Endless noodling - I could listen to this all day!! Thanks for playing clean at first, besides showing how nicely you play I feel like I can ACTUALLY hear what the pickups sound like before jumping off into the dirty end of the pond.
I bought a Squier Deluxe Telecaster, changed the neck to a correct large headstock, and redid the whole wiring harness. Lastly, I installed TV Jones Filtertrons. That thing is a joy to play. Really beefy, rude sounding pickups. I love it.
Beautiful playing and a killer tone. It's funny that Fender has just recently released a Tele with the TV Jones pick ups. That's what brought me here, I thought this was a demo of that guitar. So glad I wandered in to hear to play.
Wanted to hear the sounds of a TV Jones in the neck of a Tele, wound up being captivated by your playing. Really enjoyed watching and listening. Thanks for posting!
Can you please do a video that is just a full instrumental version of "In My Life"? I must come back to this video every couple months since I first saw it, just so I can hear it again. So beautiful, man.
Nice Version of 'My Life" Great playing. Thanks for showing Geetah & p/up versitility. Worth watching & helped me make up my mind about TV jones p/ups Cheers
2019...almost 2020 and i'm still coming back to this wonderful intro. Btw. I stole your idea last year and built me a Tele with Filtertrons...it sounds awesome... and i added a Bigsby...no Filtertrons without a Bigsby :)
Zeta Hi there! I can't tell if it's worth, you need to route the pickup cavities, need the Filtertons, another bridge plate and pickguard. Not to forget the electronics wich need an upgrade too. Take a look at this guitar. I don't know where you located, but they make good shipping fees to other countries too. www.thomann.de/de/harley_benton_te_90flt_vw_deluxe_series.htm You will find lot's of reviews here on YT and the Roswell Filtertrons pickups are very close to the Gretsch Filtrons sound wise. Over all i think you may save some money and time.
The best fact when you have a Telecaster..you can put any pickup.. name it, P90, Soapbar,TV Jones, humbucker with cover, jazzmaster pickup.. it looks beautiful , stunning ,tough and suitable
I know this is an older vid but on a newer built warmoth style tele, would I be better off with these or p90s? I have a tele standard and I don't know where to take the new one. These sound low output enough to not try and be super thin. Perhaps it's just your playing aswell. Thanks tho sir.
@@madmod Subjectively, it's your call. Objectively, the P90s will have hum and fewer options for wiring. You can always experiment with 4-conductor humbuckers (e.g., coil taps, series/parallel wiring, etc.). P90s will probably be cheaper though, depending on the brand. They're both great pickups in that they take the best bits of the respective sounds of single coils and humbuckers. I think P90s have more definition (i.e., Strat voicing) for single notes, whereas Filtertons make better chords than P90s. But now I'm being subjective, so you just need to let your ears tell you what to do.
@@alexplorer humbuckers wired for split or taps just sound like they got their balls clipped. I have had better luck with stock cheapo singles. I'm just wondering if it's even worth option for p90 over stock style tele pups.
Top class demo - beautiful feel and tone and gives a great idea of what to expect from these pups in a tele... I have a Danny Gatton tele, which is fantastic, but I'm now toying with the idea of a tele with TV Jones pups mainly thanks to you :-) Perhaps a thinline with Bigsby. Wondrous tone and playing - thanks!
Nice playing lovley tone! is your tele a standard tele been modified! because as we all know the bidge pickup in a standard tele is not straight along with the tele bridge. Can you please advise thanks.
That certainly makes me a lot less hesitant about not having a v/v/t/t/ config for installing TV jones classics into. Though I'm still considering doing it to a Les Paul over a tele, I can get the the telecaster a lot cheaper. :) Great playing, and outstanding tone!
this is so so excellent! I know it was a million years ago, but do you have any memory of what string gauge/type you were using here? thanks in any case!
Holy cow , your rendition of in my life in the beginning is absolutely beautiful.
Thanks so much!
you are a master of the understatement. this guy is remarkably musical
Just watch it over and over. He isn,t hiding what he,s doing. You can clearly see his chord positions.
Yeah very nice. Reminds me of Bill Frisell
Good Lord that is a beautiful tone. Lovely playing - thanks for sharing
Lol. Just scrolled up and saw it’s Mike Herman’s. Lol was always gonna be good 🤛

Your Beatles arrangements are always stellar.
Your playing always inspires me to continue working on my skills and techniques on the guitar. Thanks for the inspiration.
You need to do an 'In My Life' tutorial. That was beautiful!
Matt Cunningham Thanks! When time permits...
That would be awesome
nice tone, nice picking, nice audio, nice editing. thx for the quality
Bill Mcdonald Thanks for watching!
My heart just flown away with that version of In My Life!!
Thank's for that WONDERFUL performance!
That version of In My Life is one of the greatest bits of guitar I've ever heard.
great tone and great playing - love the TV Jones p-ups in the Tele!
johnnykR9 I really like Lollars Filtertrons as well
Thats one of the best sounding teles iv ever heard... sweet jazzy licks too !
Was sitting on the fence about getting TV Jones Filtertron pickups. This video helped convince me. Great tone. Great playing.
Excellent playing! Your tone in the 2nd half reminded of Jeff Beck's tone. Very sweet.
I bought a Squier Deluxe Telecaster, changed the neck to a correct large headstock, and redid the whole wiring harness. Lastly, I installed TV Jones Filtertrons. That thing is a joy to play. Really beefy, rude sounding pickups. I love it.
Brilliant guitar playing! "In My Life" is an exceptional track!
John & Paul will be so proud of you!
Wow man, greatest sound! The best video ever!
I have watched many of your pedal demos and for me, this guitar/pedal combo is the best tone ever. As always, enjoyed your playing.
the opening riff on all your videos is so good
Oh hey theres the lovepedal Amp11 again. Love mine! Nothing beats its versatility for tele tones.
Thanks for that. I've been toying with the idea of replacing my Tele neck pickup with TV Jones. This helps sway me in that direction.
Beautiful playing and a killer tone. It's funny that Fender has just recently released a Tele with the TV Jones pick ups. That's what brought me here, I thought this was a demo of that guitar. So glad I wandered in to hear to play.
at first I thought you were playing "that's when the heartache begins" by Elvis... then I heard the distinctive "In my life" lick... awesome
You Sir are a TONE MONSTER!!!!....great sound and great playing!!!!
Wanted to hear the sounds of a TV Jones in the neck of a Tele, wound up being captivated by your playing. Really enjoyed watching and listening. Thanks for posting!
Ha ....... as a noodler who's never progressed beyond hopeless your noodling is most excellent !!
Great playing and tasty pickups
Absolutely love the noodling - especially with that tasty crunch.
Can you please do a video that is just a full instrumental version of "In My Life"? I must come back to this video every couple months since I first saw it, just so I can hear it again. So beautiful, man.
These pickups are unbelievable. I would love to own a solid body with a set to really rock! Thanks for the great instrumentals.
i have been wanting this exact set up...f ing awesome...tv jones in a tele
Fantastic chord melody technique and fantastic fusion jazz playing. You are so good man!! Regards from Brasil!
I'm convinced that you could play through a $69 beginner guitar bundle; cheap patch chords included...and STILL sound amazing!
Another incredible rendition!!! Couldn't have sounded any better Mike!!!!
Mr. your guitar sounds like heaven. Congrats!
Nice Version of 'My Life" Great playing. Thanks for showing Geetah & p/up versitility.

wow sounds like a true clean bright tele

I've been thinking of adding filtertrons to my classic vibe Tele. I use to have a gretsch and I miss that sparkly tone. Is it worth going for it?

HOLY GOODNESS THAT SOUNDS PHENOMENAL
Very good soloing, knows what he's doing but does not go overboard on technique, very tasty and funky.
Holy cow! That is an amazing playing style dude.. Considering filterons in a custom tele build. Thanks for the demo
Summoning a little Jay Graydon style. I love it.
Smooth! That funk jam is full of some cool tones.
Such a beautiful arrangement of "In My Life"
Amazing tone and playing.
Would you happen to have a tab for the version of "In My Life" by the Beatles that you played in the intro part? It was beautiful.
i tabbed it out if you're interested contact me

Incredible playing man
@sunbrst62 Everything you wrote fits the description. I like it because there is no hum, but they are a lot more clear sounding than humbuckers....

Man, amazing sounds! I just got a tele like that. Do you have to change the original pickguard to put this tv jones on neck?
I wish I had the chops for those noodles.

very nice sound on those tron's!
Lovely cleans bro . Nice In my Life cover !
Slick! I like it. Sounds great, great playing. I'm having second thoughts about solid bodies after this...
i look forward to your vids and quite like your endless noodling!
Your one heck of a guitar player
looking at tv jones pickups.. only problem is that you can make a garbage can sound good.. dang that is awesome playing
Do the TV jones have a smaller route foot print than a humbucker? Would I need a custom pickguard an route for blacktop?
Nice playing lovley tone! is your tele a standard tele been modified! because as we all know the bidge pickup in a standard tele is not straight along with the tele bridge. Can you please advise thanks.
thats purdy! I love the Monkeys too!! ok I kid.I would like to see more of the twangy side of these pickups in a future video

the intro music sounded great
Which song are you playing at first? it reminds me one song from Radiohead
thanks
Dude, what a sound! What wood is the body made of? Definitely interested and in making myself a guitar with tv jones in there.

so tasty, reminds me some Allen Hinds stuff. My ATF Beatles tune too, so sweet.
Are these pickups the same size as humbuckers? I see that they are in a Blacktop tele.
