It's amazing that the a6400 still holds up against the newer R10 based on the age of the a6400. My first camera was the Sony Mavica with a 3.5" floppy drive. I love Sony but the Canons are great as well. Luckily like you I have a decent camera budget and own more cameras than maybe anyone should but I love all of the modern cameras they are so good. Thanks for another great comparison video. Cheers.
Very underrated channel, your channel should be at least have 100K subscribers, i always watch your content, i know there are many youtube giants (For mirrorless and camera content), but yours are definitely enjoyable and informative, i would like to see a video about exposing for slog or cine profile! Thank you Mark, keep on uploading videos for us!
Canon shot itself in both feet the day it decided to create an infinite number (I'm kidding) of mounts it seems like they invent a new mount every time they release a new camera. On paper it looks good to do business but when choosing the camera and brand it becomes very complicated to choose and it led me to choose another brand. You may think I hate canon but I still had my canon over 15 years old. You can put in all the whistles and bells but it becomes a headache to buy lenses either because you don't have them or because they are few. The normal thing is to choose another Brand. If anyone at Canon reads this review, do something to make the company more consumer-friendly.
Thanx man. That is what I was asking for. After watching this video and doing other research as well, I can confidently say that I didn't make a mistake buying the A6400. And I will still choose the A6400 again any time over the R10, unless and until they release a whole bunch of different lens options or allow 3rd party manufacturers do that job for them. Because essentially, a camera body is just a one time investment. This is all a lenses game after that. And man!! does Canon lag way far behind in that segment. Would love to see a side by side comparison in the future as well.
I bought the EF to R adapter and got the EF-S 10-18mm and the 24mm lenses and they work great with the R10 and R7. I like the grip and still can't believe how light the R10 is. Low light is lousy but when sunny it's excellent. I got an idea for you. Test out the flashes from both cameras when taking photos and see how both perform with Red Eye. Love that Apple Juice. Cheers!
Its good that you are still shooting on gh5 and G7, I also want to try other brands other than Sony like Canon and Fuji. I think when you grow in camera business you should always delve in more than one brand.
Good review... I wish Sony would update the a6xxx line with the newer features of the ZV-E10 + weather sealing, flippy screen, EVF, IBIS, new menu and better RS performance. Except for the most entry-level "vlogging" (mislabeled IMHO) cameras, Sony seems to be ignoring mid-range APS-C in favor of pricier FF.
Been watching your videos over the last few weeks and I decided to get the Sony ZV E10. It’s Great little camera, keep rolling out the great content 👍🏻
Great video Mark as always. Btw, we truly appreciate the finer details such as the external recorder need for a6400 (autofocus workaround). I think people will be happy with both but there are some compromises. By the way, the Panasonic cameras still look good.
Well the A6400 can justify the compact size and price to performance when paired with Sigma Primes or Viltrox primes. Cannot say the same for the Canon.
I’m choosing between the R10 and a6400 for vlogs and a webcam for work/UA-cam. I’ve always been a Canon guy, but I’m not afraid to switch if there’s something better out there. What would you prefer between the two for my sort of hobbies?
If you’re a canon guy - the r10 is great - as long as you’re happy with the kit lens and you don’t mind adapting EF glass. They don’t have any wide lenses for the R Mount apsc system yet. If you go the Sony route, the zv-e10 is best because it has electronic stabilization, better flip screen, gyro data you can use to get gimbal-like footage with the free program catalyst browse. Tons of lenses available for the Sony in all price ranges.
Another good comparison ... The lens thing is big issue for Canon. Have heard they don't want to cooperate with 3rd party mfgs. Not sure about that info. Cheers
yes - people at viltrox told me Canon told them to stop selling lenses. other 3rd party ones were told the same thing. Not sure what canons plan is - but he lens selection is really limited.

I had to dig in some of your old videos for the links so hopefully they still work for you. I was considering the Fujifilm X-s10 and went with the Sony for the autofocus and lowlight performance, ability to use gyroscopic data in catalyst, lens selection, and all the videos and tutorials you have on your channel that are so helpful but I would love to know your opinions on the Fuji, especially with the Viltrox 13mm f/1.4.
I appreciate you taking the effort to go through my link - very kind!! I will be testing the Fuji with the sigma 16 and Viltrox 13. But value for money - autofocus and lowlight - the zv-e10 is as good as it gets.

Coming from a Canon S120 compact (owned the whole serie) my intention was to buy a camera with changeable lenses from Canon but they really make it hard to see any model as a good buy tbh. Why no weather sealing and the limited choice of lenses 🤦♂️

Sony is coming out with the FX30, which is a new APS-C camera. Although it is an addition to their "cinema" line, so it may not be a cheap choice. But, I am actually looking forward to seeing its final specs. It could prove to be a good second camera to my A7iv. Excellent video. This is really good for people who are just starting out and may want to spend less. I had the a6400 for a while. It was/is a really good camera.

I don’t like the canon lens options right now for the r7. I don’t want to buy adapters and use old lenses for a different system, and there’s not much that suits me in the RF lineup. I was going to buy the R7, but it doesn’t make sense for me because of the lenses. And now that the FX30 is out - even more reason to keep buying Sony compatible lenses
Cannon can compile 4k timlapse in camera to video sony a6400 cannot . Only takes pics its somwhat annoying to find out after one shells out 1200 dollars lol. A lot of ppl dont have time to edit 1000 raw photoes and compile them yourself on your laptop lol. The a6400 has a metal weather sealed body though.
Canon has what, four different active lens mounts now? Sony seems to be the more logical ecosystem to me if you don’t want to waste money on a bunch of different lens mounts.
