I had an idea where there could be a two player game where one person plays a Mini Metro playthrough while the other person plays Mini Motorways but they both play the same map simultaneously. Both players need to be on their toes as they will need to strategize on what the best way to place track and road as each store and station pop up in succession. I feel like this could get too complicated and hectic but I feel like it could be fun for the strategists out there.
"I finally optimized my motorways to account for train traffic, after five whole upgrades" _"I don't like how this rail is angled, I'ma change it real quick"_ "Oh for-"
I do like them but I wish they were a bit less zoomed in because it gets a bit disorientating sometimes. Maybe a quick zoom in and out transition/animation could help instead of the jump cuts
I wonder if they’ll add overpasses now that trains are a thing. Removing level crossings helps both the roads and trains go faster, so it would be interesting
My main strat for mini-motorways has always been a main road that everyone connects to. It works just fine as long as you know how to manage and you dont constantly have to think “oh i have to keep the different colors separated”
Crossing Mini Metro over to Mini Motorways is so obvious that I am shocked that they didn't do it earlier. Definitely gonna pick this back up after a long hiatus!
Learning about the segregation stuff absolutely ruined this game for me, oddly enough. I was in it for the traffic management, and realizing that the game incentivizes keeping your network as disconnected as possible just killed my interest in an instant, because it turns it into a different kind of puzzle than the one I wanted to solve. There's a very similar game that gets a lot closer to what I want called "All Quiet Roads", where buildings of a certain type spawn traffic headed for every other building type, but some types are more common than others. So your residential districts have different traffic requirements than the single airport servicing the whole city. In that way it feels a lot like a cross between Mini Motorways and Mini Metro. It's not nearly as pretty, but the subtle changes to the mechanics really improve things for me.
This is exactly what peeves me about this game. It heavily incentivizes making collections of neighborhoods, rather than functioning cities. Segregation is the best solution because the pins are incredibly colourist, rather than changing utilization based on traffic. Mini Metro has as much to do with civil engineering as BABA has to do with sheep: it's just an art choice.
AQR was almost taken off of steam because a certain, "larger game company" requested a cease and desist for being too similar to them.... I wonder who that could be 🤔 I actually majorly prefer Mini Motorways & Metro to AQR and I can for sure see the similarities, there is absolutely no denying that.... but it is just depressing to see a game company gain traction and then immediately try to monopolistically kill off it's competitors, especially from solo devs
That's your opinion, and I will respect it as long as you remember that there are people who prefer the puzzle this game offers of trying to find a way to seperate things with limited space.
I can't help but wonder if some traffic lights off the motorway exits would've helped your blue businesses toward the end there. Those areas were the main areas of slowdown, and maybe more efficient traffic would've saved you.
Or just spacing out the motorway exits from the business entrances, adding a roundabout if you have the space. Having road crossings right at the entrance of the businesses choked them.
Now imagine a 2 player co op version where one player is playing motor ways and the other is playing metro and they have to do their best to not screw each other on like a 2-3x size map
I feel like just connecting more houses to a building isnt enough, you also need to make sure the traffic flow is able to come in and out in a single direction. At the end, the blues seemed congested just trying to enter the parking lot with cars coming in on both sides, and coming out turning on both sides, which causes pauses every time
still baffles me that people don't see the value of traffic lights. You have 2 segregated lines where the most efficient path makes an X shape, that's what traffic lights are for
you do a really good job of reintroducing us back to the game w/o making it mundane / boring for regulars -- even ur editor highlighted when a business updates to a circle via a smol zoom in as u were talking about it. really appreciated but also super smart 👍
Wow, what my luck. After nearly 2 years of not playing, I decided to literally redownload it today. And of today of all days they released a big update
I wanna see you do a challenge run where every house must meet up on the same road FIRST, then that one main road goes to every business. You can play it on an easy map because it's an intentionally difficult challenge.
they would've likely saved the run for a good bit longer. Tyler is still under the impression that they're more of a hinderence like they were off release but now they're near roundabout levels of good

that's actually such an amazing idea but if I played this with my friends I'd end up in a Serbian cartels execution list
pvp or pve?
@@ghostbirdlary could have both as options, but I was mostly thinking of pve

they may go fairly unnoticed but the zoom edits are absolutely crucial to the video's quality. thank you so much, editors.
yeah the editors have really stepped their game up recently (mostly due to there being more i assume)
Just the boss !

True

I was thinking that too, but I think they want motorways be the only option for avoiding traffic entirely
@@theirishninja2070Yeah that would be bordering on being mini metro.
@@greenbirdgaming8691
How would an overpass turn it into MM? I don't remember that game having any roads at all.
if they add it it would probably take double the road tiles or somethin
an underrated aspect of what makes this game so anxiety inducing to watch is the slow constant zoomout
if only it was infinite
The trains are mechanically different because instead of slowly accumulating pins, the trains infrequently drop a bunch of pins at once
I didn't see it mentionned in the comments: the "double business" is actually a train station (makes sense that the pins appear when the train passes)
My main strat for mini-motorways has always been a main road that everyone connects to. It works just fine as long as you know how to manage and you dont constantly have to think “oh i have to keep the different colors separated”
Ya, but Tyler is big on segregation. lol
@@Nevir202Tyler Aliens “Separate but equal” Rock
But segregation is amazing
this is VERY inefficient as it will clog up beyond belief

so grateful im able to watch tyler run a train on his city's residents
what 💀
I guess he's still pegging us, even with a different game.

Finally, mini motorways is based! We can have public transportation.
So happy you came back to mini motorways, love watching you play this game
I feel like the blue got stuck at the exit of motorways. When they merge, they go 1 for 1 which is way suboptimal. Traffic lights should help there
2:22 nice road number
I don't know how I haven't seen this till now, but this was one of my favorite series to watch back in the day!
I forgot the satisfaction of seeing Tyler optimize roadways. Like putting the final piece of the puzzle in. Everything just fits… until it doesn’t.

This is why I cover the places where I do not want stuff to spawn with dummy roads

Its the logical next step in the evolution. They had a train/metro game followed by a road game. Now they only need to combine them
@@Teddy_Bear312i was just thinking this - the two universes combined to the ultimate transportation puzzle game.
At 15:45 a blue car gets lost and drives into a pink house before turning around due to Tyler getting rid of roads.

2:10 We all know the real reason you took that bridge was to get to 69 roads
the "tom cruise in a mission impossible film" bit on the edit is so fire lmao
Not gonna lie, seeing you with over 100 roads and not using them to business block made my head throb.
I think you should explore using stoplights when you have 2 motorways. It would solve so much of the congestion!
Bro just combined mini motorways and mini metro.
Ya think blue was panicking because the train holds up the traffic longer at the edge, when changing direction?

Maybe traffic lights at those locations where 2 motorways feed into the same business would have helped.
