    After months of wanting to upgrade my EOS T3i but not having budget to go to something like an EOS R7, when I saw the R10 I figured it would be the camera best suited for my needs, budget and experience (beginner). Your video is well made and a welcome quick training session. Thank you!

      You are very welcome Glycerine30 and the R10 seams like the logical step if you want to switch to the newer mirrorless cameras. R7 would be the better option of course if you want more bells and whistles ;) If you want to learn more about Photography and how to use the camera as a beginner, be sure to check out my R10 Camera Modes Video here: ua-cam.com/video/V2atwxYzPBA/v-deo.html All the best, Jay

    The notch for the continuous power adapter is on the grip side and will probably work with the ac-e6n adapter that works with the rp, its covered by a little piece of rubber on the grip side of the battery door and you can pop that rubber out to allow the cable to come out of the side ;-)

      One last question
      The r10 or the Z30
      Just for vlogs and thumbnails which one would you choose ?

    • @Jason_Hermann
      @Jason_Hermann  Рік тому +1

      I would go with the R10, because it does not overheat. The Z30 has more lens options, but it will overheat after about 45minutes recording in 4k based on my testing... The Sony ZV-E10 is also a great option worth considering, because there are tons of lens options and it does'nt overheat with regular use if you have the auto power off temp set to high.

    Hi Jason, excellent tutorial as always. You did not mention the Clarity setting. Can you explain that please? I have not found too much info on it. Also do you use it? Thanks

    • @Jason_Hermann
      @Jason_Hermann  6 місяців тому

      Clarity adds a little extra processing to the images. Clarity specifically adds a punchy contrast and slightly de saturates as well in my opinion based on testing over the years. If you are a jpeg shooter that wants to get turn key processed images straight off the camera, then clarity is worth experimenting with for sure. For example I shoot RAW, but when I get into Lightroom to process I add contrast, saturations, clarity, etc... The Canon R10 will automatically do it's own jpeg processing which includes sharpening, saturation, and so fourth, , but you can alter it as you see fit.

      Your help previously with my Sony cameras and now with my 😮Canon has been the best. I contributed to your tip jar a couple days ago to show my appreciation. I did have one more question. The feature I like the most with Sony cameras is the Fn button. I could program that to show 10 of my most used functions and get to them quickly, one specifically is the HDR setting since I toggle back and forth with that a lot. Looking at the Q menu and the M-Fn buttons on the R-10 I don't see a way to quickly get to HDR without going into the Menu. Am I missing something? Thanks

We also plan on using it for her birthdays, baptisim as well as when we go and travel. Im wondering if the R10 is a good option for me? Do you have any other suggestions? Im new to photography however want to make it a hobby. Thanks in advance

    • @Jason_Hermann
      @Jason_Hermann  Рік тому

      Yes, absolutely the R10 is a great option in my opinion. Currently there are only a few RF-S lenses though, but more will be coming soon once Canon allows for 3rd party manufactures like Sigma to make lenses for RF... I would go with the 18-150mm lens for an all-in-one solution, but the super light weight and compact 18-45mm is pretty good and the new 55-210mm is also looking pretty good although a lot more testing is needed still. I'm currently working with that lens and the R50 which is the little brother to the more powerful R10... I hope that helps, Jay

    Which one would you recommend better… zve10 vs r10. I want it for both video and photos.

    • @Jason_Hermann
      @Jason_Hermann  Рік тому

      For photos and video and I would be leaning towards the R10 for the awesome viewfinder... However, there are barely any canon aps-c lenses to chose from... Therefore, you might want to consider the Sony A6400 even though it's a bit older it has the same stuff as the ZV-E10 inside and a viewfinder. It doesn't have the full fledge flippy screen though... The Canon R10 is a great option for a camera body and features don't get me wrong, I just wish there were more APS-C lenses besides the two kit lenses Canon is offering... the RF-S 18-150mm is a solid kit lens, but no fast prime lenses are available or wide angle lenses... Sony has a crazy amount of affordable APS-C lens options. Lenses really make the camera system, so depending on your needs that may or may not matter to you. I hope that helps and all the best, Jay

    Thanks for a review. It was a good one! Did you ever adapt Canon lenses to your A6400. I own A6400 and stil have Canon 70-200 f2,8. I'm struggling if maybe I should buy Sigma MC11 and stay with Sony / sell C70-200 and buy something similiar (Tamron 70-180 looks nice but it's not possible to use extenders with it and I sometimes do use EXx2).... or maybe sell Sony and buy R10.... I think this combo would have best AF with C70-200 (I love this lens... great IQ and built like a tank). Which one do you prefer out of this 2.. R10 or A6400?

    • @Jason_Hermann
      @Jason_Hermann  Рік тому +2

      Yeah, I've attached my Canon lenses to my Sony cameras many times using the Metabones Adapter. It works, but not near as good as the Canon EF lenses adapted to the Canon R10 for example. I really do prefer the ergonomics of the Canon R10 especially with a heavier lens and I also prefer the color science of the R10 in particular the skin tones... However, I still prefer the Sony Autofocus system a little better. Probably, just because I'm so used to having several Sony cameras for so many years though.. The real problem I'm finding though is Canon's lack of RF lenses and RF-S lenses in particular. So for that specific reason I would prolly consider the now older Sony A6400 or used A7 III, because there are so many lenses to choose from... For example the Sony FE 70-200mm f/4 G OSS Lens is really awesome and you can get them used for fairly cheap. I have been using that lately and loving it for the light f/4 weight... The Tamron 70-180mm is awesome as well or you could go with a crop factor lens like the E 70-350mm G lens which I reviewed here: ua-cam.com/video/Rs9Me5FCgTM/v-deo.html I hope that helps, Jay

    • @Jason_Hermann
      @Jason_Hermann  Рік тому

      This camera will work, but it won't record for several hours in a row. You will need to change batteries or get a dummy battery solution. Also the camera has a max recording time of 2 hours per video clip. So you need to hit record again at the 2 hour mark... Also, overheating can be an issue if recording in 4k for that long, especially if in the sun for example, so keep that in mind!

    Shame that these cameras can't take battery grips. Would love the extra weight to make it more stable when holding

      If gracious enough to see and respond back, do you have any reccomendations or the best kind of mics to use for this camera? (Talking head videos)

      @@SoulKnightKing Hello again and the on camera mic I am currently using and would recommend is the Sennheiser MKE400 geni.us/48tBO If you need something more affordable, I also have the Rode Video Micro: geni.us/BLry which works good, but does not have the same audio quality of the Sennheiser...

      @Jason_Hermann hey there update. I actually went to NYC today and picked up the mk 400. I woukda used your affiliate link if I purchased it online but the shipping was too expensive and too slow. However it blows the rode video mic pro 2 out of the water wow this is so cool. Thanks for making a huge difference in my Conte t creation journey. In 2 comments u helped me put more than 4 hours of Google and watching yt videos for help. You're so awesome

    just bought this camera kit with the 18-45 lens. One of the first things that you might should have covered was how to have the LCD display stay on like yours is so as to follow your tutorial (which is great) easier. I have not watched your tutorial all the way yet but am anxious as I am switching from an Olympus E-PL5 to this. I was a little apprehensive once I got home and was talking to a friend who has a Canon 6d which is full sensor and my R10 is a cropped sensor. From what I have been told, DSLR's are on the way out and within a year, possibly, it will most likely be all mirrorless. I am hoping to find out how to shoot HDR on this as well.

    I really wanted to buy a nice camera to capture life’s moments, but this video is a bit overwhelming which makes me want to stick with my phone. Is this camera difficult to get the hang of? Mind you I only point and shoot with my phone.

      If you use it in full auto mode, it is pretty much just pointing and shooting. If you want to use the camera in more advanced ways, yes you will need to invest some time in learning.... The larger sensor and options of awesome lenses is what gives the "real" camera more potential power than your phone. Being able to zoom in more and get separation from the background in particular.

      No, it's a mirrorless camera... DSLR is the older style camera with the mirror in front of the sensor.
