Mura doesn't bother, cable as well, premium controllers, awesome first year library of big titles from pc and exclusives he forgot to mention, GT 7, Re8 Re4 remake, synapse, Cross fire, etc: PC quality graphics versus standalone crap. I sold my Quest 3 because I simply didn't want to play it cuz my PSVR 2 was always available. Can't even tell how uncomfortable q3 is. Doesn't have earphones, the mic is bad, colors are washed up. The only thing that is very bad about psvr 2 is the fresnel lenses, pankacke lenses for Quest 3 are amazing. But the rest is all in PSVR2 favor. I had both, and i sold q3.

    Very weird that FOV for you is wider on the Quest 3. For me the PSVR2 has wider FOV even when using the Quest 3 without a facial interface. Are you sure you pulled the headset all the way into your eyes?
    Also when you said MURA is like a black shadow this doesn’t make any sense MURA is when the screen is grainy and you see static pixels when moving your head like film grain and sometimes there can be a green tint associated with this grain as well in specific scenes.

    Regarding the bluetooth connectivity discussed in the video. I've seen feedback from Windows Mixed Reality headset owners on reddit advising that Bluetooth dongles often had connectivity problems when used on a USB 3.0 port. They would instead connect it to a USB 2.0 port or a USB 3.0 port with an extension cable. This worked for them because the USB 3.0 connection itself affects the dongle from functioning as designed. The other alternative was to use a PCI-Expansion card with Bluetooth built in, these connect directly into the motherboard and aren't affected by the USB 3.0 controller. Manufacturer's of Windows Mixed Reality PC VR headset's learned how unreliable Bluetooth dongles could be and instead began integrating Bluetooth into the adapter. The Reverb G2 is praised for implementing something similar.

    It helps a lot to bring the front part of the PSVR2 comfortable close to your eyes, if you release the rearbutton once you wear the PSVR2 on your head, while you keep a thumb pushed on that button and the back part of the strap, then moving the front part of the headset slowly towards your forhead and then quickly turn the knob to lock it again.
    I actually can get this way much easier to the closest position instead of just using maximum pressure (which is usually pretty uncomfortable.
    That way the strap sits much tighter without too much pressure. Sounds tricky but it is actualy pretty easy to do.

    When I bought my PSVR2 last year I noticed the superior FOV of the PSVR2 right away compared to the Reverb G2, the PSVR2 library is still very young but very large for a new headset and has much better quality games to buy if you also want to play PSVR2 games, games that could never run on a Quest 3 if you intend to use it for stand alone gaming, also other than the uncomfortable Quest 3 headband needing to be replaced the battery life of the standard Quest 3 battery is very poor so you will need the Bobo head strap with an extra battery, and then the price of the Quest 3 is far higher than the PSVR2, I think the OLED displays and the built in Displayport technology make the PSVR2 the superior PCVR headset.

      You got your psvr2 last year.. so you spent 1000 usd to make it work. So that made the price of the psvr 2 at least 300usd more than the quest 3 with new strap and battery pack. So how was your psvr 2 cheaper than the quest 3 when you purchased it?
      Let's also not forget that all the functions that make the psvr 2 better than the quest 3 ard also disabled when connected to pc. So once you take that into consideration the psvr 2 is actually inferior to the quest 3 in regards to pc vr. Not to mention you do have the option of playing the quest 3 by itself and skip the additional 500-1500usd that you have to spend in order to use the psvr 2.
      It's not that the psvr 2 is bad, it's just that the selling points for the psvr 2 are only there if it's connected to the ps5, it losses to many of its advantages when it's connected to pc which just makes it entry level in my eyes in comparison.

    Thanks, Thomas, for the comparison between the Playstation VR 2 and the Meta Quest 3. I have the Playstation VR 1 and the Quest 3. I realize you are not comparing the Playstation VR 1, but i really liked it until the Quest 1 came out, and it was hard to argue with wireless and no cables. Now I can't say how much better the Playstation VR 2 is than the 1, but the Quest 3 is way better than the Quest 1. Having said that for myself, I like the mixed-reality games, bigger sweet spot, and color pass-through that the Quest 3 gives me. I have an Elite Strap with Battery, and in case another around the neck backup battery plus the main Quest 3 battery and I could play for probably 6 hours or so. I haven't used more than the main battery and Elite Strap with Battery because using the headset for 4 hours is probably more than I should do without a break, so at least that stops me from being in VR way too much. Integrated sound is convenient, but it's not as good as having actual headphones on, or IEMs/earbuds. It's nice to have the option, but it's also nice to not be stuck with the extra weight if you're not going to use it/to have options. If attaching better options is so terrible because of the wires... then get shorter wires, or strap them down with cable ties/Velcro. You're already dealing with a wired headset.

    I have both and the only thing PSVR2 has over the Quest 3 is the Oled screens. What I hate about it the most is how hard it is to be in the sweet spot and how much I constantly have to tweak the headset's position. Zero problem with the Quest since the sweet spot is so wide. Also, Mura. You don't notice it as much while playing but it's definitely there and whenever there's a spectacular scene I always wish that I'm not looking at it through a mesh. Lens glare is ok for the most part, the smear don't get that annoying for me but definitely prefer the Quest's clearness.
    The color on the OLED screens are very nice, as someone who owns an OLED TV and an OLED ultrawide monitor, I was disappointed when I first put on my Quest 3. This is also the reason why I bought the PSVR2, I wanted to see the difference OLED would make in VR. The truth is, it is a big difference. But ultimately, the Mura and more importantly the extremely small sweet spot are too much of a tradeoff. Wearing PSVR2 reminds me of the first generation HMDs, you could forget all about it's short comings when you're immersed in the world but they're always there and eventually, unconsciously, you'll want to wear it less and less. Quest 3, however, is so hassle free with the standalone capability and how clear the images always are, I keep wanting to put it on. It allows you to focus on the experience and that is the difference maker.

      I wanted to do 3D Blurays (even though they're not making them anymore) somewhat recently, so I bought a DLP projector, and have converted my living room into a full on theater, and our TV is just on the floor for the kids or whatever. Got some cheap-ish glasses on Aliexpress, already had a good 5.1 setup, grabbed a cheap screen (needed it because my walls are textured, and this projector is a UST). It's great, being able to let everybody watch 3D together (it's really just me and my kid for the most part), and at the distance our couch has to be from our TV area, the increase FOV is great for split-screen gaming (even though we have to settle for 1080p, it's still better than extra tiny pixels, super far away).

    • @StubbyPhillips
      @StubbyPhillips 3 місяці тому +1

      @@ReclaimerTyphoon That sounds like an excellent setup! I think 3D TV would still be a thing *(and it SHOULD!)* if the marketing types hadn't tried to sell it as "The NEW way to watch TV!" instead of "An additional capability you can use to watch certain things now and then if you want." People were afraid they would have to wear "the silly glasses" to watch TV all the time. For whatever reason I'll never understand some people just don't like 3D movies or 3D anything (sometimes I wonder if they realize they see in 3D all day long...) but I absolutely LOVE it! It doesn't give me a headache. It doesn't make me sick. It doesn't make me dizzy. It doesn't give me eyestrain and I'm not too "cool" to be seen wearing 3D glasses in my living room. Adding 3D capability to TVs didn't really cost anything if the glasses were optional so it's just dumb that it went away. Back in the day I overheard some dolt in a store telling the TV kid "I don't want none of them 3D ones." Like you can't just leave it turned off!? Whatever...

    I've used both headsets. They both have their advantages. Even without nice PS5 functions PSVR2 can be better in some cases than Quest 3. Especially that natively wired headset better works and looks with PC. Many points are very subjective. Some of my friends have problems finding lenses sweet spot position, and that's why they prefer Quest 3. For me black levels and good colors are very important. For me often wireless compression algorythms creates heavier overload and screw up the image. As of glare, I really prefer PSVR2 glare, especially on black background. Q3 has some kind of smudge effect, general glow for whole lense in that case, or false image - it feels strange for me. PSVR 2 godrays feels kinda immersive. Anyway, Q3 is simpler to use and understand, in general use it's better.
    In the end I love both headsets, they both awesome in their own sense.

      I'm still on the cv1, was hoping to love the quest 3 and upgrade but I tried it from a friend of mine and didn't like it, yeah everything was clear but didn't like the colors and comfort, also i dont care for mixed reality, incredibly i still liked more my cv1 , even with the rays, of course I can't read damn thing. Maybe Psvr2 is a good option because of oled and i l also own a ps5. Is there a notable difference because of the resolution?

    • @MrKinein
      @MrKinein 3 місяці тому

      @@rodiape Resolution is roughly the same on both devices. There are a few small caveats about resolution though:
      Quest 3 has it's panel turned roughly 30 degrees, meaning that pixel lines are not horizontal vertical grid. It makes borders of small UI a little rough (if aliasing is disabled). Another thing is that my RTX 3070 can't hold good fps at full resolution in many games when transmitted wirelessly. And compression blurs the image slightly, especially in far distances. However good lenses give more clarity and comfort indeed.
      PSVR 2 has the same or even worse resolution on paper, but in the end, connected to PC it feels a little sharper. Difference is kinda small. PSVR 2 has Mura effect, which gives a little noise on top of an image. Some people can't take it, most are okay with it. I kinda like it, it creates cozy feeling like retro device for me. And image is blurry on the edges, you'll need to adjust to sweet spot like every 5 minutes.
      Deeper colors, darker darks and brighter brights are notable in PSVR 2. I too in love of OLED displays for games, and gives here an edge for PSVR 2. Like when you walk in the cave, and you see bright exit out of the darkness, it feels so real, just because it's surrounded by black void, and black void totally blends with display borders, creating seamless feeling. Also the bright colorful explosions are such a thrill to see, especially with the haptic feedback PS5 provides. PSVR 2 is so bright friends had tears when there was a brief bright image on display. Never the case with Quest 3.
      For me the image is more stunning in PSVR 2, but Quest 3 is easier to use and more comfortable (albeit with 3rd party headstrap). If you okay with a smaller sweet spot and the wire, I think you will enjoy PSVR 2 more. Especially if you have both PS5 and PC

Also, there are a LOT of reasons people would want a console over a PC (and a lot more reasons why someone would want a console & wired headset over a stand-alone VR device). If you can't see that, you lack awareness. I welcome you to seek understanding.
      Ultimately, console is just a different path, and its value to your life depends on who you are, and what you find valuable/to what extent.
      One (of many) reason to want Gran Turismo: It's a different game. You mean to tell me you've never played, or don't own other racing games? You picked one racing game when you came out of the womb, and have never deviated, tried other things, or enjoyed other racing games?
      I don't envy you and your obsession with living a black-and-white life like that.
      Yeah, Quest has some exclusive games. I just bought Dungeons of Eternity, because it's awesome, it works great with the haptic vest I bought, and I actually beta tested the game a while back, and have loved it since.
      But if you don't care about those exclusive games, and there are other reasons why you want a PS5, then... getting a PS5 and PSVR2 makes a lot of sense.
      Also, Quest 3 BARELY has more resolution than PSVR2. And, like I said, PSVR2 has OLED.
      Also, also, if you're doing PCVR, Quest 2/3 has video compression artifacts. I specifically bought a wired PCVR headset to avoid that garbage. It's a Pimax 5KSuper. It puts everything else to shame, just with it's wide FOV.

We have ports out the wazoo nowadays, but usually only one or two controllers that all that data feeds through, which bottlenecks the ports. Especially on a streamer's VR PC, they'd have most ports used up. So if it's a big problem, a dedicated USB add in card can help relieve the bottleneck by giving it a new dedicated controller just for the problem devices.

    • @dougus7878

      I would probably say the PSVR 2 is "better" for sim racing use case in that it is much lighter and does not put pressure on your face (comfortable to use for long racing periods). Also feel like the vertical field of view is better on the PSVR 2. Lastly, the PSVR 2 is not "encoding" the video that is coming from the PC so the image will not be susceptible to compression artifacts that can occur on the Quest 3 (which either gets H264, HEVC, or AV1 video depending on your graphics card); this can result in a muddy image especially during sim racing (though if you have a 30 or 40 series GPU this is not an issue (as they can encode HEVC and AV1).

    Respectively, your comparison on the optics seems a bit lazy. Yes, OLED offers vibrant colors, superior contrast, and deeper blacks, but the Quest 3 still delivers decent color and contrast without any Mura effect.
    Having tested both today ( had the pcvr2 pcvr adapter early too) the Quest 3 has SIGNIFICANTLY clearer optics and a noticeably better sweet spot (PSVR 2 has 18 PPD, while the Quest 3 has 26 PPD).
    Additionally, the PSVR 2 suffers from noticeable glare and chromatic aberration.
    When it comes to movies, the Quest 3 stands out as a portable movie player with many more options. The clarity is substantially better, and 8K UA-cam videos look stunning on the Quest 3.

I have a long-range USB Bluetooth adapter that gives me Bluetooth connectivity pretty much anywhere in my house, it's basically just a 5.0 dongle with an adjustable antenna sticking out of it. The internal PS5 Bluetooth antenna is fairly large so that may be the ticket to fixing your Bluetooth issues.

    I've always had issues with Bluetooth on my PCs so I spent a lot of time getting it working properly.
    Simply use a Bluetooth adapter with an antenna, or an integrated Bluetooth card with an external antenna. My Bluetooth keyboard used to disconnect from 7 feet away, now I can use it anywhere in the house and even outside. My PS5 controller used to disconnect if more than one was connected but no longer do so with an antenna.
    I've tried cheap antenna adapters and expensive ones. The main thing is the antenna.
    Regarding the video once I can purchase the PSVR2 PC adapter I'll be testing it out.

  • @Joric78

    I think you undersell the pancake lenses in this. For me the difference between pancake lenses and fresnel lenses is transformational. Even without the colour passthrough, faster wifi, av1 encoding and XR2 gen 2 performance advantages, I'd have paid for the Quest 3 over (even significantly cheaper) last gen headsets with fresnel lenses like the Quest 2, PSVR2 or HP Reverb G2 for the lenses alone. For me the biggest drawback of the Quest 3 is the reduction in binocular overlap. Especially as you really notice it with pancake lenses compared to fresnel lens headsets, because you can actually move your eyes instead of your head to look around, and your peripheral vision isn't a blurry mess.
    I also find reading normal sized text through fresnel lenses headache inducing, and for that reason I never used them for web browsing or other general computing. Even watching videos, it's the difference between being able to lie back and look with my eyes in the Quest 3, versus struggling to get the sweet spot every time I put the headset on and then having to move my whole head instead of my eyes to look at everything. I still enjoyed (became hooked on) VR with fresnel lenses, but I use VR much more with the Quest 3 and only return to the fresnel lenses for multiplayer when I've put someone else in the better headset.

    • @dtz1000
      @dtz1000 3 місяці тому +2

      The problem with pancake lenses is that they make everything look a bit more dim. He didn't mention it, but the PSVR2 display is brighter.
      He also definitely should have put binocular overlap in the CON section of the Quest 3.

    • @Joric78
      @Joric78 3 місяці тому

      I don't find brightness an issue with the Quest 3 at all, I turn it down to get better contrast and blacks. The Quest 3 has also done much better with motion clarity (even when the PSVR2 isn't limited by reprojection), which I think is just a matter of implementation and an advantage of LCDs. The clarity of pancake lenses though is just a massive difference. It changes what content I find usable in the headset, how much time I use it, comfort, reduces setup friction etc etc.
      I think the fresnel lenses were a step back with the PSVR2 honestly. I'm not even convinced the increased resolution of the PSVR2 made up for the use of fresnel lenses and OLED with a pentile subpixel array instead of the PSVR1's aspheric lenses and RGB stripe OLED. The controllers, inside out tracking and eye tracking (when used well for dynamic foveated rendering, such as with NMS) are what I consider the major improvements from PSVR1 to PSVR2 (along with the extra grunt of the PS5).

      Wireless is nice but the latency that comes from streaming is a bigger issue than the compression. Quest 3 has about 40ms of latency which is about double of what you get from wired PCVR headsets also running at 120hz. Will you notice 20ms of additional latency? Probably. The difference in latency between 30 fps and 60 fps is only 16ms and many people can feel a difference.

    • @arkadijko
      @arkadijko 3 місяці тому

      @@poorsvids4738 Its completely different things to compare, frame rate fluidity vs input delay. Human reaction time to visual input ie. green lights at the start of the race are in 200 ms for elite F1 drivers and possibly 250-300ms for average human. 20ms delay is basically unnoticeable. Frame rate is a different story, for sim racing anything below 90 fps is quite noticeable for average person.
      I was thinking that display port uncompressed connection is superior to wireless compressed but in reality 20ms of additional delay is too small to notice.

    • @poorsvids4738
      @poorsvids4738 3 місяці тому

      @@arkadijko I don't think that's quite right. Vsync doesn't add much latency either, buffering 2 or 3 frames which is 17ms or 25ms at 120hz, yet many will notice it and wouldn't recommend using it for competitive games.
      Many also notice input lag using DLSS3 Frame Generation. It will make the frame rate higher and it will look smoother but the input delay won't improve beyond the actual game frame rate and people notice.

    This Bluetooth problems are being caused by a incompatibility between the versions of the Bluetooth. I think Dualsenses uses BT 5.1 or 5.2, dont remember right now so if you use a 5.0 receptor, it will give you problems. Ive had many problems here with more than one DS controllers connected to my old computer. My new computer now have the last BT version on the mother board and now the problems are gone. But, even so, if I try to connect more than two DS controlers on it, it will keep disconecting one of then. A random one. It is a PAIN and I think it is a Windows problem with their native BT drivers because ive solved this problem by instaling a program called DSX, that are being sold cheap on Steam and do miracles! Thats why I think it is a M$ driver´s problem to favor the use of their controlers over the Sony ones. Thats it guys. Lets hope Sony fix this issue with M$ and Windows can finally accept a Sony controler without problems. Natively.

      I'm guessing part of why having the dongle plugged directly into his pc had worse connectivity than over an extension cable is due to the emf the pc generates. Especially usb 3.0 ports running at the same frequency as the bt dongle's wireless frequency.
      You move the dongle away, you get a clearer signal. It's because of that reason why I connected my wireless adapters over extension cables instead of direct into the pc.
