Very Good Restoration, Don’t Worry to Much About Those Critics Who Say Why Didn’t You Do This to it Or That You Forgot to Do That to it.
As Someone Mentioned; It Was A Good Honest Restoration. 👍👍👍👍👍

First off, I want to say good for you, for taking the time and effort to work on restoring these old neglected and forgotten items. Also, thank you for going through the trouble of filming your work and posting it for our entertainment and education. I know that none of what you do is easy, and you deserve much credit for doing it anyway.
Secondly, please don’t take any of what I am about to write as criticism of your work, but rather as advice to keep in mind as you continue with your restoration content creation. There were a few things you did (or rather, didn’t) do during this build that detracts from the overall quality of your end result. It is important when restoring older items to make sure that the work you do is both functional and durable. You cleaned the rust from all of the parts and the hardware, but by not treating some of the bare metal parts in some way (cold-blueing, heat-blueing, shellac, etc), you are leaving these parts open to future rust. Also, by not blueing the hardware, it looks like it doesn’t match up with the rest of the restoration. The drawer hardware should have also been sand-blasted and similarly treated, in order to better match.
Lastly, it’s important when doing restoration work to ensure that ALL parts are repaired, replaced, or remade. On this coffee grinder, you removed a washer and what looked like a thinner broken washer from the finial at the top of the main shaft. A quick online search of similar items shows that the thinner washer is in fact what appears to be a clip, with a bent leg that interacts with the castellated nut under that finial. If I were to guess, the castellated nut is used to set the coarseness of the grind, and the clip ensures that the spinning of the shaft doesn’t cause the setting to change (this could explain why during your demonstration at the end it looked difficult to turn the crank, and why it seemed like your coffee was taking a long time to grind: it was being ground into a fine dust).
At any rate, I look forward to seeing your other restorations, and I wish you the best in your future endeavors.
    Cheers!

Thank you for your comment ! I agree with everything you said. The grinder is now serving a decorative purpose and has been in my living room for more than 3 years. The rust converter technique seems to prevent corrosion in a heated environnement but is not sufficient when the parts are placed in a garage or outside. Since this video, I did some experiments with zinc plating and bluing to protect metal parts from corrosion, and I make sure to treat every non painted parts. One day it will be used again, and before use I will treat those parts and rebuild a proper washer :)
      Cheers !

I really doubt anyone here 'hates' this guy or his restorations. Please be careful with language, the word hate is thrown too easily nowadays. I liked the restoration with the exception to the box. You should have done a nice blind dovetail joint as opposed to pins. Also the finish on the box was blotchy. You could have pre-treated the wood with a wood conditioner which would have given you a more even finish. Also, you could have used a shellac finish which gives a wonderful patina as it ages.
