    This is probably my favorite video you've done! All sound great, but that Tuttle really does sound warm. You said something very important to remember... It's not about how the guitar sounds by itself, but how it sounds in the track! Wise words! Many times I've been surprised by which pickup sounds the best with the band, where I would otherwise think it was too thin. Ultimately, everything has to carve out, and fit into its own frequency range to achieve a tone that stands by itself within a mix. Great video as always, and I especially dig the impromptu shenanigans. Humor makes us human, and relatable. Good stuff!

    Thanks for this video Shawn. I watched your previous strat vs strat vid which helped me when I played/compared a Suhr vs LSL vs Music Man. I’m used to playing MM guitars so the Cutlass felt like home but the LSL fitted like a glove and the Suhr felt solid and suited to any style. They were all so well built and I could justify owning them all. As you say: nowadays all +$2k guitars are so well built. It’s a really difficult decision.

    Hey Shawn my first "real" guitar was a Tom Anderson grand am lam that I bought from Lab Sound in Garden Grove back in 1990. Around that time was when I first met you and the rest of the guys at Lab Sound. It was also the time you were a Mesa/Boogie product specialist. I still have one of your business cards. I love that guitar. Recently I purchased a Fender Custom Shop Tamo Ash Telecaster. It was a game changer for me. Whole different feel. I love that guitar play it everyday. I special ordered it from Sweetwater Music. It took a year to get it! I never played it until the day it arrived. I agree with you ever guitar I own has it's purpose they are like my children. LOL Thanks for doing this channel I'm learning a lot from you!

    I built me a Warmoth for about 1200. I used all top line hardware. Roasted swamp ash roasted maple with rosewood fb. Basically a tribute to Jeff Beck. What I found about strat tone is its mostly in the tone controls the volume knob resistance values and the pickups. your pickups can't be too hot or too cold. you're paying way too much for those high end guitars try putting some Lollars or other boutique pickup in an average strat and wire per original 50s or 60s wiring spec and you will have proper strat tone.

    ... great video - THANKS! ... BUT: Why do you store your guitars hanging on a wall ?? ... I heard that this kind of storing IS NOT GOOD for the truss-rod - weight of the guitar (gravity) works against the little curve which truss-rod should bring to the neck ...

    • @ShawnTubbs
      @ShawnTubbs  4 роки тому

      I haven't noticed any effect at all but that being said, if you take into consideration the amount of tension that is generally placed on the neck of an electric guitar (100 lbs) or so and then, take into consideration the weight of the average guitar body (3-10 Lbs) I wouldn't think it would somehow, hanging the guitar by the headstock, take relief out of or away from the neck.

    Think you can get that Schecter in a cheaper guise - like half the price. Big Suhr fan but really loved the Lollar pick ups.
