OMG that bolt at 7:00 is so hard to get out. I did it about 6 months ago. We had to finagle that sucker. About to have to do it again and came looking for a video to see if there’s an easier way. Let’s hope!!!

I'm having trouble slipping the top bolt off. Is it just a matter of finding the right angle?

What’s the torque on the tensioner lock bolt

the universal answer is tighten just till the threads start to strip then back it off a quarter turn.

My Celica's tensioner will not move...I've tried with all my strength, I've tried with my pal who was in the army and stronger, neither of us can move it..we've tried everything, I'm on the welded nut part but it won't budge, I've tried extending with a bar but it still won't how can I fix this as my belt is cracked and I also want to change my timing chain tensioner

We're you cranking on the pulley itself or the bolt connected to the pulley?

2009 scion tc I may have pulled too far on the tensioner and the bolt stripped and now the belt is also loose and won't retract to tighten up. Any solutions besides replacing the whole tensioner assembly?

Was this procedure done because the tensioner was making noise? I have a 09 corolla xrs with the same 2.4l engine and it just started making a whining noise that gets louder and higher pitched with engine rpm. I did the old long screw driver to the ear thing and it sounds like my tensioner bearing might be going.

+Joe C. This was replaced because the old one was not keeping tension, resulting in the belt skipping and making noise. 1aauto.com

If you take a 1/4" off the top bottle, it slips right in, with out having to fight it.

My new belt is half way on and the tensioner won't loosen the belt. It must have gave out during the install. I want to replace the tensioner but don't want to cut the belt off the alternator. Any suggestions on how to get the belt off?

Take the Alternator off and let it tilt over under the pressure of the belt. Should slip right off since it's the smallest pulley on the system. :)

Bought a belt tensioner from them for my 03 Toyota Camry. Piece of shit! Broke as easily as my factory one when trying to put new belt on. 10/10 don’t recommend!!!
