I am shocked this video is not at 1M views. I have been looking at rigging and animation videos for the past 3 days and yours is BY FAR the best among the bunch. Clear explanations. Great advice. Just fantastic. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Thumbed and subbed!!!
You are a real teacher! Simple and clean. I save this video to watch later again. I search a TONS of sites and videos on the internet about this topic but I never found something like this. keep teaching... Thanks a lot!
I'm so glad I found this tutorial. Hands-on tutorial and engaging your viewers with homework is a great way to learn. Thank you for putting this tutorial together.
By Jove, this is gold! I've been struggling with rigging ever since I discovered rigging, but this is the first time it all makes sense. Very well explained, many thanks.
Very nice tutorial. Rotation of the bones in relation to targets is a subtly. In 2.79 symetterize decided to rotate a leg 180 degrees. The mannequin survived surgery and is doing fine.
If after hooking up the leg target your knee is bending in a weird way, go back into edit mode and use CTRL-R on the leg bones. My knee was pointing in the opposite direction, so i rotated my bones 180 degrees and that worked for me.
Really helpfull, I just started to rig my first character in blender (a Primarys Intercessor Space Marine from Warhammer 40k) and of course i run into many problems (with loose parts, geometry issues, some parts not moving at all...) that i then figured out how to solve thanks to this tutorial. Everyone out there seems to go directly to the automatic functions without making even quick and easy ways to do the manual part (weight paint and vertex groups). The model i started with is a complex one, but that actually helps if you want to learn fast (but with a lot of patience).
This video deserves a million likes! Best one I’ve seen yet on UA-cam and I’ve been searching for hours! I can’t explain how much you helped I was starting to get unmotivated so thank you sooo much
Thank you Pixxo 3d. I finally did it. I could not believe. After Several youtube videos yours is clean and Understandable. I have no school. but with youtube and You. I found school to go🤓🤓🤓
Ctrl+shift+C might not work with AMD gpu because of driver key bindings - You need to check in the adrenalin software and change or disable these bindings.
Since "generation has thrown an exception: list index out of range". and im looking video on yutube and to find a solution to the problem, and I thought about creating it manually. and I found your video which really really helped my problem. THANK YOU SO MUCHHHHH I REALLY APPRECIATE IT😍😍🤩🤩🤩🤩
Amazing and very professional and fun at the same time! You explain this better than me, explaining a nitwit where the light goes when you close the fridge door! .. (at least what they told me...)
thank you so much for this! i feel like every other tutorial is using rigify, which seems like a great tool but i've been trying to find a video that will teach me the fundamentals so i can use rigify as a tool rather than as a crutch. this is exactly what i was looking for, thanks!
This was so well explained, my god this is the best video around that explains very good any necesary thing we need to know about riging thankyou, this will make my work even better!
anyone doing custom mesh and having his bones affect other parts or deform things like cheese, you should go into weight paint and check the paint of every bone (for me it's alt+ left mouse) and substract or add however yxou see fit like he did at the end of the video.
I don't think you have to first select Disconnect Bone and then Clear Parent. Just selecting Clear Parent also disconnects it (it can't be connected without a parent). You can see this in the Bone Properties Relations settings.
That was amazing! Had many problems before but it finally worked!! Thank you so much! Sadly the automatic weight paint didn't work :( but that's probably due to the character I'm using.
Something that happened when I was doing the leg target thing, when I put the Pole Angle at 90° the leg bent the wrong way. But putting the Pole Angle at -90° fixed that. I don't know if I did something wrong or if Blender has changed something in the year this video has been out but something others may need to keep in mind.
Shift+ctrl+c or ctrl+shift+c doesn't seem to work anymore(blender 3.4.1). Although ik s can be added through bone constraints properties menu, it doesn't behave the same as in video. Couldn't make the pole target bones behave...
Not sure if you're still having this issue, but check to see if either on your Geforce Nvidia software or AMD Software Adrenaline have hotkeys enabled. AMD has a tab specifically labeled hotkeys when you click on the settings gear. Disable the hotkeys there and restart Blender.
@@Pabzooloo I say the same, I didn't even know I even had the AMD software in my PC. I disabled the hotkeys and it worked instantly, didn't need to restart.
same here. i am using my own character. it does have cartoonin proportions but the size should be fine. also armature as well as character are uniform/zeroed out… did you find the problem?

Thanks a bunch. I have 0 EXP in rigging and now I've got something satisfyingly functional. I learned a lot.
Thanks for teaching me all the Blender basics, especially the one on how to disable the rig that comes with a character
By Jove, this is gold! I've been struggling with rigging ever since I discovered rigging, but this is the first time it all makes sense. Very well explained, many thanks.
Outstanding tutorial. Very clear, very basic, explains everything without jabbering, and most importantly, done at the right speed.
Very nice tutorial. Rotation of the bones in relation to targets is a subtly. In 2.79 symetterize decided to rotate a leg 180 degrees. The mannequin survived surgery and is doing fine.
That was amazing, I've just fully rigged a character previously having no clue where to start. Thank you!

you are the only one who tech blender like it is possible to use as beginner, thank you so much !
I've stoped blender few years ago and forgot everything. Thumb up for reminding me all!
btw, making the poles parents (keep offset) of the target (foot pole for knee target etc) is smarter than main

WHY DOES THE WORLD HATE US AMD USERS ?!?!?!?!??!?!?!? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Thank you so much
Also, when you are in the Pose mode, you can click on the Pose menu at the top and then select Inverse Kinematics/Add IK to bone.
can you explain this in other words? like dafuq is an adrenalin software?

Hey I'm using the most recent version of Blender and followed along. Glad your advice is still helping us out still.
Perfect tutorial. Great starting point, and yet at the end of the tutorial we get a character rigged (enough) for animation.
thanks for the tutorial on character rigging it really solved my problem with animating characters with bones manually..
