    In my Master Herbalist course, we learned if you needed your oil sooner you can use a yogurt maker. Put the herbs in a small jar with the oil and allow to just warm. It will take the medicinal properties out quicker and allow you to use sooner.

      How long would you leave it in the yogurt maker?

    • @happyhippie4968
      @happyhippie4968 Рік тому +1

      @tasteofheavenhomestead8553 I typically will do it for about 4 to 6 hours. If the oil hasnt changed colors, you can leave it for a few more. It fentlybwarms the oil which allows the medicinal properties to be extracted from the herbs.

    Plantain is EXTREMELY effective for mosquito bites. I got stung by one of these big mosquitoes and it hurt and very intense itching started immediately. I quickly tore a plantain leave from a plant, broke it up and rubbed it between my fingers to release the oil, and rubbed the oil on the mosquito bite. It stopped itching immediately and never itched again. That was not the first time that I used plantain for skin issues; it's immediately effective.

    Thank you for the video! I've been doing simple things like teas for a few years now, but I've really been feeling a pull to take things further this year. Could you give us a tour of all the herbal things you have on hand? Not just the finished products, but the "supplies" such as dried herbs and oils waiting to be made into something else. I've been collecting and dehydrating things as I learn they would be beneficial, and I would love to get more ideas. Your uncomplicated approach to everything really is a big draw to your channel for me, and I would love to get as much info on this from you as I can!

    Right on target! I've got so many medicinal plants, planted by me & also naturally coming up by theirselves on my large city lot. This year I am so happy that I've finally been harvesting some. Drying or sticking in oil. Yay me, but I have no idea what I'm gonna do with it.
