Hi Ross - thanks for this great informative video and walk through. Unfortunately the "15mm Rail Bridge 1522" is discontinued from SmallRig. What would be a suitable substitute for the combo? Kind regards Jacob
Hello Mate, nice video just a quick question for you does your monitor works when you plug in the mcc cable to both camera and ronin? When I do so my monitor just turns black and as soon as I plug it off it turns back on. Which means I can not access my focus wheel and I have my monitor setup which is really annoying. Did you have the same pb?
@The Brotographer How did you solve this? As soon as I plug my mcc-c or mcc-b then my hdmi output turns black while in movie mode. I've heard that you can buy another mcc-multi cable instead but then you can only control zoom instead of focus but the hdmi output should work... Any other solution for this?
Thanks for video. It’s a great setup. I did have the issue where the arm was hitting the grip clamps at first, even after removing the washers. So I found a fix that worked for me and hopefully it can help solve it for others. I have a Neewer shoulder mount that was laying around. I removed the grip clamps on it, and swapped them out with the Small Rig ones. They are blue, which doesn’t bother me, but the arm now more than clears those clamps without removing the washers on the Neewer clamps. I removed 1 of the washers on it just for a bit more clearance. Hopefully that helps.
Hi, could you help please, I just tried your Smallrig set up but the 2084 handles' locking nuts are too big and get in the way of the Ronin's rotation. Any answers or do I send everything back?
Hi, I followed your setup but how did you get the ronin s and monitor both connected to the camera and works? I connected them both my monitor go blank. Once I unplug the ronin s cable the monitor works again. Thanks
Does anyone know the name of the "extra piece" that was supposed to be included with other items? Unfortunately mine was not included so I have to buy it separately.
i have almost the same setup but instead of mounting the monitor on the bottom i attached a cold shoe mount to the 1/4 threads on the on the next and mounted the monitor there so i wouldn't have to look soo low and it still gives me access to the gimbal controls or you can mount a nato rail on the neck also if u prefer to
I have only one question. The Smallrig 2221 base plate which you put around the ronin always slide up and that already in 5 minutes. how did you fix this? because I tighten the screws really hard and that doesn't help. I don't see anyone with this problem and I think that's weird. I'm afraid if I use the ronin longer, it will come off completely
I too am missing the rail that the monitor clamp mounts on. Yes I have everything you listed including the handles but part is still missing.... What is that part number? It’s not listed in your description. I went ahead and already purchased a NATO rail (SmallRig Nato Rail BUN2501), but it was the wrong part. Don't want to waste anymore money on wrong parts, so your help is greatly appreciated.

I bought all the items you had recommended for the dual gripm for Ronin S. Unfortunately, after installing the dual grip, ronin S is NOT able to PAN around as the locking nut is in the way. You should include this part in your video as well
Could you also undo the 4 screws holding the handle and remount on the other side of the plate. Then reattach to the nato rail with the adjustment screws on the bottom rather than on top?
How are you keeping the base arm of the Ronin S from hitting the quick releases on the handles? If I sit the Ronin on a table with it's tripod and then try to do a simple 360 pan the arm hits the quick release tightening levers. I've tried putting the collar on upside down. Does yours hit, does it affect your work? I should add, I HAVE removed the washers. I've also tapped the collar down as far as possible onto the Ronin's neck. No luck.
Will you do an updated video and let us know if this setup can be easily transferable to the RS2? I want to upgrade but wondering can I use this setup for the RS2?
Great video man. I was trying to look at the clamp attachment for the zhiyun crane 2 and unfortunately there’s no NATO rails on that version. Know of a way to get a small form factor buildout like this for the crane 2? It’s just the clamp that’s different so I’m guessing that it’s gonna take a few more parts.
Bought the 2221 mount and the 2084 handles from Small Rig. Noticed that the panning motion is obstructed by the small knobs that tighten the handles to the mount. Can the handles be mounted on the opposite side of the bracket it's attached to, and the handle mount flipped upside down to be able to 360* pan without obstruction?
I really like the feel of this setup but I don't get enough clearance for the gimbal to move freely with the nato handle knobs. You can actually see how close they are to the gimbal arms in your video at 23 seconds in. I think I need to machine the knobs down so I can get clearance.

I attached the 2005 handle (believe it's the same as the 2084 with that number indicating that it just comes with the rail) and notice that the gimbal arm clears the screw so closely that you can't even see the clearance in between. Doesn't seem to be an issue but is yours that close and never had an issue?

The same thing happens when you try ‘selfie mode’ or in flashlight mode try doing a 360° shot. I’m a little disappointed. If the handle grips were further out...problem solved. @@mklein345 where did you get that specific piece from? Or what did it come with? I ordered everything, but i dont have that piece and i dont know the name of it.
@@jdillard36 The part came with the handles. Part # 2084.
PROBLEM with this setup..Hey buddy.. thanks for this.. i did the same thing, but the screw knobs on top the nato handles rub against ronin s , making it impossible for it rotate around..
Check out the description. Take out the little washers in the screws and you’re good to go!
@@TheBrotographer thanks bud.. let me try that
It’ll work.
@@TheBrotographer Came here looking for an answer about not being able to go into "selfie" mode with this setup (which I also bought). Didn't read the description to learn about the washer removal. Thanks!
Absolutely!
What's the hdmi cable?
I don’t remember the brand.
Great video. Thanks for the tips.
Absolutely!
Nice video
Aïe aïe aïe prices are no longer the same 🤧 but thanks for the inspiration 🙏🏻
At 6:17 it is obvious that this handels blocking pan axis arm, so you will get really limited movements...
Check out the description. There’s an easy fix.
@@TheBrotographer Oh, sorry missed that out, thanks a lot, saved my day )
Can you still use one of those handles while in low mode or still have to hold ronin from stand?
well @The Brotographer ?
In that scenario I prefer to hold the single handle.
How did you stop the ronin s stop from smacking the handle tightener?
Remove the washers from them
@@TheBrotographer fixed, thank you
Nice! Absolutely.
Nice setup!
Thanks man!
First of all great video! Just 2 questions, Which screw did you use to mount the the setup to the ronin S (mine seems to be a little short) , and in my setup the ronin S (specificly the doing a pan) is hitting the screws on top of the dual handles, any fixes 😱?
How to remove the washers? can you saw us?
Wonder if this would work with the SC?
no, the sc collar has a weird shape above the control area, doesn’twork with the smallrig collar
@@GeoffreyGonzales I learned the hard way by ordering one and then realising this. Smallrig now sell an alternative for the SC
Jodie Holland which part do I need to buy sc specific? Thanks
Jodie Holland, please advise which is the alternative?
7:01 face recording ? What’s that ?
can you DM what kind of letter or proposal you send this companies to get you to send you free stuff to review? Ive been trying to get Sailing products to review but no luck.
Hey! Where do you stick your mic?
Typically have a wireless mic pack on one of the handles.
@@TheBrotographer I'm running with a Rode VideoMicPro+ Can't operate the Gimbal in underslung mode. Might need to look at options. Cheers for the reply. What's the music on the vid btw? Make.Art.Now has it on one of his vids.
The setup is alright but mine is better.
I'm not a fan of those nato-rail handles. It takes too long to attach them to the clamp.
So I got this setup and it’s great but if you try using the joystick to pan the camera left or right the lower arm hits the fasteners on the handle grips. The same thing happens when you try ‘selfie mode’ or in flashlight mode try doing a 360° shot. I’m a little disappointed. If the handle grips were further out...problem solved. I tried disassembling and flipping and grips upside down so that the fastener was on the bottom, but the handles aren’t build for that. Bummer. Still a nice setup. Maybe someone has a solution. Thanks!
I added an edit in the description after I made the video. You have to take out the washers in those handles.
The Brotographer Thanks!
@@doctajonz2828 Absolutely man!
I ordered your set up, but now I'm regretting it because at 3:58 you didnt show the process.the holes dont align when im trying to attach it to the bottom of the ronin.
Help
You only use the end hole to attached to the bottom of the Ronin. Then screw the mini tripod in the plate you you’re good to go!
@@TheBrotographer I'm sorry. I actually talked to soon, I'm sorry, your totally right!
Thank you!!!! Love the set again jajaja
NATO Handle screws hit the ronin s arm; there's no clearance for the gimbal if you want to use the 360 rotation.
Take out the washers and you’ll be ok. Do you used 360 rotation very much?
1522 rail bridge not found
can you use the bolt on handles vs the NATO handles?
Yes I’d imagine that would work as well.
