Think it's the spots that threw me off vern! Every time I go after the flatties, I research the differences, and as soon as I catch, it all goes straight out of my head 😄
Not been a subscriber long Ian but for sheer effort alone you and your Dad put in some unbelievable shifts in the hope of catching.Everybody blanks and in some of yours also but what I like about you two(dad) just how much you enjoy each others company with craic and banter and fish. Your videos and editing are brilliant dont change your ways.
Well done with the effort👍. You deserved more.🥺.🎣🎣 I'm sure you'll be rewarded and I look forward to that video. Good luck.🤞🤞 Take care and stay safe.😷🙊
Love your videos and your problems that we all have to endure keep them coming good watching them. We all meet at the venue but we are from different areas.
Something I would try on the river is smaller hooks and baits ..no bigger than your thumb also try when you fish cart and squid turn your half squid inside out leaving the guts on the squid and elastic it up like that an old lad told me to do it this way....Worth a try....tight lines
Cheers Dave! I fished the mersey this weekend and took my spinning rod with a really light setup just as you described. I'll give your tip with the squid a go next outing too I like the sound of that 👍🏼
Looks more flounder than plaice to me, probably has a bit of hybrid in it. Best way to tell is you can feel the spine on a flounder and the tail is bigger than a plaice. Tight lines.
Brave in this weather well done 👍🎣 We normally all travel together so yeah getting everyone up and ready 😱 we usually meet, load up and go lol it is a challenge in itself sometimes with the kids and the end of a hard week lol, but we usually have a good day out in the end. All the best looking forward to catching up on here tight lines
well done you... great channel, and keeping it real... as you say, you will blank on some outings, that's just the way it is. but one day we will all have our monster catch. and i agree, pick your crap up and bin it, its not rocket science.... i'm looking at heading down to mablethorpe in the new year, plenty of whiting and cod coming out at the moment on the late flood tide.
Thanks mate! Yeah, the East Coast is doing well atm. It does seem to go quiet in January, though 🤔 I'm planning a test to north Wales in the new year 👍🏼
@@theawfulangler lovely, Anglesy has some good marks. everything from sandy beaches to rocks and reefs.. Red Wharf Bay is a firm fav of mine with some cosy cottages to rent and the beach on the doorstep. look forward to the vids matey...
@@theawfulangler I've not been for quite a few years myself, probably 2013 was the last time for me. Some friends of ours have just up sticks to Scotland, so a wee visit up there may be on the books. I used to fish off Leith and along the Edinburgh coast, all the way towards North Berwick. I had some lovely cod off the long harbour wall at Granton harbour. Just a thought if you venture back up to Scotland. Lincolnshire coast is my stomping ground now, only been here two years after moving from Sheffield, but so far it's had some good beach fishing. I've not tried the wall yet, it looks a bit too snaggy for my taste. But maybe one day....
I gave the wall a go a fee months back but haven't had chance to venture back again. Was speaking to a couple locals, there was a bay that has a pipe running across it, marked with poles, other than that it'd pretty clean ground 👍🏼
well done for putting lots of work into you fishing at least your tell it as it is not showing us just catching i get more blanks than good days as well
Fair play to you, certainly putting the effort in. I agree with another comment, that place is a flounder, even rarer especially down south nowdays And yeah I'd have left me dad asleep, if plans been made, it's been made, up to them to get up, not your job to be alarm clock Good viewing your channel, fish are a bonus
Cheers Scott. A few have pointed out the flounder too. I need to commit the differences to memory 🤦🏻♂️ Glad you see my point on waking people up. If folk decide to have a lie in that's up to them, I'm off fishing 🤣
Me and my mate say a time and place where we meet if he int there with in half hour i am off fishing , keep the vids coming i was on lordliner yesterday not a sniff in 10 hours but thats fishing for you
Not sure I could do half an hour kicking around, thats far too patient for me 🤣 Lordliner, not heard of that one. But agree even tide to tide it can change so much, think that's what appeals to me about sea fishing so much!
No mate it's just a winter suit. It's the IMAX ARX-20 lovely and warm but has never been that water proof and the trousers split within a couple of sessions 😔
Hi just started watching your videos really enjoy them when I cannot get to the coast with work😫 just a quick question what size it’s that coat your wearing please I’ve been looking at getting one, would you recommend it? 👍 Cheers James
Hi James! Glad you're enjoying the videos. It's a 2xl, and yeah it's lovely and warm, but not the most waterproof thing going. I mentioned this to a couple of people though and they haven't had the same experience as me, so maybe just a duff one 🤷🏻♂️
That was my response. I was told it does, but he switched it off and as he couldn't see me went back to sleep. Think he was expecting me to be sat on his bonnet waiting 🤣
You're one of many that have pointed that out mate! I always struggle to remember the differences, so feel free to point it out in the other videos where I stuff it up too 😅
No plaice in the river Humber, Lincolnshire coast and never seen one on the holderness coast. Always a flounder. Subs have taken off 👍
Think it's the spots that threw me off vern! Every time I go after the flatties, I research the differences, and as soon as I catch, it all goes straight out of my head 😄
Your content is great, blanking is part of fishing especially in winter

That's so good to hear, thanks mate! Blanking is part of the game, im just glad the effort comes across 👍🏼
keeping positive + effort and time put in = pays off....... Good Luck to you Sir....Thanks for Sharing...
Thanks mate, the hard days make the good days that little sweeter!
I've had 8 cod over Fri and sat nights this weekend on humber on the good side
Nice one Andy! Seeing some good reports still. I had a trip out to the mersey last weekend, I'll get the video up on Sunday 👍🏼
Keep plugging away mate, enjoy watching your efforts.
Cheers David fishing is full of ups and downs
Great video mate, I think that might be a flounder 🤔 there look like that around thesis parts tight lines mate 🎣🐟🎣
Cheers Ian, few others have pointed that out too 🤦🏻♂️😅
Sounds like you and your dad are good buddies. Cool
We have our moment Stevie 😅
Well done with the effort👍. You deserved more.🥺.🎣🎣
I'm sure you'll be rewarded and I look forward to that video.
Good luck.🤞🤞
Take care and stay safe.😷🙊
Cheers Ian! It's sessions like this that make the good ones that bit sweeter, got to take the rough with the smooth 🤞🏼
Tough session there buddy, keep up the hard work, stay safe
Thanks mate!
Fair play to you mate, don’t really do much saltwater, but love watching any kind of fishing. Subbed 👍
Thanks Mark appreciate that!
Hi mate you ok mate, i enjoyed the watch again nice one. Thats the humber big cod one tide blank the next. All the best from GRIMSBY.

Now that was hilarious, listening to the story of your dad not happy about not waking him up, thats just what my dad would have said. Brilliant 👍
Funny buggers aren't they! If I had gone banging on the door, he would have been annoyed I woke him up ha!
@@theawfulangler 😂😂😂 Cant do right for doing wrong. It did make laugh

Yeah the bigger the group the more chaotic it gets. It's a fine line between being social and antisocial for me haha
Good video,it’s looks a good location and worth the time put in,
Cheers Andrew! All good venues, I think, on their day, just not that day 😅
Just do what you’re doing it’s real and appreciated by other anglers
Cheers Aidan, it's the reality of fishing, but I also want to put out entertaining content...tough balance!
I am going there next weekend 🤪 hope there plenty of cod
Good luck mate, still seeing some good reports about 👍🏼
Fair play to you for the amount of effort you’ve gone to to try and get some fishy entertainment for us 👍🎣🐟
Thanks Kevin, that's fishing for ya! Some of my videos are pure blanks but wanted to show its not for the lack of trying!
Hope your ribs give less pain soon. Be well and thanks for the videos.
Thanks Andrew, they're getting there slowly! Might have to stretch them with a few casts soon though!

Doing well all things considered mate. Little Jack's doing well, fighting his battles and staying strong 💪🏼 ❤️
well done for putting lots of work into you fishing at least your tell it as it is not showing us just catching i get more blanks than good days as well
That's it Eric! It's not called the awful angler because I catch every cast that's for sure haha
Caught my first cod ever from the shore last night only 3 1/2 pounds but not bad from sunny Cornwall....tight lines from another awfully angler
That's still a nice fish Terence, congratulations! I bet the weather's better down there too 😅
@@theawfulangler good codling for down here, the weather was OK just minus 1 and easterly wind!! But it was sheltered in the river that I caught it

I have no friends, so fish as and when I please
I love a good antisocial fishing session too 🤣
Try using cockles for cod good bait for them aswell
Cheers Daren
My mate is always late. He was even late as best man to my wedding. Solo fishing from now on then....
Hahaha wow, now that's commitment! I'll always fish with my dad when we get the chance, but you just have to accept that plans go out of the window 🤣
What air temp u got there with that wind
Not sure on the figures, but the technical term was bloody cold 😬
Thanks for the vid my question is what brand is your floaty?
Thanks Andrew! What do you mean my floaty?
