I imagine this is how Melbournes train system was running. "Train arriving in 3 minutes" 2 minutes later "Your train has been cancelled", A moment later we see the giant engineering hand in the sky picking up our train and moving it to another train line.
This happened on my first time taking the DB from Frankfurt to Cologne. I was expecting a giant hand to deliver a train. P.S I was playing Mini Metro then too lol.
Just a note Matt, that if you get all the extra lines right away when there's less complexity, it removes that option later on when you need bridges/interchanges/carriages. Generally powering through all the line upgrades gives you more flexibility later.
8:45 Actually, the opposite is true. The Stockholm Metro is currently adding 17something stations to the network, all of which will be underground. The reason for this is partially because of Stockholms geography, if all of it is underground you don't have to build bridges all of the time to get to Stockholms numerous islands.
@@CABOOSEBOB well.. of cause that is true. And Stockholm does have several subway bidges. And Stockholm is very mountains. Can be over grund at on station and be deep in the moutain at the next with out the train going up or down.
The reason why there are so many rivers here in sweden is because stockholm is by the coast and sweden has the most islands in the world. Fun fact: there is a stop in stockholm which is called "triangeln" (you can guess what that means) and it better be a triangle stop. EDIT: THE TRIANGELN STOP IS IN MALMÖ NOT STOCKHOLM SORRY
FINALLY, Matt decides to delete absolutely everything and redesign things. I think that it would've saved him in a few circumstances before, honestly. 😀
Two somewhat tips; Highlighting the circles at the bottom allow you to quickly and easily delete an entire line The red line failed so often (the 14:20 design) because the trains traveling in that direction only look for stations that it can hit going that direction. To better explain it, when traveling from the square station to the “rightward” tracks, it’ll never pick up any square passengers, then once it passes the second triangle station, it’ll no longer pick up any other passengers until it reaches the end of the line.
Quick tip :) if you want to delete a line, you can click on the color ball corresponding to the color of the line and then click on the little black x that then shows on the ball:) love the vids btw!
Something i have learned is that sharp bends at a station slow things down. You can kind of adjust the paths to make bends less sharp, which means trains go faster when passing though.
2:50 And suddenly you actually implemented the actual two first subway lines in Stockholm. 🙂 (Well, almost that rightmost circle doesn't exist, there is still no subway station anywhere near that place).
I think I would have died laughing if someone above you on the leader board was called "The Architect" just imagine the drive in you to beat them lol 😆
Here's a challenge you could try: use as few locomotives as possible, preferably only one per line. But attach as many carriages to it as you can. Let's see how far you can get with just a few super long trains
Are lines not always better than new/expanded carriages? They come with a carriage and you can drop it right on any station that needs help, and once you get them all they don't appear in rewards any.ore so you get better selections
They don't come with a locomotive. You get a locomotive no matter what each week. Carriages expand total passenger carrying capacity so they are almost always better
Stockholm was my best map so far. I got top 1% on my first go. I was forced to get creative early on to connect all the land regions with two loops with the number of bridges I had. It turned out to be a good pattern that totally carried me because I could take more lines and carriages at weeks ends.
I noticed the trains are not picking up passengers if the line leads to a dead end, and would need to turn around before it arrived at a correct stop. If the lines are looped, then the passengers will always be picked up, because thier stop will always be forward (no dead end where train has to U-turn)
The RNG of these games are what make them entertaining to watch but not for me to want to play them. The ones that at least let you trade resources to buy what you need are FAR better balanced.
Stockholm is built on quite a lot of granite, so making tunnels for our subway *was* difficult. No idea if that's why the game gave you so few tunnels though. In the expansion of Stockholm's subway that's being built now, deep rock under Saltsjön, ("Salt lake", the water to the east of the south island "Södermalm" on the map), has forced the upcoming new station Sofia to have to become one of the deepest subway stations in the world.
Minor efficiency tweak, don't have lines cross each other outside of a station and try to keep all paths through stations at right or obtuse angles. Intersections outside of stations and acute angles waste time by slowing the trains down.
Well, the Metro (or Tunnelbana) in Sweden have tunnels. But in the game tunnels are for going under water and I think thats what this is about. Because bridges and tunnels under Lake Mälaren are few on the metro (and the road system). (The blue on the map is actually a lake and not a river)
4:02 the island could easily be reached. Either shorten the blue line on the left and link the circle to the end of the green line to free up a bridge or do what I did. Use all 5 bridges to make a loop from the south bank to the left island to the middle island to the square on the north bank to the new circle on the right island and back to the south bank. Use a second loop to join everything on the north bank including an overlap on the square for an interchange so diamond passengers can connect to the north bank loop. Edit: after continuing to watch I saw you took the first option. You did get hosed by not getting any more tunnels / bridges though.
I was stuck on Stockholm FOR AGES!! I got kind of used to it after a while, and when I finally completed it, I kind of missed the challenge it gave me and the many frustrations I had trying to figure it out :( I still go back and play that level every now and again...
Yo! Jace from Satisfactory was talking about you today on the dev stream!! Talking about getting you on to do Bridge reviews for Satisfactory!! PLEASE DO IT!!!!
Imagine getting to the end of that game, micro managing everything, only to finish with 1 train left unused in the bank. Doh! Just picked this game up on mobile. Much fun.
RCE you can run lines parallel with eachother, you keep saying you need more trains, you can add a line that goes to the same stops and you get 1 train with every line
You don't get "1 train with every line" though. You get 1 train each week regardless whether you pick the line, the carriage, or anything else the RNG throws at you.
I think the trains are underground, but not underground enough to be below the rivers. So they have to make, like, weird tunnel things through the rivers.
6:40 "that is so hideous" as he looks at the strongest shape, I am disappointed Matt Edit: you should do more station sharing between lines, then multiple lines can serve multiple stations reducing individual stress of each line
Whenever i play this game i try to make sure that every line has at least one of each shape on it. That way no passengers have to get off and change lines. It is hard to do on this map though because youll use tons of tunnels/bridges doing it
7:48 I would have probably used the brown line here to connect every second triangle and circle up to the square. I don't know if two colors need two tunnels, or if they can share one.
21:08 is the timestamp, when RCE fucks up and forgets he has extra train, only tries to use it on his main-line(blue) and fails. He should have just stuck that train to any other line.
