Cod’o blank saver More a fish than a finger Alex like you say Great to get away clear your mind on a beach and the only sounds are the waves Love it Take care and Tight lines 🎣
Some of the best jackets are ones designed for yachting. Haven't come across a fishing jacket yet that is perfect. I like the titan ones. Everyone and then I give em the nikwax treatment and if done correctly does keep the water out for a 2-3 month
Vass Tex 175 Winter Lined Smock and the bib and brace are the best on the market right now :), Thank you for the video. Always like watching your videos :)
Absolutely love your vids alex, you say it as it is, give it your best shot and we cant ask for any more than that! I also, like so many others use the beach fishing as my escape, also enjoy going solo, but enjoy the company of others at times! A cracking blank saver to boot... What more can a man ask for?? (Apart from the feeling in fingers and toe?)
hi for the last 38 years i am always using FLADEN winter wear ( floatation suit ) and boots . Never had any problems with them. They where made for the arctic . And they are made in Sweden not in china
I was after an suit to fish this winter, was going for Imax but my son told me about him and his 2 mates issues with them bursting, tearing and generally falling apart even after a month or so! My kids ended up getting me a Fisheagle 2 piece flotation suit from Glasgow Angling Centre £106 and free carriage!
If anyone suffers with cold feet. Try the Reed socks. I got mine from VMO. About £16 a pair from memory. They look weird. But really work. You just wear a normal pair of socks over the top of them. I use the Preston innovations Celsius socks. Toasty feet. All winter. Loved the video. Congratulations on the cod. All the best. 🐳
Nice one mate, thanks for the tip, I'll definitely look them up! I use decathlon woolen hiking socks and they're pretty good, and dry quick too if you're hiking.
I’ve put you a super thanks in - so if you choose to try the socks they are on me. Thanks for the videos. And all the best. PS - Forgot to say - look up the Vass 350 gear. Bottoms are brilliant. With a heavy weight feel. The jacket feels light weight. But both are warm. Treat any water proof clothing with a regular wash of Grangers. And you are laughing. 👍
Hi Alex cracking video with some great reviews I have 5 days booked down chesil in March which I’m really looking forward to looking forward for your next instalment
Great video as normal bud, Had a great crimbo worked a bit time of happy days wet a few lines great back to work early Jan great 10th of Jan get a call were shutting the company immediately and your redundant 22 yrs bye what a kick in the gonads that was couldnt believe it, haven't had the heart to go back out an wet a line took the wind right out my sails. Hopefully im out on a beach next week for a couple of hrs January can do one
Wow, mate, what a kicker! The grass might be greener, though, you never know. Definitely get yourself out fishing though, some fresh air in the lungs and some fish on the bank and the world we will seem a better place I'm sure.
Century bib and smock, will keep you dry and warm for many seasons. Vass, Super dry but a little heavy in my very humble opinion. As a side note, Savage gear bib and jacket excellent also.
Thanks mate. I have the vass smock, awesome in the rain. But try and layer up, and I get wetter from the lack of breathability (if that's a word), than I would the rain 😂
Hey mate, fished there the Wednesday previously to you and did nothing. Spoke to two lads, one fishing one surveying and they both know you! Anyway, big rollers 100 yds out, could hold bottom but all baits came back untouched. Stuck it two hrs and did the 2,1/2 hr drive back.a bad day fishing always better than a good day at work
Wonder who you were talking to 🤔 Holderness has been cruel this winter season mate. As quick as you hear some catches trickle in and they're gone again 😒
Had many a jacket over the years. Personally don't think you can beat the Fladen flotation jackets. The all in ones are ok, but you can't wear them with waders. So it's the jacket on its own for me. Means I can stick my waders underneath no issues, very warm and completely waterproof.
@@theawfulangler you can get full suit, bib and brace or just the jacket now. I went for jacket this time just so I could get away with wearing it over a pair of chestys.
Can't ask for nothing more other than the feeling back in ma fingers and toes hahahahaha😂😂. Well done mate good to get out and enjoy some me time 👌tight lines 👍
Nice one Alex 👍 Definitely don't get the new daiwa labelled sundridge jacket, my old sundridge jacket was fantastic but new one literally falling apart at the seams after a couple of months. I have the 13ft fireblade GT, wasn't sure at first but i love it for general cleanish ground stuff now, I think it could use an extra eye on the tip section and a better finish but i suppose thats the cost cutting.
Nice one Daz, I've got a short list of jackets but there's been some good suggestions on here tonight. I've got to say, the GT is not for me, whether it's the fact it's 13ft I'm not sure, but it's just doesn't sit right with me 🤔
@theawfulangler yeah its a funny little beast, i like it with multiplier fitted low for intermediate fishing but then it is only rated 4 - 6oz. And i am a person of limited stature so the big powerful stuff useless to me.
Getting pee'd of trying to use worm bait on circle hooks. My last session at Dover I used 3/0 aberdeens on a pennel that I had put an offset in with pliers. Nothing memorable, but 4 doggies in the 2-3lb bracket and all lip hooked. I took that as a win all round. Heading to the Admiralty pier for another session tomorrow (monday 29Jan)
How do you manage to make it out i find it very hard to get past the front door?depressed and full of anxiety no friends ,family doesn't want to know, alcoholic but sober now after an awful xmas
I'm very proud of you for getting sober mate, that's a massive step in the right direction. I've always been an introvert, so I enjoy being alone. I also think once you learn to enjoy your own company that's a new kind of strength. Start by just sitting in the garden or heading to the park and sit on a bench, stick some headphones in and ignore everyone, be selfish.
I think your right as an alco I was a people pleaser and always ended up being used and abused for being kind and trying to help people instead of myself, time I think to be selfish and look after myself, I don't mind being alone once I can get over the anxiety, drink really does a lot of damage to my thinking and nervous system, but I really love fishing have to get out again, but have to beat the fear and anxiety of driving again mad isn't it driving from 17 and 60 in may and scared to drive! love your videos gives me inspiration to get out there, thanks very much for your kind reply tight lines mate
@@eoinmurray2421I have had terrible experience with anxiety and depression, in the last few months I lost my uncle who was like a dad to me growing up, then my farther in law, who I loved and respected but I also had to watch my Mrs go through what I'd just gone through, and even more recently my mum passed away this week, mental illness is a horrible thing for anyone to go through, and drinking might block it out for a few hours but it doesn't change anything, wake up with a hangover and all the same worries and feelings, if you can mate get yourself out fishing, I've tried both the drinking and fishing, and being outside in the fresh air watching the world go by is far better to take your mind off things, you might get a fish for tea, meet and socialise with other anglers if that's your thing, and there's no hangover, hope you get yourself out.
@eoinmurray2421 don't worry at all about sharing personal issues on here mate. Like I say, we all need to normalise talking and opening up. Like I say we'll done on kick8ng the drink, hopefully that will only help your MH improve. I'm not best placed to help you with the anxiety issues, I have no training and maybe giving out bad advice here, but have you tried just going and sitting in the car, listen to some music, get used to just being in that environment and get comfortable with that again? I'm shooting in the dark like I say, but that's where I'd start, then just take it a ride around the block or to the local shop. Somewhere where you can park it and walk home if you really struggle 🤷🏻♂️
Thanks Alex enjoyed the video mate. Stay safe and keep fishing 👍🎣🎣
Thanks mate 👍🏼
Great video matey I totally agree fishing alone is so important I prefer it not being anti social I use titan clothing never let me down take care
I'm quite happy to be antisocial at times 😂 and some times people just don't want to be around me 🤣
I see a lot of people sporting titan tbh
@@theawfulangler It’s quality kit

I'll take a look at yachting stuff mate thanks. I usually use ski thermals as they're much better than the usual stuff.
Vass Tex 175 Winter Lined Smock and the bib and brace are the best on the market right now :), Thank you for the video. Always like watching your videos :)
Thanks for watching mate, and the advice, I'll have a look at them 👍🏼
Great stuff as always Alex, I’m sure there’s bigger ones out there with your name on 🤞🎣🐟
Hope the bigger one is waiting for the euros to come introduce themselves
Yes, Regatta do heated coats. I have 1 and it is very good. Also on sale this week 😊
I'll have a look cheers mate 👍🏼
If you want warmth, 100% waterproof and windproof get a flotation suit. Best investment ever
Yeah, a few have said the same mate. I grew up using a fladen flotation suit and my dad still has it now
Fladen are mega expensive these days so I bought a Sundridge off Ebay
nice one Alex,, nice little blank saver that happy days, look forward to the next one, until then happy hauling mate.
Amazing how a tiny fish can put a different spin on a session isn't it. Tight lines buddy

hi for the last 38 years i am always using FLADEN winter wear ( floatation suit ) and boots . Never had any problems with them. They where made for the arctic . And they are made in Sweden not in china
I grew up using a fladen flotation suit, and in fact, dad still has it to this day. Too short for me these days.

I grew up with a fladen flotation suit, dad still has it now in fact. That must be 20yrs old.
I too a couple of years ago got a fisheagle flotation suit, also from Glasgow angling. Had no problems with it for both shore and boat fishing.
Another cracking video mate,

Thanks Ian! Tough fishing over that way this last year
Preston innovation Celsius clothing r great and very warm

I have the Preston Innovations Celsius coat & same brand thick padded Bib & Brace as a set (about £120 for both 8 odd year ago & still going strong)

You can zip a fleece inside. Used it since2015. Buy over trousers. You don’t sweat
