    As far as Bh history goes id say the most interesting guitar was the 2008 guitar with the black headstock. I had the chance to only see that guitar once , it sounded awesome too. Seen him at a place that no longer even exists lol. The shows on youtube tho, look up buckethead club infinity williamsville ny 08 and it should pop up. The setlist was super cool then too with him playing songs like crash victim and brewer in the air but my favorite has gotta be the bh les paul studio guitar, since i jam on mine everyday lol Definitley the best Les Paul ever made, and is perfect for us larger dudes. Great informative video brother, really enjoyed it! WOO!

    Tho not fan of GLP’s, the BH Sig is the only one I’d consider if the prices weren’t so insane. Another thing to note is along w the baritone neck the body is also oversized (~15% larger than a standard GLP). I’m not sure exactly when this switch 1st occurred but some of the pre-Sig custom/prototypes def look bigger than normal. B requested this from Gibson b/c he wanted a guitar that didn’t look like a toy on him & to accommodate his large frame & long alien spider fingers. The larger body (on both models) is also heavily chambered which helps reduce the weight but also gives it much warmer resonance & almost acoustic like tone which to me is what makes it sound so much better than a standard GLP. Like you mention at the end, I always wished he’d release a Sig w a more affordable brand like Ibanez, ESP, Jackson. The quality would be top notch & the price wouldn’t break the bank. Thanks for another well researched & informative vid brother! The amount of fantastic info you been cataloging over the years is astonishing. Well done! Woo!!

    • @NatterNet
      @NatterNet  2 роки тому +2

      Thank you, brother. Much appreciated. Yeah Id say around 2008 is when the body got bigger. But who knows. Be interesting to see what he plays with next tour, if its still that one with the giant mark above the killswitch. A return for an ESP or Jackson would be glorious! Woo!!

    Nice video! I was honestly wondering what the true origin of the Gibson sg baritone in alpine white was. I own one and when you remove the neck pickup, there's "BH" written underneath from the factory. It was released in 2013 and i always felt like it was a model that Buckethead just didn't sign off on at the end. 27" scale,oversized body,alpine white,white toggle switch,same pickups as the LP model,same neck profile,no fret markers,The BH marked in the pickup cavity,... It just screams unofficial signature guitar to me!.

    • @NatterNet
      @NatterNet  2 роки тому +2

      I imagine it was just made with BH in mind but never meant to be a BH model or signature etc, I think they just wanted a similar looking guitar and scale as the BH one...but if they added the killswitch it wouldve been way too obvious and then I imagine they would've had to pay some fee to BH. Glad they didnt release it as a BH model tho, those things just scream Angus to me. Woo!!

    • @NatterNet
      @NatterNet  10 місяців тому

      Anyone can have a custom guitar made by Gibson (and most other brands), you just contact Gibson or a registered Gibson guitar dealer, give them the specs and they'll make it for you (similar to him having Jackson guitars custom made for in 1999 and other his custom Gibsons in early 2000s). He didn't know anyone at Gibson personally. I imagine that after he started using the 2008 "prototype" is when Gibson considered doing a Buckethead line, which they eventually did in late 2009 after he test drove a pre-production Gibson on his 2009 tour (a guitar which he recently sold ua-cam.com/video/5ZNjkJoBjeQ/v-deo.html ). He used white gibsons since the early 2000s, I imagine the white with red killswitch buttons kept in line with the whole KFC moniker.

    You missed a burst Les Paul . . . I don't know if it was before the white one or not, I think so . . . I saw a photo in a Rolling Stone ( I think ) magazine years ago of him playing it live, just as the GnR era began. It was for sure another custom because it was oversized like his others. Anyway, great video.

      No guitarist ever looks at the front markers, they use the side ones. If you can see the front ones when playing you're holding the guitar wrong. ☺️
      Front markers are useful for doing instruction but I think all guitars look better without them, however intricate or decorative they can be.
      Great video and I've always wanted a BH studio version but..../sighs.

    It's a great pity that the baritone sg never become his signature model or at least played by bucket on concert. Thanks to the longer neck, these big guitars have a kind of flute-ish clarity in standard E tuning and they got tesion enough for drop tunings. It could be tough for people with extremely small hands but I guess most players should be OK to adapt to these inspiring machines.
    For those who wish to have these white 496r/500t pu, Dimarzio Air Norton/Steve's special would be a great alternative. Buckethead uses 10-46 strings and dunlop John Petrucci jazz3 picks live. 24mm Sanwa arcade button for killswitch.

      The baritone sg's sound fantastic. I use 13-72 strings and it growls and stays in tune like no other. The finish on the other hand is rather annoying. Very succeptible to yellowing or reacting with certain materials wich make it discolour in weird ways.

      Personally Im glad they didn't, those things just scream angus young to me, even when they're white. I imagine they just modeled it on BH but couldn't put the killswitch on there otherwise that would've been way too obvious and then I'd assume they'd have to pay some kind of fee/royalty to the GOAT. Next up, Jackson Coopwood signatures please!! Woo!!
