

The raining cows thing reminds me of when I gave a bunch of chickens infinite levitation. Eggs just start falling from the sky at absurd rates. It was a journey to kill them, but I figured out that /kill @e[type=minecraft:chicken, distance=100..1000000] worked pretty well

I used to use the dimensional doors mod to make a "stacked world" so the nether was deeeeeep under the world like terraria, and there was space above the overworld, the aether above that. end under the nether we made a 1-block tube that you could jump and fall through from the aether all the way to the end lmao

Normally I'm part of the group where anything above 75 FPS is just "wasted" power. This thing would be an exception, here 144 FPS would actually be helpful. And 4:00 shows that this isn't a particle accelerator, it's an unconventional artillery cannon xD It just needs TNT carts that have an impact fuse, because I think the flight time is far beyond the normal fuse time.
In most games yeah it is wasted power, that's why there's FPS limiters. But the issue is it decreases latency since if the monitor gets the last frame instead of the current one then it's less desynced.
if you do not want to waste performance just set it like 20 to 30 fps above ur monitors refresh rate. it wille be the most smooth with basically no delay and no performance will be wasted
It depends on your monitor. 480hz really feels and looks insanely incredible, even better than 240hz. But on the other hand 8K tvs I saw from a tradeshow you can barely see the difference. That is what I would consider "a waste of power," not 480fps on a 480hz monitor. 480fps on a 60hz monitor would really be a waste of power though
i’m sorry but people who say this just don’t have good monitors, higher fps always feels SIGNIFICANTLY better to look at to the point where it becomes hard to play anything below 120. I guess the difference becomes less noticeable past 360 but “60 fps is king crowd” is just missing out
it could change traps forever… it could be a trap via changing the minecart into a tnt one, or you could trap your friend in the minecart that leads to this particle accelerator. this is the best minecraft vid so far.. good job!
This brings me back to my youth, as old as that makes me sound. Just a kid, having a blast being creative in one of the greatest games ever created. Also loved when he said "Holy cow" and you could hear in the brief pause that he realized the "dad joke" levels of what he had just said. Excellent video!

Just to let anyone know that wants to build this it only works if u build it while facing west or south. If its not launching in the correct direction just rotate the launcher part 180 degrees and it should work. Build the small thing to make sure it works before building the whole thing. Hope this helps.

Not really, human eyes capture 60 fps so theoretically you would only need to move out of the way of someone line of sight in the short time frame between the human eyes capture rate

This would be a super fun way to travel around a map. If the speed/distance can be consistent, you could make diffirent entry and exit points in the system to send you to different spots
2:10. There is one. Minecarts have a crude wind resistence mechanic. Saw a vid on it sometime ago where someone computed maximum speed. It was 700 or something. Do not remember.

This is in the new snapshot and they added a gamerule command where you can make minecarts faster now

2:10. There is one. Minecarts have a crude wind resistence mechanic. Saw a vid on it sometime ago where someone computed maximum speed. It was 700 or something. Do not remember.
So, the same game that has floating blocks, has wind resistance? I don't think Mojang care about wind resistance
