I've never seen a Filterton in a Strat bridge position, but it sounds great (in your hands, of course). I'm more of a Tele player and never got on well with the Strat bridge position. This just might change my mind.
Watching this makes me really understand the difference between a good guitarist, and a good musician. Truly amazing playing! It's not often I can forget about trying to figure out what a guitarist is doing, and just enjoy listening to them.
I’m planning a refinish and upgrade to my MIM strat. I think you sold me on a filtertron. Love that sound. I also like the sound of the neck pup wired wide open. Great tones!
Hey Shawn, been playing a Gretsch at church (with Eddie E. and Loren H. you might know them) and was wanting to keep that filtertron vibe and get something with a better trem, so decided to mod an L&G strat copy with a filter tron. I love the tones you were getting and of course your playing is stellar. All that to say thanks for this demo.
Fair enough, if that trick with the angled Strat trem claw works - it works. I can't see why it would work though - I would have thought that all the forces acting on the trem block are brought into line by the pivot screws, and as long all the springs are within the width between the pivot screws, it wouldn't make much difference which spring tugging hardest to whether the guitar stays in tune. I'd be interested to hear why anyone thinks this should work, though as I already said, if it works, it works.
Mmm nice sounds Great feel in your playing My guitar has a body made out of solid Adler grown in France, nice and light with a lovely tone. it's got a stain, but a clear varnish finish so you can still see all the grain of the wood. In bright sunlight it has a warm deep amber glow to it . Nothing else added to it except a simple see through Strat style scratch plate. On first glance it doesn't obviously look like a wood grain, my Dad says it reminds him more if a patterned animal camouflaged fur. ;~)
Shawn, I've been using a newly acquired Rocket Archer iKon with an MXR Analog chorus & boosting it when needed with an MXR Line Driver...I notice you're using a Delay which gives very creamy tones as well ....could you give us a tip with the settings used? thanks, you're honesty is refreshing ..the playing, tones & Shawn-anagins are always top of the heap good....keep'em coming !
Where would I find a pickguard cut to do exactly this? Was thinking of swapping my strat bridge out for a Filtertron and this video has sold me. Having trouble finding any pickgaurds though.
Hi I am really interested in knowing what pot values you used for this, since filtertrons aren't exactly PAF style humbuckers I really don't know if 500k pots will make them sound too shrill
Hi, I would like to put a TV jones Classic Plus to the bridge of my Stratocaster American Special HSS! Are the size of these filtertron pickups compatible with Stratocaster body and pickguard? thanks a lot, Greetings! :D
Guitarfetish.com sells Strat pickguards routed for Filter’Trons. If you’re body is routed for a bridge Humbucker it’ll fit a Filter’Tron. If it’s a SSS Strat you’ll have to pull the pickguard to check the routing. American Standards and Mexican Standard bodies are routed HSS or HSH but if it’s more of a vintage reissue Strat it’s likely an SSS route.

That’s one of the best sounding strats I’ve ever heard!

Practice makes perfect and Shawn practices a ton!

Definitely!
this sounds like Michael Landau guitar style! very nice, man!
Shawn , please , do something in this vein for us out here. I love all your licks but your mellow type playing is outstanding!
Amen to that!
Just wow! Thanks Shawn.
A beautiful guitar played well.
Great Tones!!!! What are the other Pickups?
Very nice demo thank you 👍🙌

Big Jeff Beck fan hey? hahaha amazing playing. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought to put a filtertron on an HSS strat
Great playing
Have a pearly gates Humbucker on my strat now. Love the output on it, but been looking for something a little "brighter". This may be it!
Shawn that’s just amazing. 😮
Great video!

Yay. I got to be the 100 “like”! Great playing as always.
Sounds like Jeff Beck, amazing.
Can you share your filtertron wiring??
I just bought a gretsch filtertron and i cannot find the wiring instructions.
Awesome sound btw
New viewer. You must get so much praise for your axe wrangling chops ....so I'm gonna flip the script - I hate you for being so damn talented! Lol
Great sounding guitar brother! One question. What about the spacing between the bridge and pickup poles?
Landau vibessssssss
Yessssssss

great video i have some questions. how is the wiring diagram? what pots do you use? the diagram is the same as a strat hss is there a difference?
Hi great sounding instrument! Is that a filter tron plus or just regular? Thanks
That's a standard Filtertron, Paul.
Good grief I love this guitar. The only thing I'd change is a 3-ply pickguard and maybe a little less relicing.
Tremonti brought me here
Jim Deighan Same!
9.5 inch radius as touted as modern as vintage is 7.5 inch radius , now we live in a world where 10 inch radius is considered vintage.
Any idea what pots are used for this wiring?
Whole buncha purty, right there. Wow.
strings ?
