- Goldtop has a reputation for great quality riding gear, and when it came to picking out a new leather jacket, of course, there was only one name in my head. I plumped for the '72 Easy Rider which is a re-make of the classic Easy Rider from 1972. Here is my take on it after a couple of months of ownership.

Tony great to meet you today at Gold Top whilst buying my 2nd pair of their excellent Bobber Gloves. I’ve already got a couple of their cotton t-shirts- great quality. Looking forward to getting my hands on the Easy Rider jkt and feel confident, having seen how yours loosened up in the arms and chest that it’s the jacket for me. Keep bringing us great content and hopefully see you again up there or out in the lanes of the Essex and Herts borders.
Thanks Jon, great to meet you too, thanks Coe dropping by. It’s was because of this jacket that I decided to help the Goldtop guys out with their new shop. I’m sure we’ll be able to sort a little ride out soon
Just purchased a Flat Tracker jacket and am truly delighted - outstanding quality. Your review was very useful. Cheers Brady
That’s a lovely jacket, it should bring you many years of faithful service.
Nice to see a vintage design with modern standards. Great review as always 👍🏻
Cheers Dave
I bought a Rebel jacket and it's the best jacket I own and looks right on trend when riding the Royal Enfield Classic 500. They will hold off the odd shower if you treat with the wax that I bought with the jacket.
As one who asked for the review, I appreciate you taking the time to make it. I remember the Easy Rider from the original range (although back then I thought it a bit ‘flash’ 🙄). I had a pair of Goldtop boots that lasted years and years and it looks like the latest stuff will do the same. Will check out the range as soon as the lockdown is lifted. Keep safe!
Thanks Simon, I expect this to last me a very very long time
Wow! it looks so good on you, a perfect fit truly!
Thanks Jordan, it’s certainly the right jacket in the range for me
I have one of their jackets the 76 cafe racer and I agree the quality is fantastic. I also found the service from Goldtop great, very helpful and easy to deal with. Great review thanks.
They are diamonds over at Goldtop.
Great review...I'm fully stocked for jackets, glove and boots but checked out Goltop on your recommendation...Really cool T Shirt on its way!!
Nice!
Just watched this again. I am moving back to England next spring and have decided to buy a Goldtop. The 1959. It's the collar I really like. I've decided the fixed lining is not a problem in England. It's rarely that hot, whatever the current nonsense claims. Nick J
Not moving back now. Too expensive in England. No need for leather jackets where I am. Too hot. Steve McQueen? You look just like Peter Fonda in that. Jack Nicholson would approve of you.
I have a Goldtop jacket and gloves. Only one problem: they are addictive. Best quality and value for money I’ve found in 30+ years biking.
Yes, they seem to bring out the ‘Collector’ in me
379 is a bargain. So much better than some of the thin leather trendy offerings from certain London outlets. I want a Goldtop.
All of their stuff is so well priced.
Great review, I love the Goldtop items I own, brilliant quality and great service. Thanks for the review & your continued updates...regards Ross
No problem Ross, thanks for watching
@@mancavemoto Goldtop vs belstaff ?
They both have a Jackets which look quite similar .
Belstaff outlaw vs goldtop 76
That’s an easy one for me, hands down Goldtop...the quality is excellent and the 76 cafe racer is £966 cheaper than the outlaw!!
@@mancavemoto hahah true that .
But irrespective of the price ?
Like quality vs quality ? Who tops ?
Oh ok, still Goldtop for me.The leather and attention to detail is superb. The Knox microlock armour is really good too
The Goldtop looks nice and it reminds me of Vanson Leathers here in the US. I have two of their custom suits. The '72 would make a very nice "street" jacket. Thanks for including the blooper section at the end as I've been there myself, cursing included.
I can see that, Vanson is another long established brand. Yep I thought I’d add that in the credits, it never always goes right first take
@@mancavemoto So true. Stay safe.
Thanks for this review Tony.. You have made my mind up for me!! Keep up the good work mate👍🏻
No problem Keith
Finally got my jkt back with the zipped cuff alterations, see you up at the shop soon
Nice one Jon, I’m there all weekend 🤪
Very Cool, I will get one for sure 🙏
👍
Steve McQueen no, Hugo Drax - maybe 🤣 Great review Tony!
👍👍
First there was the dream, now there is reality..... ;)
I am about to order a '76 cafe racer jacket from them. They seem like a really nice company
Excellent, they are lovely guys. They ride so they completely get what’s need for bike gear...
Great review as always. Would you say the liner makes the jacket too warm on hot summer day rides? That's my only concern with the jacket
Cheers, it’s not too bad, but yes a lined leather jacket is always going to get hot on summer days. To be honest though there are not many days here in the UK when it does become a problem.
Just spotted this jacket in the new trailer for Venom 2. You're a trend setter.
What can I say 😉 me and Tom are like 🤞🏻
Great review ! What size did you chose ?
Thanks, 46 inch
Good!
Thanks!
Great review Tony on the gold top jacket they do make some nice stuff👍🏻
& Knox Armour well ya Carnot say any more top quality 👍🏻there up near me in Cumbria
Have you ever reviewed any of there products ❓cheers mark 🇬🇧🍺👍🏻look after yourself
Hi Markie, thanks for that. Yes i've reviewed a few Knox bits in the past. I'm due to be trying out on e of the their new Urbane Pro Utility shirt once we are through this lockdown
Another excellent video . I looked into these jackets and was in touch with the owners but they would not say where the garments were made . Is there any marking on the jacket you have .
Thanks Martín, just checked and I can’t find a label sorry
Ok thanks for checking
I WANT!
Go Buy!
Great review Tony, however would disagree with run true to size, watched another review that said true to size so bought the 76 Cafe Racer 42" for a 42" chest and impossible. Goldtop were great sent it back and went for a 46" size and fits very nicely, but impossible with the armour in. The jacket is super soft and for a nice chilly day here in Spain it was awesome. Just a shame I cannot get the armour in and I feel the next size up would be too big in other areas.
I am 186cm, 88kg, 42" chest.
Thanks Dan, and that’s a shame to hear. I have to say it hasn’t been my experience. As well as the Easy Rider, I’ve tried on the scuftuf, lancer, bobber, 68 cafe racer and patrol all in a size 46 and other than the difference in the cut, they have all fitted.
How did you find the 46" for length? I'm 190cm would I get away with the size 46? In the 76 jacket?
what size is the one you are wearing?
I'm a big fan of my Goldtop gloves and I've been looking at some of their jackets from afar for a while. And I certainly have no issue with the 'weight' of the leather - I'm not sure why it's so important to have 0.9 - 1.1mm now?! I've got an old Montana which I love at 1.4mm. What I'm not so sure about Tony, is the zips. As a rule I much prefer antique brass on a black jacket and I'm really not sure about those tassels on the zips either. I'm guessing that they look much better in the flesh? Cheers
Hi will, I guess the thinner leather is cheaper and easier to work with. 1.4 seems to be the best balance between weight and protection. The zips are polished stainless. Very smooth and very unlikely to ‘stick’ like brass does, the tassels are designed so that they won’t scratch your tank or bodywork like a regular puller could.
I just bought a Goldtop Jacket and am wondering. How are they in the rain? Apparently aniline leather is destroyed in the rain but I've bought their wax as well to help. Any experience?
No leather jacket is going to be that good in the rain, but the wax will help a lot.
What size is the jacket you have on? How is the length of the jacket? I'm 6"3 and find some moto jackets can be very short.
46 chest and the jacket length is fine, its got a dropped back too which helps
Great for mt 07 2021 red
yep!
Looks the business on you “NICE ONE”
Cheers Colm
i want it, where i buy it with shipping to Peru?
maybe i should cross the wall and buy it
Goldtop do ship internationally from the UK
If the prices would of stayed similar to 1951 we would of been on to a winner.ahah
That would be nice. So good that they have that history
I was expecting you to ride up and toss your watch away, then I realized wrong Easy Rider. (his jacket had the stripes run on the other side)
Haha yep. but tricky as I don't wear a watch! But you've reminded me that its been a long time since I last watched that movie
Jacket - great. Stripes - looks like you are wearing a handbag just out of view. ;-)
Excellent, just the look I was going for!
