I'm glad you've taken comment advice to heart :) Some more advice, you can always throw trains around. If they're on the yellow line, you can move them to a different station on the yellow line, or a different coloured line entirely. It's a cheap way to stop timers from running
You're now almost as good as me, despite you having played a lot less, so I only have two pieces of advice that you may follow if you choose: 1) Train lines crossing each other anywhere other than at a station will slow down any train at the crossing. It can sometimes be the right thing to do anyway, but it's something to be aware of. 2) It can be handy to keep one line and train in reserve to quickly fix an overcrowding station. Place the line, let the train load and depart, erase the line. The train will continue to its destination, and then return to your pool of placeable things. The downside is that you're using one fewer lines on an ongoing basis than you technically have available.
Maybe when you start to have bad congestion at certain stations, it's time to delete the lines and rework them again? Once you start getting a lot of stations on the board, you'll be able to make more efficient routes by removing the lines and making new ones :)
One more tip: loop lines must travel in single direction because travelers only choose the shortest route. If a loop only travels in one direction, they have no choice but to board the train.
I once followed the actual train lines from real life on this game and it actually became self sufficient. I didn’t even have to do anything and kept going till I had like 100k points
Considering that the game is rarely kind enough to give as many lines as some cities have, or to place stations in geographically correct locations, that doesn't really work for me most of the time.
When it gets really busy on all the line Don’t be afraid to pause the game and just start again. When you know where all the stations are you can rejig everything to work better from scratch rather than making what you already have work
for lines vs carriages you have to keep in mind, carriages increase your capacity, while lines only improve your shape organisation. you need a healthy mix of both. also circlular lines arent strictly better, you can control which stations get frequented more or less with non-circular lines, while on circular ones all get frequented equally.
You should try to interconnect the lines on different points so that they don't have only 1 drop-off point but multiple, otherwise, the stations further from a drop-off point will overcrowd
My personal strat is to have certain lines loop with others used as connecting lines to said loops. Not sure if it's the best strategy ever but it works for a bit.
Hey RCE, if you make all the angles on your line at stations 90⁰ or greater, your trains won't stop at a station with no passengers. Also, the big triangle increases transfer speed so it can load/unload faster
If I have an extra line, I always try to make a line that connects all the random shapes (so one of each shape on the line) but is the shortest line (so it's like the fast track of getting to every shape on the map). But try to make sure it connects into as many other lines as possible as well!
I'm so mad because I've been playing this like two months now and didn't realize you could redraw things while paused. I often get top 15% on dailys and somehow never fucking knew this

These games don’t teach the physics, math, or science necessary for engineering by a long shot, but playing with simulations that are based on real-world data, or, theoretical equations to some extent, can offer a physical understanding and intuition for such systems that use the engineering skills and knowledge, which is important, too.
Interchanges transfer passengers off of the stop much more quickly, so if you have somewhere connected to lots of places IE: the square on the right, they'l be good
