This song put Funkadelic on the map as an acid-rock classic. This guitar riff is ranked number 5 for the greatest guitar riffs of all time. Eddie Hazel phenomenal guitar playing had him touted as the next Jimi Hendrix. This song as you stated Jammin, is showcasing Eddie's musical talent. There is another Funkadelic song which showcase Bernie Worrell's synthesizer wizardry titled "Tales Of Kidd Funkadelic".

The intro lyrics are straight from the acid trip they were all on when they created this song, lol. It's atmospheric, ambient and anticipatory. I can't help but disappear into the track mentally and I don't even get high.
You know this I'm sure but George said to Eddie imagine your mother has just passed. Eddie & Glenn & Michael & Bootsy in the same band. And they talk about supergroups. As we say in Englandor the east end of London...your having a bubble mate (Bubble bath = laugh)

Much of the music of that time frame was produced for quadrophonic sound where the sounds were distributed to four speakers spread around the four corners of the room Superstition is another good example.

I have to tell you brother, this is the classic album version but I must STRESS: listen to the LIVE version of this played on the "One Nation Under A Groove" album. Great as this is, the live cut is FAR superior. Far more COHERENT. You can UA-cam a live version by going "Maggot Brain Eddie Hazel". The live version features "battling" guitar solos by the great Eddie Hazel (RIP) and Michael "Kid Funk" Hampton (alive and kick'n). It's an experience.
