With the Aussies and US running the show, the endex BBQ must be off the scale!
We Aussies trained with The 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army the last couple days of TS. Those guys are awesome. They love to have a laugh and are genuinely great company. They said they weren’t too happy about their jump though, it was a bit rough. Marines, however, are a bit more rowdy and chaotic😂
Haha sounds about right
Lmao well said brother chuckle spec.
Avice one : no matter who, day and much else, water on hand even if kicks up weight
We had protesters outside of the barracks in the town next to this exercise years ago with fire twirlers and anti nuke signs and chanting.. hippy stuff.
We lived across the road and hung up a support sign for the our guys and the marines.. ,"Thanks for 1945, Marines are welcome anytime!!"... Accompanied by Jimi Hendrix belting out Star Spangled Banner.
Police made us shut down the music but, we must have made an impression on the Marines. They delivered a large etching of their unit symbol and a C130 landing in the dirt covered in thank you's and well wishes from the unit.
Always glad to see all the gear and cooperation in the region during exercise Wallaby
Mate, serving in the RAN in 1988 during the Bicentennial Naval Salute in Sydney harbour we had protesters in boats next to our ship shouting to us, “Go home Yanks!” Despite the red kangaroo on our funnel…
@@NoName-ds5uq 😂😂😂 the more things change the more they stay the same huh ahahaha
I was on Talisman Sabre in 2011. It's still the biggest military exercise in the Southern Hemisphere. We had Kiwis, Yanks, Poms, Japanese and more...
First 3 weeks are a blank fire exercise, goes live fire for the remainder after that. Army, Navy and Air Force are all involved.
A pity they don’t show the after party after the training was over, time for all the dudes to chill and hang out.
Saw one where US Marines and Korean servicemen were rapping and dancing, man that was really fun to watch the allies having some fun after working so hard for the training.
kit quality result of small military size with a large (and increasing) defence budget. Awesome video
It’s not really a small military though is it in terms of size vs population they have 70k active military personal and a population of 25 million.
@@RoswellCrash relative natio vs nation it is small but that's OK we don't need big we have quality and that's king
@@solreaver83 not necessarily. Navy and Air Force are most important in defence of Australia. Army is MADE for force projection literally to assist the US. It’s basically a ‘we help you so please god help us when China attacks’ mentality.
@@Zei33 that has absolutely no impact on what I said
It started yesterday for 2 weeks, 13 nations, 2 weeks prior there was a US and Aust Raaf exercise first time out of the US, awesome living here seeing so much cool hardware
"North Korean General Status" 😂😂.. I was thinking that the other day watching their military parade thinking to myself "What's that man done exactly to earn those medals?".
My first thought went tp that scene in Downfall where the Soviet officers were rushing to put medals on their chest before the German delegation arrived.
I am wondering why the name tag is on the left side when it should be on the right side. What is with the dog tags hanging out of a dress uniform? Is that a presidential unit citation on the left side? Is that PFC badges on the collar and sergeant chevrons on the arms? I had always thought the globe and anchor badges were on the collar, and not rank.
Is it different in the USMC or are we looking at an imposter here? My apologies if I'm wrong.
Another scrimp of the Barbie. 🤣🤣
Hey man, just found your channel and loving the content! I jumped into Australia as part of Talisman Sabre 2015 and had an awesome time. It's definitely set up as a major operational exercise showcasing NATO response capabilities in the Pacific region. 17 hour flight from Anchorage, Alaska to our DZ in Australia. It was a long flight 🥱
Better get that flight time down for when you come save us from china invasion lol..
Hi mate,
I really enjoy your reacts vids. I lost count of how times I did this Ex, I was Cav in the ASLAV I was also a umpire for it. I Aussie brigade is OpFor with another as BlueFor with units from the remain AUS military plus foreign militaries.
The land battle goes just short of a week, which Involves all services. Naval and Airforce goes a little longer and then joins in.
The US Para fly from their base in the US to do the jump. It’s not rehearsed but leading up to the Ex we conduct a lot of training. In saying that we do the same training every year regardless of the Exercise.
I believe the year of this one, the occupied a real town with locals going about there daily lives.
TS is the biggest exercise we do in Australia, it's a bi-yearly exercise, focus around Australian and US military, they allow other nations to jump in on the exercise, but it's mostly American and Australian.
I've been apart of 4 now, last years was all over North Queensland it was pretty good.
You Capitalist Running Dog Lackeys may have triumphed this time. But rest assured we shall return. LONG LIVE FREE KAMARIA!!!! lol
The Shoalwater Bay military training area where those amphibious landings happen is 4,545 km², which is larger than 29 countries. Plenty of room for lots of different environments and training exercises. It is not, however the largest Australian military base. That would be the Woomera RAAF base which at around 122,188 sq km (47,000 sq miles) is a little larger than North Korea and larger than 98 countries. Australia has plenty of space for military activities.
This guy isnt a marine. He is pos computer game player.
Woomera is a testing ground now, mainly US on what is left of the base and a fair few contractors ( like the ones testing the scramjet engines and such) similar to Port Parham Proof and Experimental Establishment. I'm pretty sure there is a lot of other things happening there that non military wouldn't have a clue on though
Loved working and swapping gear with the guy’s from the USMC 👍🏻🇦🇺 for years we were always jealous of all the gear the US Military had, we had the same stuff from the Vietnam war for ever and then when we did finally get cams it was the same stuff we had in green except this time it had hearts and bunnies all over it, I’m glad the Australian Military has finally started catching up with some good high speed gear 👍🏻🇦🇺
Holy crap that's a chest if ribbons you must have been on every rotation since ancient Rome
Shoal water bay is a great training area, especially for RAEME, they spend weeks preparing their tools for the Ex, and months working on their crab pots and fishing gear :)
When you have training environments that incorporate actually towns with people doing their daily shit. And it can take days to get to, and one exercise area is bigger than Europe we're pretty spoilt for training quality outcomes and kit. But it hasn't always been the case.
Back when defence policy was bullshit, the kit was ordinary. But the training was still rock hard and lads have always been sharp, because we have two up tempo approaches being the RAR and it's non Inf partners in Cav and combat Engineers, then Socom and the SOER's.
Most reserve units (or territorial's as known in some countries) would stack up well against regular units from most countries. And as an old crusty who's seen the transition from mid 80's to now, I'm always impressed by the quality soldiering of our combat units, and the combat support units.
Theo you might have to see if you can get on rotation to Aus. Or at least participate in one of our exercises
Talisman Sabre 2023 is gonna be the biggest one ever, over 30000 troops taking part
You're right, it's a long operation and does try cover every aspect from day, night, bush ops, CQB, mechanised. You just do your small part, cause it's often run it is pretty reasonable smooth with clear defined objectives but still some hurry up and wait. But it's great opportunity to be involved in though
"Fun for everybody" 😂😂😂😂
Glad to have you protecting the free world love your videos 👍😎
Thank u 4 sharing👍😉
Hit me up I took part in the ex multiple times can give you a full break down, the gear they are using isn't being picked and chosed, and the reason they look so slick is its normal the culmination of a years training, and/or pre deployment, the infantry units are just our regular infantry or the royal austrlia Regiment, the last ex I took part in was 6 weeks long
Also the paratroopers aren't paratroopers they woulda either been 1 or 2 commando or SASR
@@diggergaming7174 could also be 3RAR Paras ... Maroon Beret.
I did my first jump in Darwin with them prior to my discharge from the ARA. (Note: I was 1JMOVGP not 3RAR)

@@keithbuddrige5064 3 rar doesn't have the capability anymore to do any kind of a jump they are now mechanised
VERY funny video intro cobber, great content overall, well done and thank you. That logo did look bad ass!
Love the kit, great video 😅
These videos always make TS look good, god damn I hate the accumulated time over the years that I've spent there.
You absolutely, positively do not want to mess with Australians and New Zealanders.
You want them on your side.
Remember when we’re talking about Australian kit and equipment (especially after the 2022 procurement), few soldiers, lots of money. Can essentially afford to kit everyone out with decent gear because there are so few active duty but the budget is very decent.
Goosebumps from that
i cant say what training excersize (im a civilian) but i do remember having an excersize like this done in town it was a very intresting experience esspecially being completely unaware of the situation and suddenly having bushmasters surrounding our neighbourhood. anyone that is intrested it was in ingham in fnq.
I got the opportunity to do this in 2016. My advice to anyone that can put there name down to do this should.! It’s getting better and more involved every year.
The naval aus camo is cool af
TALISMAN 23 IS TAKING place at this moment. first time Germany being invited. stay safe mate.
Getting ready for TRS23, meant to be 10X bigger!
TS in 2021 was a lot smaller and shorter than it has been in previous years I believe, mainly due to covid of course. I've been on about 4 of these throughout my career, the longest time in the field just on ex was 3 months, that was painful let me tell ya. There is a week long culmination activity concluding with a combined arms LFX, which is pretty cool to see.
Talisman Sabre is a multinational military exercise that takes part over several weeks and across multiple training facilities/military ranges, sometimes even using local civilian towns. The purpose is to allow partner nations to train together in a realistic situation that brings all areas of the ADF and partner nations into play. The exercise allows for not only small unit training but large scale training. The exercise brining's together units, corps and branches of cooperating militaries that normally wouldn't train together allowing them to learn to operate in the larger spectrum of warfare and involves a combined few thousand soldiers, sailors, airmen/women & marines from participating nations.
Army reserves also get involved in this excercise usually contributing about 150 odd soldiers and command and control personnel.
@@gregorturner9421 from time to time but my old man (a 30yr + Combat Engineer veteran in ADF, still serving) who has worked at reserve regiments multiple times has never seen chocos go off for large scale exercises. It does happen but if a 30yr + veteran hasn’t seen it, it obviously doesn’t happen very often.
Your RM tag was apt. 40 Commando was represented at Talisman Sabre 2021.
I did mate. 3-4 weeks. Lots of planning leading up to it. Kinda similar to Rimpac. It's pretty fun. But yeah typical hurry up and wait and maybe something happens for a little bit.
Congrats on the medal Theo😉
Talisman Sabre 23: 13 Nations, 15 Major Events, 35,000 personnel
pretty sure the people at the beginning were OPFOR
Hey there from Philippines 🇵🇭
Aussies quality over quantity
talisman sabre is a mixture of different activities culminating in a big landing exercise.
its to promote the countries working together. reservists are also involved and it can take a year to spin them up to take part in this activity.
It's a huge operation we do almost annually if nothing comes up like covid etc. It involves everyone, from our infantry, mechanised, tanks, navy, helicopters, planes, amphibious ops and obviously joint with other militaries. The mission will change, but it's generally as noticed the guys wearing black rifle and not in camo are enemy, as normal grunt you may play a certain role but it's designed to test every element of the defence and work with our counterparts so your seeing the variety of units taking part. It's consistent thing that's run, just depends if it's your turn and what role you play and what mission is that time but always involves all force elements
I was an CRV (LAV) Troop Sergeant in that exercise last year.....
Yep, US Marine Corps Rotational Force
If you want to make another video about Finland, You should react to the Etelä-Kymi 21 exercise.
Australia love and support the Fins! 🦅⚡We see Finland in the news more and more. 💪
You look like a Red Army Corporal with all those medals, ribbons and things 😉
Epic cap too
We don't tend to rehearse, Navy ALWAYS operated as though under war time conditions, but these are run as true to life encounters, no rehearsals as far as I am aware, turn up, get the bloody job done, go home and get ready for what's next. We also had Chinese intel ships close so things were adjusted to limit Intel gathering
I remember that kerfuffle. Chinese definitely made a nuisance of themselves at Shoalwater Bay during TS21. BIG tossup within government and defense force how to remove them peacefully.
Their jumping above Tyndall RAAF Base.
Although not armed forces. You should look at a guy named Cpt Eric winkle Brown. What an extraordinary guy.
Normally there a new Zealand Infantry company and or a mounted rifles company at these things acting as a scouting element
the guys jumping were 1-2 commando regiment and Australia doesnt have navy pilots, we have navy heli pilots but not navy fighter craft pilots.
Oh and I was" killed in action" and a marine picked up my styer and did a full auto burst I almost got done for a Nd but I was dead hahaha
Hah, a Rodd n Gunn hat. Kind of an old English hunt style clothing store in Australia and New Zealand
the Land Warfare Land 400 is a huge upgrade to the aus army pretty much every front line riffle man gets the same kit its a army re work shod look in to it
Set up comms for this over a number of years. Its opfor stuff with a lot of live firing day and night across land air and sea. It goes for a month. The intent is to develop interoperability between the various nations and its massive. Held at shoel water bay which is a large military live firing facility. Held every two years and the scale is insane. All of what i have said is public domain knowledge.
With around 30,000 participants from all of the services involved it is the biggest exercise held here.👍🇦🇺🇺🇸
We spend currently 46 billion dollars annually on defence for a force of 100,000 breaking down too $460,000 per individual. America spends around 650 billion for a force of around 2,000,000 that's around 325,000 per individual.
Nice Walter Mitty outfit there 🤣
This Talisman exercise takes in our Norforce soldiers & airman out of Darwin & Katherine where there is also a contingent of ~2500 US marines that continually cycle in and out of Darwin on a regular basis.
Never forget how Australian troops get told off because they use slang over their radios and non-Aussie allies couldn't comprehend their meaning

At first, I thought that you were serious, and I felt so sorry, but then I understood that you were joking.
most of the excersice takes part around shoalhaven in queensland. and as you said they practice multiple operations training together so in a real war it all clicks. so not only the soldiers/marines but also the hq's.
No offense intended, but please get it right. It's Shoalwater Bay. North- East of Rockhampton, Queensland where bulk of exercise is held. Full list is shown here. 'TS21 exercise activities are planned to occur in inland Queensland including Hughenden, the Charters Towers region, ADF Townsville Field Training Area (TFTA), Atherton and Mareeba coastal locations including Bundaberg, Stanage Bay peninsular, ADF Shoalwater Bay Training Area (SWBTA), Bowen, Proserpine, Ingham region, Lucinda, Forest Beach, ADF Cowley Beach Training Area (CBTA), Innisfail, Cairns and RAAF Scherger, as well as Evans Head in NSW.

@@geradkavanagh8240 none taken. I haven't been directly involved but worked with UNSWR who was a feeder unit into 5BDE. Usually when TS happens they ask for a small force of reserve soldiers to be supplied, mostly by 41RNSWR who are an infantry reserve unit and officers to help in the planning phase and in HQ during the actual excercise. The whole spin up process might take 18 months for the reserves to ramp up their training until they are training enough to take part due to the part time nature of their service (tues nights, some weekends and maybe 2 weeks a year)
Good stuff,i think theyve selected the clips and hooked them up to give a seamless look.propaganda we call it when the enemy do it.but its a good movie anyway.and the guys and gear will get it done, cheers.
