TBF, when you find out how DR4 came about, its easy to understand why it happened the way that it did.

Here because you asked, no idea what this game is.
I did always think that old lady somehow breaking through the barricade and letting the zombies in with no one being able to stop her was a bit silly even for this series.
7:07 I feel like Resident Evil needed to make it's protagonists badasses for 2 reasons
1. The Predator effect (Predator the movie) in which the main characters are highly trained soldiers who normally would whoop 20 types of ass but when meet with the enemy are just as helpless as regular people, highlighting the threat the enemy poses.
2. The Umbrella Corporation cooks up a lot more than zombies, which no normal person even with the arsenal Frank has could fight against, thus having soldiers and cops makes it more believable they could survive the various monsters as opposed to just Zombies and crazy people.
Resident Evil is such a banger series
tbh. double time quickstep, untouchable, and energizer level 50 Frank West/Chuck Greene/Nick Ramos does sound pretty beast B)

All the Dead Rising protagonists are demi-gods at level fifty. All the Resident Evil protagonists can take a few punches or slashes from Tyrants, B.O.W., or hunters before dying without herbs.

I met Frank West for the first time playing ProjectXZone. Despite it being a massive crossover game and so the cast had to be flanderized a bit to stand out amongst their counterparts, i liked Franks character. He was this well balanced mixture of professionalism and goofiness that always took critical situations seriously, but in less serious moments provided a good amount of comedy. It also helped that his partner in battle was Lei Lei/Hsien-Ko from Darkstalkers, which is both ironic and practical for him.^^

Honestly I always love that you have to manage your time in order to do certain story events, which works very well with Frank since he is a journalist and his objective is to know what’s fully going on and is willing to risk his life and time to get the answers he seek.😺

Dead Rising was one of the first games we rented for a sleepover at a friend's place who had a 360. But not an HD TV. The text was IMPOSSIBLE to read in the early games on SD, for sure.
Finally switching to HD? Wowee zowee, I cried.
I kinda miss renting games from Blockbuster. I don’t miss not owning the games and late fees though. 😅

Dead Rising is funny, but at its best it is a “deadpan comedy” meaning the humor comes from a lack of reaction to the things going on around by the characters.
This is why it’s funny when Frank in a way too small summer dress closes the eyes of Carlito in an otherwise sad and somber moment. If he wasn’t completely serious and made a joke in that scene, it would lose its impact as a comedy.
I always had trouble with the convicts when I played the game years ago.

The way you mention how many ways people can engage with Dead Rising for the story or gameplay also calls out the freedom Dead Rising gives you from the start!
You can grind up a main-storyless playthrough and then suddenly just choose to start over with all stats you gained carried over to make the playthrough where you choose to engage in the story, using all the skills, stats, and knowledge that you learned from the last playthrough where you just screwed around! More engaging and have more tools at your disposal
The feature to just do an early New Game+ allowed me to make rescuing survivors much more fun (Spinning Lariat is the GOAT)

No joke, Dead Rising was like one of the first games that I remember watching on UA-cam back in the early 2010s.
It's how I came across TheRadBrad, one of the longest standing UA-cam channels that I've subscribed to.

The biggest problem with the first game is that Frank always looks constipated as Hell and needs to go to the bathroom whenever he runs.
After being traumataized by the sight of Adam the Clown being turned into ham by his chainsaws, took 11 years old me some while to come back to the game. After I did, it was an amazing experience. Figuring out how to use the sandbox at your advantage, details like all the clocks in the mall being functional or discovering the Untouchable mixed drink, became of my favourites games ever. It's incredibly replayable.

Dead Rising needs to come back and embrace its time management roots. I want a dead rising remake that has more stories, more characters to save their stupid arse from zombies, more weapons, MORE EVERYTHING! The series really strikes something in my brain that loves persona, devil survivor, and pikmin games.
If they did it justice, I think that’d be pretty bomb!

He was god damn beautiful. The homie could even do a flash kick like guile (it sucks but it's the thought that counts)

Me: (Cares nothing for Frank due to characters like Trunks, Leon, Cloud and I kid you not Raiden and swiftly "replaces" him a servbot and eventually with Mega Man X)

I love Dead Rising because the formula revolves around time. The time limit of the game makes everything you do in a main story/rescuing survivors playthrough feel like an accomplishment. It’s the reason why the game is addicting! And endears you more to the characters because you had to invest your precious time on them. A lot like a Persona game! XD
And the thing is, they give you enough time to do everything - It just takes dedication to understand it.
@@Mangakamen Yeah! Dead Rising 1 time can be pretty strict. But the time they give you is accommodating if you plan out your routes, use shortcuts, ….and maybe mix some powerful SUPER SONIC SPEED boosting smoothies XD
Dead Rising 2 I do like how it gives me more time to explore though. Because with how much more stuff there is to do and much more area to explore…. yeah they totally needed to Persona 4/5 the heck outta the Dead Rising formula with how Dead Rising 1 could be the og P3 of the DR series. Which again makes me engaged in what I could do in a playthrough or not, promoting replayability.
A fantastic start to the series holds up really well even if it has some issues here and there.
I don’t mind you covering the lawsuit case. I mean it is not new when it comes to Capcom games took inspiration. For example, there are time people thought Final Fight got inspiration of *Walter Hill’s movie Streets of Fire.* But the creator of Final Fight stated he wasn’t aware of the movie, he looked it up notice the similarities and he said this style of story was very popular back then" and many "fighting games made use of it" so "I guess we were part of that crowd!".

And it really conflictive when you want to buy something to support but you aware that something is associated with something controversial.
Like I am interested in this indie game call Tales of Kenzera. It video game looks it inspired by African culture and the game do look interesting.
But Tales of Kenzera was associated with sweet baby Inc. that where i am conflicted with say product I do want to support this indie game but concern about Sweet baby Inc.
And I, Common Sense is the Same A.I who vow to *“never”* give any money to Disney Lucasfilm. And it sucks really want to play Zombie Ate My Neighbor. I have never played.
Wish, you talk about Dead Rising Mobile App game, Kamen. In that game you play other characters aside Frank, like Brad, Carlito, or Jessie. It was fun. No story and no survivors but still fun
26:09 Yeah, I wanted to point this out, in your past Dead Rising Video, you did left out Dead Rising 3’ secret ending when it reveals that Isabella worked with Marion and they both started Outbreak in order to find Nick so later Isabela can make cure and clear her family name.
Honestly, That can lead to an interesting idea. What if a new dead Rising Protagonist (someone first name ends with a K) is survivor of Los Perdidos outbreak and they wants revenge on Isabella for causing the Outbreak.
It is a better idea than what we got from Dead Rising 4.
Nick Ramos and Diego Martinez are part of Carlito’s Orphans. Nick is 12th orphan and Diego is the 49th. But the orphans in the 1st game was different. As the 12th Orphan was a female name Lisa Jackson and 49th Orphan was Johann Collins. It could been a retcon or more. I’m just spit balling I am an idea machine.

I do own some of the games via the PS4 remasters sales but I still haven't touch them due to the whole time management thing.
IDK how to explain it clearly but I feel it's different to how Persona does it.
Persona's time management works with actions and events: you decide to partecipate in an event (part-time job, social link event, activity that can raise a stat, etc..). That is the action that makes time pass, doing nothing before deciding what to do, doesn't. In this game series, even waiting makes you lose time. Time that is important since everything has a time schedule, which includes the main missions. Meaning that I can fail the main mission and can't re-do it unless I restart the game (NG+ or not) because I screwed around too much.
IDK I feel like I would just pause the game in panic mode not knowing what's the most important thing to do in that moment.
Prob will sound odd for you since you're clearly a fan of Dead Rising. This is how I feel about the game, sorry :(

14:00 I'd be lying if I said "I hate to be that guy, buuuuuuuuuut....." as a matter of fact, I love being that guy. I'm with SphereHunter on this one, I don't get all the escort hate, git gud scrubs. It takes some getting use to, but it's fairly easy to get from one side of the mall to the other, especially after you start unlocking some of the fast travel options. Just don't go running off too far ahead, and remember you can set a destination marker by aiming and hitting the follow button. Frank will yell "Over there!" and your escorties will just go.

Gluttony = food
Greed = material possessions or money
Greed is about wanting something, gluttony is about excessive indulgence

sadly I am fan of dead rising but yet I didn't like dead rising 1, I bounced off that game hard
But then I played dead rising 2: case zero and dead rising 2 and I become a fan of the franchise
I never played off the record or case west but I did play dead rising 3 oh boy was that kinda crappy
I've heard dead rising 4 is really bad but I do remember Achievement Hunters doing hilarious LP series for the mini-golf mini-game.
Also like Chuck Greene over Frank West. I know 99% of dead rising fan base hates for my takes but I like dead rising 2 and not dead rising 1.
Off The Record is the GOAT
Unironically, James Gunn would be the perfect guy to make a Dead Rising movie. He would know how to balance the comedy and serious moments of Dead Rising as a franchise B)))))))))))
The Wii version…is unfortunately my first exposure to the series, and I could tell something was off about it even if I hadn’t owned a ps3/360 at the time…
Sad how Capcom franchises have died or in hibernation because Capcom wants to focus on only a few select franchisee. They are doing better now but they made to many mistakes in the past.

Honestly. I really HATE everything that has to do with times gameplay experiences. So whilst I loved the world and concept of DR I hated that mechanic. So I was Pleasently surprised when there was WII Version coming out without that. I also didn't really care for that grafical downgrade that much and just enjoyed my time with it.
