I know a guy who used to do fire and rescue for Canada, he was essentially heli supply for firefighters and really anything else that needed it supplies. One time they had to go out to an oil rig. They had a Maverick that couldn’t get that far. So they asked the US for help and apparently in typical states fashion they sent a Chinook, which he said was way overkill for what they needed to do.
Just thought you’d find it funny coming from someone in a different country who has worked with the US military. It’s stuff like that, that makes people believe the US is a arrogant country. I personally believe they have so many toys that they take every opportunity to use them.

  • @eastcoaster77

They would have to come through Canada or Mexico to get anything on US soil. That in itself would be a daunting task. Canada would also be defending North American Soil whether it’s in Canada (my homeland) or USA. It would have to be a strictly long distance weapon approach and again. They better come hard and fast because the amount of force heading anyone’s way who decides to take us on would be unmatched in history.

There is a little caveat regarding the comparison in budgets. If you compare mediocre equipment to high level state of the art and also the fact that for example Chinese workforce/ laborers probably cost a fraction of an American worker, well then those numbers are insignificant in the discussion.

Oh, nukes were just as powerful then as they are now.
The Russians detonated the most powerful nuke in 1961.
It was called the Tsar bomb. It had a yield of 50 Megatons, or 50,000 kilotons.
The bomb dropped on HIroshima only had a yield of 16 kilotons.
    50,000 vs 16. Unimaginably powerful.
But all that aside, growing up in the 80s was fun, especially when you knew the entire world could be ended 100's of times over and over again in less than an hour.

In theory it is possible that an enemy could land troops and take some cities along one of the coasts. However it is extremely doubtfull that they could then hold the terratory, even if the official army and navy had already been neutralised. To fight across US terratory from one coast to the other would be such a massively huge slog in terms of troop losses. The shear amount of terratory they would need to cover and patrol along with the fact that there are more guns than people in the USA means that there is absolutely no chance that you can take and hold terratory inland just because you would be drowning in irregular troops taking pot-shots - and that's before the government gets its act together and starts working on an organised response.

    • @pmccoy8924
      @pmccoy8924 Рік тому

Let's say they go W coast. It's likely coming from that direction. They have 6 AF bases, 7 Army, 2 CG, 2 Joint, 7 Marine, 9 Navy. That is California alone. 1 Army in OR, 3 AF, 2 Army, 4 Navy in WA. Leave 50 miles from the coast and you have civilians in even those states armed to the gills. Nothing is coming from the S lets be honest. They have their own militias as neighborhoods. The good ol' boys aren't messing around. You go N they are armed to the teeth. Those corn fed midwestern hicks don't mess around either. That leaves the E which is heavily fortified in proximity to DC. They also have the Carolinas who are good ol' boys. They might have a shot through far NE. Might. Even then, there are bases all up and down the NE as well.

20:00 I don't know about all that. Real life is too dynamic for AI to run your war and you only have a small fraction of reliable intel to program into it. It simply isn't going to know enough, fast enough, to give directions. AI is good at chess because all parameters are known. All enemy locations are known. All possible enemy moves are known. AI in a real world situation would be lucky to have 5% of that information. Also the situation is just too dynamic. We will be out of energy and already have had a nuclear war before AI is that advanced, if ever.
Plus the USA also invests heavily in these areas and has the shared knowledge of its allies.

Even the good ones had severe limitations in basic world wide history, basic geography, basic theology and understanding why would anyone need to know anything about those subjects and how they could be applicable to anything, like foreign policy decision making and other dumb boring shit after all playing football and drinking beer is more fun. Selective service is a moot point. 18-35, about 10% are in physical shape to fight. In that 10% maybe 60% would even be able to serve based on their past medical history i/e medication, surgery. Which is why so many with useless college degrees aren't looking into reservist roles currently. Be a good way for them to pay off student loans through service, be an officer, learn new skills. Not happening and not even being mentioned. Average person that age male or female is out of shape and unfit to serve.

I think today a lot of people immediately go to the assumption that the US can never be invaded because of its location and advanced military/technological power, but this kind of thinking is dangerous to never even consider all these sort of factors failing us, all it takes is a handful of strong countries to gather around and devise a plan to determine which country tackles one individual factor of the US’s many defenses. I feel like Americans won’t even entertain the possibility that we can be invaded. This is probably why i like Red Dawn so much

I see your point on always being aware of weakness and stuff, but even if the US was pathetically weak, the logistical nightmare that would be crossing an ocean would be hell, and that is assuming the US won't attack their boats. Plus, the invading enemy has to deal with almost every biome, and has to hold an enormous piece of land. Add into the fact that the entire population would be making insurgencies and militias the second you made a foothold, and yeah, they're pretty safe.

That is not counting all the AR style, AK style, and tons more that roam the lands in the states. Great Britain was immune from foreign invasion, during the last 1000 years, because of the 42 Km English Channel, that some people have crossed swimming.
To even think that any one could cross thousands of miles of oceans to invade the continental US is totally idiotic.
For most Americans war is something that happens somewhere else since the US did not see the devastation of a war since the end of the Civil War in 1865.
On the other hand, all Europeans that experienced the devastation of WW2, are not eager to relive it (including Russia believe it or not).
However the video is flawed in simply comparing military spending, because it is not how much money one spends but what can be bought with this money..
Also comparing the WW2 role of the US with the situation today, is also wrong.
Back in WW2 the US was outside bomber range, so it's industrial base could support the allied forces and then helped rebuild the countries that were devastated by the war.
The mistake in thinking that the US could do the same thing in a WW3 is that today the US is not outside the range of ICBMs.
Any conflict escalating to WW3 will involve nuclear weapons at one time or an other and this will not leave much afterwards anywhere on Earth..
Albert Einstein once said that he didn't know how WW3 would be fought, but WW4 would be fought with sticks and stones.

Russia supposedly has 30 of these, that have 10 000 NM range and terminal speed over 60 Knots.

Considering invasion into USA it would certainly need/mean some sort of collapsion or revolution in the US to have even a light chance of success. But even then one must remember that USA seems to have more military power outside of the mainland USA than inside USA, so it most like would mean having US Marines or Navy charging behind the invaders. So it defenitely is a no go.
But as USA is so used to solving problems with weapons, USA doesn't seem to have much diplomatic skills as a nation. If USA would be as great as they seem to think them selves to be, I'd imagine USA could bend and give way at certain things up on negotions and find another way of doing things peacefully instead of threaten with a gun and force others to act in their way. Most of the time, if not all the time USA seems to act as a bully rather than a nite and nice guy when in relations with the other nations. And nobody really likes a bully. But as long as you are under powered you just sympathizes and follows the bully instead of resorting to direct violence and resistance. It is wise not to argue with an idiot, but to try to convince the idiot himself of his own stupidity. USA may think it's been respected or loved, but in many cases it is rather a case of immense fear and hidden hatred than genuine appreciation and respect.
The USA is not much known for its humanitarian work or helping, but mainly for its stubborn pursuit of self-interest and contempt for other nations. And that's a real shame, because many individual citizens of the United States are quite nice and very well-behaved individuals. Nowadays, it's less common to come across such idiots who imagine that US citizenship gives some special rights abroad. Or those who imagine that the US Constitution and other laws apply worldwide. However, there is also a lot of experience with such rednecks from past decades.
