The PSVR2 is still at its full price of $550. It went on sale one time for $350 and that was definitely the best price it has ever been. In fact that's a pretty acceptable price all things considered. But $550 is just crazy. Especially with all the other things you NEED to buy to get it working smoothly on PC.
100%. Honestly $550 is acceptable for a headset with no downsides, but that literally doesn't exist yet. Every single headset I've seen has at least 1 thing about it that another does perfect and vice versa.
thx for the video. You consolidated my decision on buying a Quest 3 haha. Jokes apart, the side by side comparison of what graphics looked like in both of your headsets was a very good idea. You might be one of the only youtubers that has ever done that.
Yeah man, no prob! I'm not here to convince people one way or the other, these are just my experiences. A competitive market is a good market for the consumer. New tech for gaming is exciting, and I'm down to try whatever. I'm glad you enjoyed the side by side comparison. I did my best to accurately show the differences through video effects, because there really isn't a single good way to show it without actually trying a headset on yourself. Thanks for the support man, means a lot ✌️
VR needs to be promoted since is the most entertainment in gaming history ever. It is also a portal to massive potential in general technology ever in 21st century. Once you spend some years with it and try out some decent game, it surpassed anything flatscreen device cannot ever do
As a daily driver of a Valve Index. I too agree with everything stated here. I would also add. The finger tracking isn't anything more than a novelty. It was never that accurate and has little support in games. Lastly, the controllers are not built to last. I have had 1 analog stick wear out so badly it flops around like those old N64 sticks used to. And the grip panel snapped off. On the replacement that cost $150. The grip panel also snapped off. I am not hard on my tech. This is Outrageous for a supposedly premium $1000 product. That said. I have also had THE BEST entertainment experiences of my life in it so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@@vrenthusiast71 This is super interesting to hear. I didn't know about this. It's pretty crazy how much staying power the Index has had though. I feel like we've only recently entered a period where the Index is no longer considered the best.
I'm keen to see what Valve would do with a new headset release, but I can't help but think the competition is so stiff with Quest 3/3S and the inevitable 4, that the business-heads are probably (rightly) thinking that doing so may not be a good proposition nowadays.
@@MostlyPositiveChannel yeah, Index would be far from worth it even if it was the same price as the PSVR2. But at $1k base, plus the inevitable $100+ per pop repair costs for the cables and controllers (which WILL fail after a couple hundred hours), it becomes an even more ridiculous proposition.
Thanks man, much appreciated! It totally depends on what exactly you want. A lot of people don't have space for base station tracking, like myself, so inside out tracking is a godsend. On top of that, the Index, while still impressive, is definitely showing its age. The tracking is phenomenal, but the lenses are subpar compared to modern headsets. The Index controllers work with a number of different headsets, so you don't actually need the Index itself to experience the benefits of the controllers and base station tracking. Then there's the fact that the public knows Valve is working on a new VR headset, we just don't know when it will come out. I'd say for the average consumer, the choices are really between the PSVR2 and Quest 3 right now.
I have a ps5 but I finally decide to get a pc when Sony announced the psvr2 was coming to pc and I’m very happy with my choice. I can’t see myself buying a ps6 for a long after it comes out
Oh nice dude! PC is definitely the platform for VR. The catalog for quality VR games isn't totally there on any platform, but it's definitely building. On PC, your options are SO much wider thanks to mods. Plus nowadays, every company is putting their games on PC. Not much of a reason to get an Xbox or PlayStation anymore. I'm happy to hear you made the jump and I hope you're having a blast ✌️
Thank you so much. I just wanted to share my experience and be completely transparent with people who are interested in getting into VR or are thinking about upgrading. I genuinely love video games and I want more people to pick up VR and experience the absolute magic I have so far.
Picked one up open box from ebay with the charging stand included for $300, now that I've used it I definitely wouldnt pay more. Maybe my expectations were too high, the last HMD i used was the CV1 a couple years ago, with no VR in between, and comparing the specs and my memories i expected to be blown away. But I wasn't, the res isnt as crazy high as i thought, it still looks like im looking into the world through binoculars (my prescription lens inserts dont help I'm sure), and the mura doesnt bother me that much but is definitely noticable. And thats not going into the compromises i had to make (i cant run my triple 10-bit 4k monitor setup with this connected), and how hard it was to get it working.
Whoa, this is news to me. I'm super happy to hear devs are getting in on this too. I gotta wonder if Sony plans on officially bringing these features at some point
I already had the psvr2 when the pc support and adapter came out. I already had the display port cable, and I had no issues using my laptop's internal Bluetooth. Was just a $60 upgrade.
Good review. On the audio, I use the 3d pulse from ps5 . It works on PC, too. Since I already used it on my ps5, I continue to use it on PC. About the Bluetooth I use my chinise PCI wifi/Bluetooth. In the first time suck. But when I saw people using extenders on usb dongles decided to buy an extension cable to plug my antenas away from PC case. I pay like 3 dollars(2x on per antenna) in now. It works perfectly. I always suggest that to people before spending on more expensive asus one.
Thanks a lot man, and thanks for the insight. PC is a crazy environment where everything works and nothing works at the same time, and sometimes the solution to the worst problems is turning your computer off then on again lol
Contractor Showdown have pretty much active playerbase if you play the Reborn mode. Not sure why they keep adding new mode just to split playerbase which is annoying
Hey im also a reverb g2 owner and wanted to ask what the battery life on the controllers are like on the psvr2 because that for me is a big issue on my g2.
I didn't have any issues with either the G2 or PSVR2 controllers in terms of batter life. For the PSVR2, I had multiple sessions that lasted around 3 hours straight and they didn't die. There's also a setting on Steam where you can have them auto turn off after a set amount of time of inactivity. While making this video, I often switched between editing and gathering footage. So while Steam VR and the headset were running, the controllers just auto turned off while I worked on other things. I hope this helped ✌️
wut, the quest 3 has speakers, also wth, $300 for a psvr2?, that thing cost almost $600 here i wish it was that cheap here lol, my quest 3 was a lot cheaper and doesn't need an adapter to play on pc which reduce even more the cost and you can play it even without a pc which is amazing for some games, also with quest 3 you can use it wireless on pc which is a point of no return (with almost native quality using virtual desktop), the only important accesory you need to make that thing comfortable is the head strap that costs me like $25 and works good enough. so i don't understand that part of the video, but the review itself, great review.
Bought Quest 2 and I see the excitment of gaming return since I played NES back in the day. Since ps2 era, gaming have been gone downhill but VR is something truely surpassed everything beyond and is a true revolution since computer were a thing
Love the PSVR2 except for the awful lenses. I don't regret my purchase at all, but I really wish they had done the right thing and used lenses that don't have a tiny sweet spot.
That's insane to read. Coming off of the Reverb G2, these OLED lenses are god-tier. If you're talking strictly sweet spot, then yeah I hear the Quest 3 is miles above the rest. I don't think the sweet spot is bad on the PSVR2 at all, especially compared to the G2. Plus, having true blacks and good brightness goes a long way for VR.
@@MostlyPositiveChannel an important thing to note is I have to wear eyeglasses... i believe the sweet spot is smaller if there's more distance between the eyes and the lens.
psvr 2 though has horrible mura , low resolution especially once you factor in how the pixels are used by sharing the 3rd pixel. connected buy i wire all the time and the image smearing and old fresnel blurry lense its not a nice experience if ypu prefer a crisp image i choose my quest 3 over it everyday even wireless to the pc it still looks better

Good stuff! Also my headset of choice is the Meta Quest pro. Love the thing can't recommend it with good conscience though.
I have an index and prefer my psvr2. The reason mainly comes down to the faulty hardware of the index and stick drift, but still oled is wonderful

Nowadays the lenses, resolution, and panels REALLY hold back the Valve Index. I don't think it's worth getting anymore unfortunately.
