front of the trigger guard is the best location for the safety. mount shotgun, trigger finger straight outside the trigger guard, and the safety is right there. no reposition of hold needed. no extra movement. in the rear, you have to reposition your hand and locate the button.
when i'm holding the shotgun, my right thumb naturally hits the safety as i'm raising the gun to shoulder it. Then when I remove the gun from my shoulder my middle finger naturally flips off the safety. I can not get used to a safety that is in front of the trigger. I've had a bunch but having the safety behind the trigger is way easier for me
My son just got an A300 Ultima for bird hunting. He is a clay target shooter and has tried it out for skeet and trap doubles and it did pretty well. I shot a round of trap with it and shot well. I don't think this is a clays gun for anyone that is serious but for someone that wants to hunt and also break some rock for fun it does a great job.
Awesome. You are right, most people that get real serious about shooting trap, skeet or sporting clays, usually shoot a break action gun. That said, there are a lot of hunters that use their guns to shoot clays here and there and there are also a lot of youth shooters that shoot whatever they have available.
@@TargetFocusedLife yep, you kinda wrote exactly why I bought mine, can use it for several purposes without breaking the bank and a good for me to at least gain some experience with skeet and trap shooting since this is my first shotgun
Just picked one up for getting into trap/skeet shooting. Loved my Beretta pistols I use in IDPA and Beretta has been building guns for 500 years. I absolutely love it. Even for a rookie shotgunner, it will make you look good and shoot good... So long as you get some professional instruction of course. Review is absolutely spot on too.
@@mattbrandenberg1061 have you've own a gas operated shotgun? Hopefully you have and can let me know how the Franchi holds up to light target loads. I'm in between the A300 and Affinity 3. It's going to be 80% Sporting Clays and 20% Hog/Deer Gun with Slugs.
@@johnlicon2472 I have the franchi affinity 3.5, and I’ve put at least 1000 rounds threw it and never had a light load issue. Now duck season I’ve had issues from time to time bc I’m hard on my gun and don’t clean it as much as I should.
Picked up this gun yesterday for Christmas, and I went out skeet shooting today and the A300 Ultima is a solid semi-automatic shotgun. The first 25-50 rounds were not ejecting properly but after this initial "break in period" , the gun worked flawlessly. The A300 has a solid trigger, smooth action, nice fiber optic front bead and is over all quite solid. Cleaning was easy, and it took me around 35 minutes to clean and oil the gun (I'm quite slow btw). While the gun is very good, I sometimes pinched my finger between the loading gate and loading port, which was a little annoying. The crossbolt safety (for me) is in a bad spot and I found myself missing clays because I accidentally put the gun on safe. After putting around 150 rounds through the gun, I can say that the A300 is a very good autoloading shotgun for busting clays.
Hey! Good choice friend I enjoy it too. I have had some issues with the trigger/safety locking up. Sounds like yours is working great though. If you ever run into the issues I had, I'm releasing a video about it today actually!
I'm just getting back into shooting shotguns for the first time in years and I cannot fathom how he's able to shoot that fast and stay on target. Nicely done!
I bought this shotgun strictly for dove hunting. I must say, it is a bird killing machine. I have always faced the issue of being left handed, but the cross bolt safety can be reversed. As I have aged, I am now right eyes dominant and the mid bead has corrected my shot. Being in South Carolina and dove season opening in sweltering heat, I have not had an issue with my hands slipping from sweat. I’m in love with this gun.
@10:50 in slo-mo I believe you can see the first shell hit Steve's hat and bounce back into the shell coming out of the gun. I think that possibly caused the malfunction.
Just spent about an hour trying to re-assemble my A300, thank you for the video, I reassembled mine like you did. I couldn’t figure it out, so frustrating.
I bought this gun today to replace my 48 year old Ted Williams 12 gauge that I bought at Sears when I was 10 years old. Well, I still have the Ted Williams , but she is being stored away. I love my Ted, but it does not have an adjustable choke and my Buck shot patterns were starting to get away from me. Thank you for the review!

Thank you for your reviews. As a result of your comments, just this month (Feb 2023) I got a Beretta A300 Ultima in 12ga (I'm sure by now they fixed the trigger reset issue that you mentioned in another review). Very pleased with how it fits me, the fact that it is a Beretta, and Made In USA. Haven't shot it yet, but like the balance and feel. For the price, I could buy two new A300 Ultimas for the price of one new A400 Xtreme Plus. Is the A400 worth twice the A300? I'll take the A300, I'm a casual hunter and shooter, I think it's an excellent value. I can easily afford the A400, BTW. Also, I could buy two Turkish semi-autos for one A300 Ultima, but I'll take the Beretta A300 any day over those. The real cost of a gun is feeding it, anyway. I greatly appreciate all your reviews, very informative.
Got one. I like it. Fast. I bought it as a general purpose gun. Nothing primary. I don't like the issue with not being able to get a tube extension for it. Loads kinda funky.
imo I had a Remington V3 and sold it week ago and bought the Beretta Ultima I think the Beretta is lot build better gun and feels a lot better to me my Remington V3 had a ruff finish also it was the wood version

Right out of the box the gas tube was discolored and not fully treated, and gave me two IC chokes instead of a Mod so I couldn’t event hunt waterfowl or late season pheasant. The chokes wouldn’t align properly with the threads in the barrel and after 50 shots, the trigger mechanism broke. Their customer service is also crap, as I had to go to my local cabelas to send it in because I could never get ahold of Beretta despite waiting on the phone for hours. Ive got a 303 outstanding gun...
Love the videos keep them coming
That’s the plan 👊🏻
Does this have the same bolt style bolt handle as the outlander( other that being oversized) I have an ultima and I somehow managed to lose my bolt handle and I was trying to find a replacement but I was unable to find one. I found ones for the outlander and some other guns and I’m wondering if it would fit my ultima.
Hey in a later review you say that you had a problem with the trigger. Did you fix it? Thanks
I shot a virgin one yesterday from Beretta store at National Shooting Complex. It would not eject shells Tried tried 2 brands . Rep tried second model same result I dont think they fixed it
Love the video butt I have a question What editing software do you use Cause I'm looking and I can't find any. If you see this Please tell me. Also I will be at the Ponca state park expo And I'm going to see you perform see you there
We use Final Cut Pro X and Adobe Premiere Pro. Can't wait to see you at the Missouri River Expo next month!!! 👊 Stay Target 🎯Focused (Hebrews 12:1-3)

Cash you review Franchi effenety 3
Steve you forgot to mention the Feng shui ! Come on Man. Lol
I just bought a a300 ultima. I'm having trouble with it cycling. I've tried 3 different types of 12 gauge shot. Any ideas to solve this issue
WHAT'S IS YOUR OPINION OF THE KICKOFF RECOIL PAD???
MY 20 GA A300 ULTIMA MADE IN JAN. 2023 HAD SO MANY PROBLEMS I HAD TO SENT IT BACK TO THE FACTORY. NO QUALITY CONTROL NO FACTORY TESTING PRIOR TO SHIPPING.
Which Carlson choke are you using?
Did it come with shims, or just length of pull adjustments?
I AM LOOKING TO BUY ONE NOW, THE ONE I FOUND HAS ONE OF THE BEST TRIGGERS OUT THERE AND MOUNTS JUST PERFECTLY FOR ME.
SUBSCRIBED!!😉👉
Hi Sam G., thank you for checking out the channel and subscribing. I couldn't do what I do without people like you! Did you pick that Ultima up yet? Let me know how you like it once you start shooting it. 👊 Stay Target 🎯Focused (Hebrews 12:1-3)
@@TargetFocusedLife I WILL, I KNOW YOU LOVE THE BROWNINGS AS YOU SHOULD, IT FITS YOU BETTER. ALL THESE SHOTGUNS WILL HAVE THEIR GOOD POINTS AND BAD POINTS, NOTHING WILL EVER BE PERFECT FOR EVERYONE. I have not picked up the shotgun yet I'm trying to haggle them down another $100.00, It's a display model with a few little things here and there so, Every little thing adds up🤷♂️😉😂 If I list the type of shotguns I own you are gonna tell me why in the world do you need that, But I love guns and for some reason this model just fit me perfectly And the trigger on it is insanely good it's like came out of burrita custom shop or something. Let's see what happens good luck to you and your future doing these videos for all of us and have a wonderful weekend.
Id like to see you review the Weatherby 18i
Not the same price point, but compare to the 1301 as I am considering one of the 2
300 rounds and have the trigger reset problem. Getting rid of it.
Can you use a a300 outlander barrel on this model i was thinking of grabbing a outlander barrel off the website and making it 18.5 so this can do double duty
Franchi Affinity 3 vs Beretta a300 ultima ??
Hello big master how are you?

Another great review! Y’all going to make the NRA Annual Meeting in Houston?
Thanks for watching. We will not be at the NRAAM. We have a show over those dates and then we are heading elk hunting! 👊 Stay Target 🎯Focused (Hebrews 12:1-3)
@@TargetFocusedLife Good luck and God Bless!
there are many paint jobs for the ultima, are all the actions the same.
A300 Ultima vs A400 ????
Great review!
Glad you enjoyed it 👊 Stay Target 🎯Focused (Hebrews 12:1-3)
Mine is defective and I can't get Beretta to respond to email or return my warranty inquiry
Which is the way to go: the a300 ultima or the a400 extreme plus for an extra $1,000?
For waterfowl? Do you need 3.5"? The a400 is a great shotgun but bank for the buck, the Ultima is hard to beat. 👊 Stay Target 🎯Focused (Hebrews 12:1-3)
@@TargetFocusedLife thanks so much! I don’t need 3.5 or use for waterfowl. Just pheasant hunting with my GSP. Sounds like the ultima is the way to go for my use. Romans 5:1-2.
I would love to see a review on the CZ 1012 👍
Noted!
I second that
